Chapter 13: Confirming Ye Yu's Words
All of them looked the same age with the thin bodies.
Out of kindness, Ren Wei helped them a bit by giving them some food and money.
But, to his surprised, even though they accepted his help. They insisted on repaying him.
Finally, Ren Wei just gave some simple tasks to them. Thinking that they would probably not able to complete it.
Then, he went on his way to the Li clan.
What he didn't expect was that the Li clan was too ignorant. The only thing they knew about was the kingdom and the province they were in.
Other than that, nothing.
From that, Ren Wei determined that the four clans of Black Swan City was too busy fighting eachother that they were ignorance to their surroundings.
Some days later, Ren Wei met the five teenagers again.
To his amazement, the teenagers completed the tasks, the thought they could do.
They informed him of the things that were happening in the city and some other parts. The nature of sects, martial arts hall. And their locations.
Bewildered, he asked them how they did it.
They replied they simply just walk around the city and heard them from many people. Travelers, people who spends their whole day talking about others. From the city gate to the busy side street stalls.
After hearing all that, an idea came to his mind. That is to form a small information collector organization. Just for his personal uses.
That's how the South Wind Pavillion came to be. And the first five members of the organization.
He gave them a common surname 'Nan' meaming 'South'. Nan Chen, Nan Yuan, Nan Hai, Nan Lin, Nan Lei. The five teenagers.
He also found out about their ages too. All at the age of 17. Slight difference in months.
And Ren Wei knew that to make the organization more effective, he needs cultivators.
So, he tested the five teens for any treasure bones with his treasure bone detector device.
Fortunately, he found all five of them have treasure bones. But all the treasure bones were of low Grade 1.
That didn't matter to Ren Wei at all.
Using the high level Heaven Grade enhancement potions he got from the reward, he upgraded the treasure bones into low level Grade 7 treasure bones. A somewhat near impossible thing.
Since then, about 8 months have passed. During those time, Ren Wei has taught them all kinds of things. Cultivation techniques, combat skills, writing, reading etc. Everything he got.
Now, they are already at the 1st Level Acquired Qi Realm already. Strongest in the Black Swan City.
With their advanced skills and heightened senses, it was too easy for them to collect information.
Back to the present.
Ren Wei looked at the three boys, now 18 years old. Nan Yuan, Nan Lin, Nan Lei.
"Do you know anything about the capital city?" Ren Wei said. But he didn't have much hope about. Because it has not been long since they established their organization. Their only active area is the Black Swan City, with only 5 members.
As expected, all three of them looked at eachother and shook their heads. "No." They responded.
"Okey..." Ren nodded and looked down. He was thinking.
He was not simply going to believe the words of someone, he just met. All though, Ye Yu's words seemed true and he was affected with his eyes' Qi. Ren Wei still decided to check his story.
Then, he looked up and enquired. "Then, anything new?"
Nan Yuan, the second older of 5, answered. "We found some new people coming to the city. They seem to be cultivators, low level. But their eyes are too hostile. Most likely, trained assasins."
Ren Wei instantly thought the reason for that. They are searching for Ye Yu's whereabouts.
Then, half of the story is confirmed. The part of him being hunted down was true. Only the part of him being from the capital was to be confirm.
'But, did he say that he used a treasure to escape? How come they are here so quickly?' He was confused.
From time to time, Ren Wei facial expression kept on changing. Sometimes his eyes frowned, sometimes relaxed.
About 5 minutes later, he finally stopped as nothing came to his mind.
"Then, you guys continue tracking them and getting some information from them. I suspect they must be here for something valuable." He once again instructed.
"Yes." The three teens answered in union.
"Ohh.. from now on, I won't be coming here. So, just relax and manage yourself." Ren Wei added.
Hearing that, the teens showed confusion. If their boss doesn't show up at the base anymore, how is he going to get the news from them.
As if he knew what they were thinking, Ren Wei reached into his pot and took out something.
A small owl, the size of human palm.
The teens didn't show any reaction to the scene, as if they are used to it.
Ren Wei gently placed it on his palm. With wide eyes, cute face, moonlight grey feathers. Overall, a cute pet.
But only Ren Wei know how terrifying it is.
[Species: Moonshadow Owl.
Name: Shadow.
Realm: Peak Grade 2.
Grade: Peak Earth Grade.
Details: A type of spiritual owl. Deadly in nighttime. Specially in full moon.]
A simple introduction.
"From now on, send everything with this." Ren Wei pointed at the owl that was standing on his palm without any movement. "His name is shadow."
"So, if you have anything, just write it down on a paper and attach it to his feet. It will take it to me."
"And remember, you must do it only at night. Don't try to send it to me during the day. Got it?"
The trio nodded, firmly.
"Ohh. And lastly, don't disrespect it. Or else it will beat the crap out of you." He added.
After Ren Wei finished introducing, the owl silently flew away from his palm to a corner of the room.
It didn't make a single sound when it flew. A perfect night messenger.
Then, he spent some time in the basement, answering and clearing some doubts of the trio.
About an hour later, Ren Wei prepared to leave.
"You don't need to me out. Just focus on your thing." He said as he stood up and left.
Afterwards, Ren Wei spent some time going around the city. Mostly searching for those hostile men.
However, luck was not on his side. He didn't meet a single one of them. Maybe they went into hiding or something.
Finally, he stopped at the Golden Pleasure Restaurant. His usual place to have meal, whenever he comes to the city.
Seeing him, the gaurd nodded politely. "Mr Ren."
Ren Wei nodded back with a smile.
After entering, he didn't stop at the first floor. He continued walking towards the stairs that leads to the 2nd floor.
Before heading upstairs, he informed the clerk at the counter. "My usual. And let Yi Shan deliver it."
The clerk politely nodded. "Yes, sir. Right away."
After Ren Wei went up, a newcomer waiter approached the clerk and asked in a low voice. "Who was that fisherman, sir?"
"That was our one of the most valuable regular customer. And also one of the richest, Mr Ren." The clerk patiently explained.
"Okey, now go to the kitchen and tell the chef to prepare the usual of Mr Ren. He will know it. And remember to inform Yi Shan about it." He ordered the newbie.
"Yes." It left nodded.
Upstairs, the second floor.
Ren Wei looked around. "Same as usual." He said as he looked at the few people.
Without a care, he walked up to his usual spot, the corner window seat. And sat down firmly and comfortably.
Just 5 minutes later, Yi Shan came upstairs with his order.
"Hello Mr Ren." Yi Shan greeted and put down the food on the table. A bowl of rice, a simple chicken dish and some vegetables.
Then, he back away, trying to leave.
However, Ren Wei called out to stop him. "Yi Shan."
Turning around, Yi Shan asked. "Yes? Mr Ren."
Ren Wei put up his hand and gestured him to sat down, opposite to him.
Yi Shan felt it was unusual that Mr Ren would ask him to sit opposite to him. But he did it nonetheless.
In soft yet calm voice, he heard Ren Wei asking him. "Yi Shan, are you married?"
"Aa!? ..Not yet. But I am going to, this last week of the month." He was caught off, when heard the question. It was kind of odd question from Ren Wei.
"Um.." Ren Wei nodded his head and reached into his inner pocket.
He took out a money pouch and put it on the table. "Take this. It is my gift to you." He said.
Yi Shan was confused. But he still took it without hesitation. Not because he was greedy for money, but rather Ren Wei would not let him leave without it.
"May I ask what's going on, Mr Ren?" He inquired politely.
"I might not be coming to this place for quite a while. Or for a very long time. And before that, I just want to give you something for your kindness." Ren Wei replied as he picked up the chopstick and picked a bite.
The reason behind his gift was that Yi Shan was the first person he got familiar with, when he first arrived at the city.
Not just that. He got many information and stories of the martial immortal world.
He had shown him kindness many times.
"I suggest you quit working here. With the money I gave you, it will be enough for you to live thrice your lifespan."
"And becareful these days. Stay at home." He advised one last time.
"...thanks." Yi Shan did not know what to say. So, he simply thanked and left.
After Yi Shan left, Ren Wei quietly ate his food and left the restaurant.
