You love me (BETRAYAL)

Chapter 8: the hospital

Accept the bullet Hosea's gaze shifted away from Manilla as he changed out of his wet clothes, which he had laid over a chair. Just then, her phone rang. Thinking it was broken, he answered it, seeing "Grams" on the screen.

"Hello?" he said, his eyes returning to Manilla.

"Hi, who is this? And why do you have my granddaughter's phone?" Her voice trembled with concern.

Hosea's expression changed. "She's in the hospital, ma'am. She fainted in the rain, so I took her here. I can send you the location via SMS."

"What has happened? How serious is it?" she asked anxiously.

"Don't worry too much, ma'am. The doctor said she would be fine; she needed some rest. She's still conscious."

"Okay, I'm on my way now." She hung up the phone.

Manilla's mother rushed into her room, her eyes frantic with worry. Before she could put on her shoes, she received the message.

Hosea sat in a chair next to Manilla, lost in thought. Why did he leave his car? Why did he insist on taking her home? That was so unlike him. When had he become so soft? He didn't even know her.

As he continued to ponder these questions, there was a knock at the door. He stood up and walked over to open it, revealing a tall, imposing figure.

"Good evening, sir," the man said. Hosea recognized him as one of his father's security personnel, though he wondered how he knew he was there.

"Good evening," Hosea replied.

"Big boss sent me, sir. He's worried you might not make it tonight."

Hosea paused, thinking (why would he expect me?). "Oh, for the dinner?"

"Yes, sir. Also, your uncle wishes to speak with you."

Hosea stepped outside and closed the door, taking one last glimpse of Manilla before he left. Closing it again. "Well as you can see my friend is not well, that's why bi could not make it, but I will go home to see him now, also I am exhausted, the guy just nodded okay I leave her in your care, don't go in just say outside, her grama will be here in no time" Hosea's voice was low and commanding "I stay here sir" at that Hosea walk away.

Soon Hosea was in the iron gate, he walked into the mansion, the soft glow of the evening lights enveloping him, a stark contrast to the turmoil of emotions he'd experienced at the hospital. The memory of Manalla, he did not know her name yet but her face still lingered in his mind and he couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd left a part of himself behind, what was this feeling? He could not understand, but one thing was sure he had never felt this way before, not even towards Beatrice when they were still together. This thought ran through his mind as he walked he had forgotten where he was lost in thought "Hosea" his uncle called out to him and gave him a huge, the familiar scent of his uncle's cologne brought back his fond memories, he hugs him back, "how are you, long time".

Hosea and his uncle talking while sipping wine and washing a move was a lengthy and strong dialogue, then Hosea brought up another topic "How are you and my dad," Hakeem shook his head "I must tell you, son, since you brought it up. Your father is an asshole when my sister was still alive we were close (he demonstrated with his hands) I mean close, but now he treats me like I am some kind of lowlife," "Sometimes I wish my sister was still a life and you see that little girl he took as his wife a girl he is old enough to be her father, as a wife I mean… as he was still talking Hosea shrugged his expression neutral "don't mind him, uncle, he is just stressed out, you know running a company and the restates, I guess it has not been so easy for him" "no Hosea I know what i say, you don't know that man as I do, besides you the future of the company and all the restates but him having another son that changes everything. Hosea just smiled at him "No need for a fight uncle, we are all families and we have to stick together, if marrying again makes him happy that's okay with me. I read I don't care besides we should learn to prioritize family above every other thing, even if it means tolerating one another. Hakeem sighed looking at him with a mix of frustration and admiration, what Elixir said about him was true, he had grown, and Hosea the little boy who played around with his expensive toys was now a full-grown man.

The next day Hosea was still in bed when he heard a knock on the door. He opened his sleepy eyes and looked at the time, it was just 40:15am, he hardly slept for two hours, how could this be and why was it disturbing him in the early morning? He slid down from his bed "Who is that ""Good morning sir, I am the guard you instructed to keep watch at the hospital yesterday, sir her grandma came the moment you left, she is up now and wishes to thank you in person. Upon hearing this, Hosea rushed to his wardrobe, picked out a long jacket, and walked out of the room. "You drive, and let's be quick. I don't want to keep her waiting." As the car pulled up to the hospital, Hosea felt an inexplicable surge of excitement coursing through his veins. Without fully understanding why, he burst out of the car and dashed toward the hospital. What was it about this girl that made him feel this way? It was as if he were a secret spy on a mission. As he entered the hospital, his heart raced with anticipation. He hurried to her room, opened the door, and then—there she was.
