Chapter 254: Adventure of Astral Part 4: Wolfpack
Lilac heard the sonic boom as she was fending the three of them from some wolves. There was more than an entire pack as one hundred of them surrounded the three. All of them biting and nipping at the three as they pulled Gramps away and tore him apart, limb for limb as Tina starts crying and Lilac can't keep them away.
Surrounded by giant red trees with branches that slowed him down, Astral had a hard time getting down with ease as he resorted to slashing through the branches. Their snapping leaving a trail of fallen branches.
Astral sees them as he slashes a wave of the wolves down as Tina is clinging to an injured Lilac. One of the wolves bit her ankle, the teeth still stuck as Astral grabbed her hammer and used it to send a shockwave, displacing all of the wolves as they scattered. Astral chased some of them down and slashed them to bits as they slowly circled back.
Astrals speed was unreal compared to Lilac. As a wolf came in to bite her shoulder as Astral stabbed it . The remaining wolves all fled as fast as they could run. Tina kept crying as Lilac stayed silent, her wound was slowly bleeding as Astral crouched down. "I'm sorry I wasn't faster." They both cling to him as he slowly embraces them.
Astral caught a glimpse of her leg as he let go of the two of them and lifted her ankle up. He rummaged around in a small bag as he had nothing. His inventory was taken from him as there was nothing. He sighed as he ripped his hood off and slowly took out the teeth, she winced as Astral tightened it to a close.
Tina's wails still filled the air as Astral lifted her to his shoulder. "Hey, you are safe, don't worry one bit." she sniffled a little bit as Astral looked around for any remains of her grandpa. He saw some as he tilted her head away. Lilac watched as Astral shielded her from more harm. "Wanna know what we will do for him?" Tina kept sniffling as Astral set her down. He looked at his shield and his sword. "We will make him a cross. And remember his life forever, okay?"
She nodded as Lilac embraced Tina as Astral started to dig a hole for the cross, a feet wide as he dug it six feet deep, cleaning the sides of the hole with his sword as he took off his cloak and wrapped up the few parts of Gramps up as he set them in the bottom of the hole. He put a layer of dirt down as he and Tina looked at a tree branch that would work well. Tina pointed to one that already looked like a cross as Astral cut it in one motion.
He and Tina carried it over to the hole as they set it gently inside of the hole. Packing in the loose dirt around the rest of the hole as they all sat and looked at the cross for a few minutes as they heard a howl in the air. Followed shortly by an elvish horn. Astral swooped his arm under Lilac as Tina latched onto his back.
Astral marched forward at the beat of the drums echoed from behind them. He could only move so fast without risking any damage to them as the horns grew quieter. Astral sighed as they made it to the outskirts of the forests as the trees started to dwindle. The blades of grass extended as tall as Astral as Tina was able to peek over them. "What do you see?" Astral squeaked upwards to Tina who climbed up his back.
"Nothing but more green." Tina swooped her head around as they began their trek forward. Astral carried the two of them as it was a very mild afternoon for the three of them. The sun kept them warm as the blades of grass tried to cut the rays of sun down.
"Hey Lilac, you seem plenty knowledgeable about a lot of the civilizations. I am very curious to learn more." Astral kept his pace as he looked down at her in his arms as she smiled.
She blushed a bit before she answered. "Well, we changelings are far and few between, in fact, I wouldn't doubt it if I was the last one remaining." Astral felt pain from this. "But we changelings will prevail, we have several times in the past." She took a sharp breath inward as the two locked eyes. "There are three species of elves, the woodland which you have met. The most powerful of the three as they want the death of anyone that isn't elf. But haven't' declared war yet on some of the others."
"Why is that? What is stopping them?" Astral peeled his head back upwards to keep moving in a straight line.
"Not only do they need approval of the seafare elves and mountaineer elves, but the hybrids are the rulers with more powerful people than an entire army. One of their leaders is so feared, he is named the death cat. No one has any pet cats that are white, and white animals are forbidden." Lilac pointed out to more of the grass as she wanted to move her arms a bit.
"And that means no other person on this planet can take them on? That is scary indeed." Astral cracked his neck as Lilac nodded.
"There are some small human villages, and some dwarfs in the two mountain ranges. Then the feral demons spawn from thin air all across the planet." Lilac shivered a bit as she mentioned the demons. "Those things are terrifying and the only thing that could get close to Death Cat's power."
Astral wanted some water as he realized he needed to be a pack animal. He felt like he could be better alone, and would be. "That Death Cat sounds like a scary kid. But we could handle him." He hopes to lift their spirits with his words as the grass in front of them shrunk down to ankle height as they pulled back into the grass.
Astral, Lilac and Tina all peeked through the grass as it looked like there was an encampment of some sort in front of them. Astral's uneasiness began to spike as he wondered what this camp in front of them was. Lilac and Tina saw nothing as Astral saw through it all. It was a demon camp.
