WHAT A TWIST!

Chapter 116: Chapter 116:UNWELCOMED ADAVANCES

Chapter 116

The biting wind seemed to mock Na Yeon as she stood poised on the rooftop's edge. The digital storm of the school group chat, her own mother too, left her raw, each cruel word a fresh wound. Her fingers trembled as she dropped her phone, the device clattering uselessly against the metal fence, a final severance from the world below.

A chilling calm descended as she planted her feet on the cold barrier. The city lights blurred, the distant sounds of life fading into a dull hum.

With a deep breath, she pushed off, her arms outstretched in a final embrace of the void. The world tilted, the ground rushing up to meet her, and in that moment of freefall, a strange sense of peace washed over her.

As I stood beside Hyun Min, I watched him masterfully arrange the dishes on the table, the aromas wafting through the air and teasing my senses. Racy, sat rigidly in her chair, her gaze fixated on Hyun Min with an intensity that made me uneasy. He, however, remained focused on his task, oblivious to her admiring glances. I caught Racy's eye, but chose not to acknowledge the tension that hung in the air.

We began to eat,the silence was suddenly broken by Racy's comment, her voice dripping with honeyed flattery. "You're absolutely dashing, Hyun Min. It's no wonder you're getting more handsome by the day!" I felt a wave of discomfort wash over me, and my foot instinctively sought out hers under the table.

"Ouch, what was that for?" Racy demanded,I maintained a stoic expression, unwilling to reveal the turmoil brewing inside me. It was clear now that inviting Racy had been a grave mistake..I just laughed and gave her a sign to stop talking, but the talkative spirit in her said 'no way'

Her next words was surprising "I must say, I'm thrilled to see you two together. Marriage is just around the corner, isn't it?" The comment hung in the air like a challenge, leaving both Hyun Min and me shocked, hyun min coughed hard, Racy's eyes sparkled with mischief as she offered Hyun Min a glass of water, her hand lingering on the glass a fraction of a second too long. The gesture seemed almost... flirtatious. My reaction was instantaneous. I snatched the glass from her hand and downed the contents in one swift motion, the cool liquid doing little to calm the unease that had taken up residence in my chest.

Hyun Min's deep chuckle resonated beside me, his piercing gaze locking onto Racy with a mix of amusement and intrigue. "Are you flirting with me right now?" he asked, his tone laced with humor and a hint of curiosity.

Racy's laughter was like a melodic serenade, effortless and captivating. She cast a sly glance my way before responding, her eyes glinting with playful mischief. "I'm merely acknowledging your exceptional taste, Hyun Min. Your good looks are undeniable." She turned to me, her voice taking on a teasing tone. "Are you annoyed, Sarah?"

I remained silent, my gaze fixed on my plate as I mechanically pushed the food around, my emotions simmering beneath the surface. Hyun Min's eyes met mine for a fleeting moment, and I sensed a flicker of concern before he turned back to Racy. "My girlfriend can be quite territorial, so I'd advise you to tread carefully," he said with a knowing smirk, his words infused with a playful warning.

Racy's laughter echoed through the room once more, the sound grating on my frazzled nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. She resumed eating, the silence that followed heavy with unspoken tension and veiled emotions. The air was thick with unspoken words, and I could feel Hyun Min's intense gaze on me, but I refused to meet his eyes, the meal having devolved into an awkward, tension-filled affair.

As the meal drew to a close, the lingering flavors still danced on my palate, a delightful finale to the culinary experience. I turned to Hyun Min and suggested, "Why don't Racy and I take care of the dishes? You can unwind and take a break." He nodded, his eyes already fixed on his phone as he settled into a corner table, the soft glow of the screen casting a gentle light on his features.

Once we were alone in the kitchen, the warm water and soap suds a stark contrast to the tension simmering between us, I turned to Racy with a stern expression. "What's going on, Racy? That was completely out of line," I demanded, my voice low but firm.

Racy's smile wavered for a moment before she shrugged, her tone laced with a hint of innocence. "I was just giving him a genuine compliment, Sarah. No need to overreact."

I shot her a piercing glance, my words sharp. "Save it for someone who's interested. I don't appreciate your flirting with my boyfriend."

The silence that followed was oppressive, the only sound the clinking of dishes and the soft whoosh of water. Racy's eyes met mine briefly, a flash of defiance sparking in their depths before she looked away, her movements becoming more deliberate as she washed the dishes with a quiet intensity. The air was thick with unspoken tension, the kitchen's warmth and comfort lost amidst the awkwardness that had settled between us like a physical presence.

As Racy departed, I lingered in the kitchen, meticulously drying the dishes with a towel and placing them in their designated spots with precision and care. The student kitchen was a paragon of elegance, its sleek design and spotless surfaces evoking the feel of a high-end culinary studio. The floor tiles shone like polished gemstones, reflecting the fluorescent lights above with a dazzling brilliance.

I finished cleaning, and as I headed out, I paused abruptly, my curiosity getting the better of me. I slowly retreated back into the kitchen, my head peeking out cautiously from behind the doorframe. Hyun Min's head rested on the table, his hand outstretched as he lay asleep, his chest rising and falling with a gentle rhythm. Racy stood beside him, her slender fingers gently tracing the contours of his hair and face with an unnerving intimacy.

I watched, my heart racing, as Racy leaned down, her intentions unclear. A surge of unease coursed through my veins, and I emerged from my hiding spot, my voice firm and commanding. "What precisely do you think you're doing?" I demanded, my tone laced with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

Racy recoiled, startled, her eyes locking onto mine with a flash of guilt. "Oh, Sarah..." she stammered, her voice trailing off into an awkward silence. I raised an eyebrow, my tone dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, I see. You're just admiring his good looks again, aren't you? With that level of... familiarity?"

Racy's face flushed with nervousness as she hastily excused herself. "I think it's best if I take my leave now," she stated, her voice trembling slightly as she swiftly walked out, leaving me alone with my thoughts and Hyun Min's vulnerable form. I gazed at her retreating back, my mind racing with questions about her motives and the true nature of her interest in Hyun Min.
