Chapter 23 - The Most Perfect Solution to Friendly Agreement II
“Although it’s a bit presumptuous, I want to know more about the underground warehouse,” Bai Xi didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point. “The more detailed, the better.”
“Just for this?” Daisy put down her teacup. “Why not directly ask Han Zhuo? He knows much more than I do.”
“He doesn’t plan to tell me the truth, and he even plans to face the underground warehouse alone,” Bai Xi said. “But Shi Tian return this time because of me. I can’t know nothing.”
“That’s because he wants to protect you,” Daisy handed him the teacup. “It’s a little cold.”
Bai Xi took it and held it in his hand. Within a minute, the cup started to steam in his hands.
“Okay,” Daisy laughed out loud. “It seems like you did quite well.”
“What does it look like?” Bai Xi didn’t intend to ignore the topic but asked curiously. “How did he describe me to you?”
“He said you were cute, serious, and innocent.” Daisy held his hand and patted it. “But now it seems you are a hard worker.”
“Can I know more?” Bai Xi asked.
“Okay,” Daisy reminded him in advance. “But everything related to underground warehouses is full of killing and violence. You must be mentally prepared.”
Bai Xi nodded, “I know, thank you.”
The city was divided not by day and night but by the underground warehouse. Disappearances that occur in five-star hotels, secret prisons disguised as mental hospitals, bloody laboratories hidden in maternal and child hospitals, and even playgrounds, supermarkets, schools, and nursing homes are all commonplace for ordinary people. However, for those with superpowers, it was very likely that these places were magical caves full of traps.
What was more terrifying than death itself was being shrouded in the shadow of death all the time. Bai Xi could not imagine how fearful and uneasy the superpowers had been spending every day for so many years.
“Although the underground warehouse is huge, it is not necessarily invincible,” Daisy added. “Han Zhuo has always wanted to completely destroy it.”
“What about you? What do you think?” Bai Xi asked.
“Of course, I support my son, but I also have my own opinions,” Daisy said frankly. “Even if the underground warehouse is destroyed, as long as the superpowers are still there, new organizations will appear and continue the next round of experiments with the government.”
It sounded cruel and all in vain, but the reality was probably like this. People with superpowers were of great research value to humans. The genetic secrets hidden in their bodies were closely related to science, life, energy, wealth, and war. Without the underground warehouse, without Shi Tian, there would be others, and the killing would be endless.
“So…” Bai Xi hesitated.
“So, it is best that one day in the future, the superpowers can return to their own planet. This is the most perfect solution,” Daisy said, helping him mix a cup of pink strawberry milk. “Of course, this possibility is not very high, so I still support Han Zhuo’s decision to destroy the underground warehouse, which will at least give the superpowers a brief sense of security.”
“Well,” Bai Xi held the water cup. “Then can you tell him not to keep all his plans in his heart and not to go to the underground warehouse alone? He can obviously find many helpers.”
“Are they including yourself?” Daisy reminded him with a smile. “The drinks going to be boiled.”
The strawberry milk was bubbling and overflowing from the cup. Bai Xi quickly withdrew his hand, blushing, “I’m sorry, I didn’t pay attention just now.”
“I promise you, but you must also promise me not to go looking for Shi Tian now,” Daisy said, taking out a tissue for him and speaking in a teasing tone. “Be busy with your work. As for the underground warehouse, I promise that Han Zhuo will discuss every move he makes in the future with you.”
Bai Xi nodded: “Thank you.”
.
Regarding his mother’s promise, Mr. Han asked helplessly after learning about it: “Could I not abide by it?”
“Cannot,” Daisy returned the lighter to him. “You have to learn to teach him to grow up, instead of locking him in the bedroom all the time, chilling the vodka and then heating the milk.”
Han Zhuo: “…”
“I have to go.” Daisy patted him on the shoulder, “Believe me, your student qualifications are excellent. Although he almost turned the strawberry milk into syrup today, he is still excellent.”
After a long silence, Han Zhuo finally nodded and sighed.
In the restaurant next door, Bai Xi called the waiter to pay the bill. He originally wanted to go to the coffee shop to find Han Zhuo, but when he opened the door, he saw Mr. Han leaning against the wall, smoking silently. By this time, the sky had completely darkened. The street lights were very dim, but the lights in the windows were very bright. The alternating halo of light covered the tips of his shoulders and hair, creating a strange and pleasing beauty.
Bai Xi stopped and planned to take a photo first, but Han Zhuo just turned around. A sudden cold wind rolled up his windbreaker, causing the orange-red cigarette butt to flicker. His black hair was messy and his eyes were gentle, like a handsome playboy in an illustration.
Bai Xi put his hands in his pockets: “Is Auntie gone?”
“Um,” Han Zhuo put out the cigarette butt and threw it into the trash can. He walked up to the front door and said, “She said she didn’t need me to take her home.”
Bai Xi continued to look at him.
“I agree to your request,” Han Zhuo held his shoulders with both hands and said solemnly, “So, you’re not angry anymore?”
Bai Xi replied: “I will think about it.”
Han Zhuo looked at him and smiled.
.
That night, there were many, many little stars in the bedroom.
Because it was what Mr. Han owed yesterday, and he needed to repay it twice as much today.
And none of them were depressed, lost, or sad little stars.
All the little stars were very cute, very warm, very twinkling.
They fell on the ceiling and hid in the carpet until the dream was filled with the Milky Way.
