A Fisherman's Immortal Journey

Chapter 12: Back to the City

The next day, early morning, after waking up. Ye Yu got up and did all the chores, cleaning the yard and the house.

After doing all that, he waited in the yard for Ren Wei to wake up.

But even after waiting for quite a while, Ren Wei still did not come out of his bedroom.

Feeling that his savior might be a heavy sleeper, Ye Yu decided to wake him.

He stood up from his seat and walked up to Ren Wei's bedroom door.

Standing in front of the door, he took a breath and knocked on the door.

To his surprised, as soon as his hand hit the door, it pushed back. The door was opened.

With a surprised face, he thought. 'Does he sleep with the door open?"

Puzzled, he slowly pushed opened the door. But when he looked inside the room, he found that his savior was not inside, let alone sleeping on the bed.

"Oh. He must have left the house early. But where is he going so early?" Ye Yu murmured to himself and walked away from the room. Before he left, he did not forget to close the door.

He did not know that Ren Wei alway go fishing. Because he did not see anything hinting about it when he woke up after he fell into the river.

After finding out that Ren Wei left the house, Ye Yu decided to busy himself with his own work.

On the other side, Ren Wei was fishing in the river as usual. He had already caught his first two catches and got the rewards.

Both the fishes and the rewards he got were just normal stuffs.

[Fish: Thin Fin Fish.

Grade: Normal.]

[Fish: Small Head Carp.

Grade: Normal.]

Rewards.

[Reward: 100 Silver Coins.]

[Reward: A pack of bamboo chopsticks.]

Ren Wei did not mind the two simple rewards he got. Just yesterday, he got some good stuffs. So getting some normal things was already good.

Over the past year, he had exhausted many fishing spots. But some new ones also appeared during the year.

So, he did not have to find another spots far away from his location. Just going back and forth.

With one hand playing the fishing rod, Ren Wei ate a chicken drumstick with the other. It was a reward he got.

After he was done eating, he focused back to the calm and beautiful scenery.

As he enjoys the scenery, he checked the time. It was turning late morning.

"Hum.. I should head to the city before noon." He thought after seeing the time.

Five minutes later, he caught his 3rd catch of the day.

[Fish: Plum Fish (Special Type).

Grade: Half-Mortal.]

It was Ren Wei's first time seeing an special type fish. And also, a half mortal Grade.

Even so, he still put it into his pot calmly. And with that came the 3rd reward of the day. An special type too.

[Reward: Plum Mist Wine (2 Pots).

Age: 10 Years Old.

Type: Lightly sweet, made from mountain plums; common among mortal people. Test best when pair with foods.]

"Ohh..! A wine rewards. That's nice." He was a bit surprised when he got the wine reward.

After getting his third and the last reward for the day, he didn't delay anymore.

He slowly rowed the boat back to its place. Then, he stood up.

Taking a breath, he jumped from the boat back to the land. It was quick.

Using his light and fast foot steps, he quickly left the place and headed straight for the Black Swan City.

Whoosh...

Wherever he passed, only the sound of wind was heard to the passersby mortals of the town.

One passersby said when he felt the sudden burst of wind. "What a strange wind." He looked around to see if anything was causing it. But he was destined to be disappointed.

Without stopping, Ren Wei continued heading to his destination.

Back at his home, Ye Yu was busy cooking his own meal. But he was facing a dilemma. He didn't know whether his savior would come back home for meal.

"He should have atleast informed me before heading out. Now I don't know what to do." He muttered in annoyance.

Finally, he decided to add Ren Wei share too. "I will just eat it too if he doesn't come back."

----

About forty five minutes later, Ren Wei finally arrived at the entrance of Black Swan City.

He remembers the first the he arrived at the city. It took him about 2 hours even with his full speed at the time.

But now, it tool him less than half the time with just only half of his current speed.

Without any trouble, he easily entered the city.

Even the guards was familiar with Ren Wei as he frequently come to the city. Though, sometimes he come to the city in disguise. He mostly visits the city in his real face.

They know him as the 'Fisherman Without any fishes', due to his nature of always carrying the fishing rod but a small fish pot without any fishes.

"Same as always." Ren Wei looked around the small bustling city street that never changes everytime he come.

Looking at the familiar street, Ren Wei headed towards the direction he was most familiar with, the beggar street. It was the road that led to a place where, mostly, beggars and homeless people lives.

Despite the street being called the beggar street, there was hardly any living being in the area. Because it used to be a place for beggars, it was now deserted.

As he walked down the road, he looked left and right. But all he saw was some stray animals.

But all those things didn't bother Ren Wei as he walked calmly.

Soon, he arrived at a medium size rundown house. With roofs missing and the wall being ridden with holes.

Just like the rest of house, the door was also in the same condition.

Ren Wei walked up to the door and knocked in a rhythmic tone.

Knock, knock knock,...knock..

Just a minute later, the door slowly opened.

What appeared after the door was opened was not some old beggar or mature beggar. But rather a young teenage boy in beggar clothings.

Seeing Ren Wei standing in front of the door, the boy instantly smiled and called out. "Boss!" In a surprised tone.

Ren Wei calmly nodded. "Um.." Then he stepped inside.

The boy closed the door after Ren Wei entered the place.

Inside of the house was just as people except to see from outside, a place filled with dirty stuffs. Rusted iron pillars, spider webs in all around the corners, and all the furniture inside was were showing signs of being eaten by insects.

The boy hurriedly led Ren Wei after closing the door. "Boss, this way."

After reaching a corner of the room, the boy press against the wall. And surprisingly, it pushed into.

Just as he did that, a door just big enough to fit one man, was opened. And a stone steps that leads downstairs appeared in their view.

Then, both of them walked into the doorway. The door closed itself behind them.

Ren Wei and the boy arrived at an underground room.

It was shockingly the direct opposite of the house above.

A big room wide enough to fit more than 100 people with clear personal space. Hanging bright lanterns across the walls, places to sit and sleep properly.

And just across the wall, facing the stone steps, a huge board was hanging.

On it wrote, "South Wind Pavillion."

A secret organization or unit, Ren Wei created.

In the Red Lion Kingdom, it is prohibited to create information base organization other than the kingdom government.

If it were Sect or martial arts hall, Ren Wei could have built the base out in the open. But his South Wind Pavillion is mainly for collecting information, so he built it in secret underground.

When Ren Wei arrived at the underground room, two more boy who was around the same age as the boy earlier, was also in the room.

Seeing their boss, the two quickly stood and saluted. "Greeting, Boss." With proper respect in their tone.

Ren Wei waved his hand, signaling that it was enough.

"Where are the other two?" He asked as he looked around the room.

The boy who led him answered. "They left to collect some information from the north side."

"Okey, you three can sit too." Ren Wei said as he sat down on one of the chair.

The three also sat down on a long bench in front of the chair.

Ren Wei looked at the young boys and remembered the time he recruited them.

It was late autumn, winter was just around the corner.

He was casually strolling around the Black Swan City, looking for any sign of people who could help him give some knowledge about the kingdom.

But most of the people he met didn't know much about it. Only some facts and rumors.

His only option was the four martial arts clans.

After hesitating for a while, he eventually went towards the Li clan. A clan he was familiar with.

But on his way, he met five young and malnourished teenagers. Curled into each other, as if bracing against the world. With only torn pieces of thin blanket. On the roadside.
