You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 25 - Drinks A Glass of Milk Every Day, Strong Alien I

Suburbs, High-Tech Zones

With the government’s vigorous support in the past two years, office buildings had sprung up everywhere. During the day, the area was bustling with people. At night, it transformed into a completely different world, like a ghost town standing in the mist—extremely quiet and deserted.

Although newly built residential areas nearby had seen extremely hot sales, most of the units remained vacant, waiting for appreciation due to incomplete surrounding facilities. Very few people actually lived there. Only one family’s light shone through the windows of a 31-story apartment.

Zhao Xiaojuan was standing blankly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

She looked at the dark and silent environment in front of her, feeling extremely uneasy. Her fingers were tightly twisted together unconsciously, and her joints were almost exposed.

Suddenly, there were footsteps behind her.

The person who came was a man in his fifties, with a medium build, long hair, a full beard, and a skinny face, but his spirit was not decadent. He wore a white denim jacket that was very popular among young people, looking quite energetic.

“Don’t come over!” Zhao Xiaojuan took two steps back in horror.

“Okay, I won’t come.” He raised his hands to show compromise and sighed helplessly. “I thought after introducing myself, the relationship between us would become very harmonious, at least not so tense.”

“I don’t know you.” Zhao Xiaojuan huddled in the corner.

“Blood relationship is an objective fact. It has nothing to do with whether you admit it or not.” The man made her a cup of hot tea. “I think you need to calm down first.”

Zhao Xiaojuan did not take the tea cup and remained wary. In fact, she had no way of knowing if the man in front of her was really her biological father or just a sweet-talking kidnapper.

“Think about it, how did I bring you here?” The man sat on the sofa. “The same superpower as you. This is the best evidence.”

Zhao Xiaojuan did not speak. She remembered walking in the park that day when a strange man suddenly grabbed her waist. At the same time, he ran into a wall at a very fast speed. The expected bruises and swollen face did not happen. In just a dazed moment, the two of them passed through to the other side of the wall, where a small, inconspicuous black car was waiting.

In front of him, Zhao Xiaojuan had almost no ability to resist. Within an hour, she changed from Mrs. Huang to a missing person.

The man claimed to be her father, named Wu Zigang, who was currently a doctor of medicine.

“It wasn’t me who abandoned you, but your mother and I had a quarrel. She took you away from home, and there has been no news since.” Wu Zigang sighed. “I have been looking for you for many years.”

“Then…where is she?” Zhao Xiaojuan asked hesitantly.

“I don’t know. I hope that one day I can find your mother like I found you.” Wu Zigang looked at her. “Actually, I had confirmed your identity a few months ago, but I never thought about what to do, because you seemed to be doing well.”

Zhao Xiaojuan lowered her head, feeling that the last sentence sounded a bit ironic.

“But then I discovered that you just seemed to be only ‘living well’.” Wu Zigang motioned for her to sit next to him. “So, I think I should find a way to get you away from Huang Jingyuan and that couple, as far away as possible.”

Zhao Xiaojuan raised her head and looked at him. “That couple?”

Wu Zigang keenly caught her meaning, so he reassured her. “If you don’t like these words, I can change the name, but don’t mind it, I really have no malicious intent.”

Zhao Xiaojuan said nothing.

Wu Zigang continued: “Of course I am very grateful to them for raising you. As for doing such things later, it was just because they were deceived by Huang Jingyuan. In essence, they still care about you. I understand it very well.”

“What exactly do you want to do?” Zhao Xiaojuan asked.

“I just said I want you to leave Huang Jingyuan. He is one of the persons in charge of the underground warehouse. Do you know what kind of organization that is?” Wu Zigang asked.

Zhao Xiaojuan shook her head.

“The truth may be cruel, but you have to accept it.” Wu Zigang pulled out some information from the computer and sighed silently. “Go see it for yourself first.”

Zhao Xiaojuan stretched out her hand hesitantly.

A gust of wind howled past the window, causing the street lamps to sway, making the light blur and the world outside seem even more indistinct.
