Chapter 76: Extreme Yin Dragon Saliva, Sea of Fire Formation!
"If you're looking for spiritual herbs, head to the left. I'm sensing herb fluctuations that way."
After venturing deep into the tomb, Little Marten suddenly pointed to a path and spoke to Lin Fan and Lin Dong.
Lin Fan and Lin Dong exchanged a glance, then immediately moved in the indicated direction.
After some time, they noticed they seemed to be walking in circles.
"There's a formation here," Lin Fan said, his gaze sharpening as he turned to Lin Dong.
Little Marten also sensed something was off and said, "Didn't expect you to notice this was a formation."
Lin Fan simply smiled, not explaining further.
Little Marten didn't press him and grumbled, "I hate these annoying formations the most."
Lin Dong scratched his head in frustration. "So what now?"
"I'll try to detect the formation's core. I'm not a formation expert, but a simple stake formation shouldn't be a problem."
With that, Little Marten flicked his paw and closed his eyes. A faint spiritual wave spread outward.
Lin Fan remained calm—this didn't surprise him at all.
"Three hundred steps ahead."
After a moment, Little Marten opened his eyes and pointed forward.
"Let's go."
Lin Fan didn't hesitate and led Lin Dong and the two Fire Python Tigers onward.
Soon, under Little Marten's guidance, they walked out of the formation.
Beyond it lay a spacious training ground—and in the center stood over a hundred puppets in neat rows.
Lin Dong was stunned. "So many puppets…"
"These are all low-grade spiritual puppets, each comparable to a Yuan Dan Great Perfection expert," Lin Fan said calmly. "Unfortunately, their internal inscriptions have faded—they're essentially useless now."
"A pity," Lin Dong said with a sigh.
"Let's keep moving. The tomb is said to contain a rare yin-type herb—Extreme Yin Dragon Saliva. It's highly beneficial for Qingtan. We must get it."
Lin Fan showed no interest in the puppets and pressed forward.
Lin Dong quickly followed.
Despite their intimidating appearance, the puppets didn't react—completely inert as expected.
Not long after, they reached the other side of the training field.
A rich medicinal aroma drifted into their noses.
Before them was a crystal-clear lake. At its center was a small jade platform, upon which grew a cluster of herbs—many of which were quite high grade.
Among them, the one that drew Lin Fan's eye was a black herb, shaped like a coiled snake, radiating a piercing cold and yin aura.
"That's it—Extreme Yin Dragon Saliva!" Lin Dong exclaimed in delight.
Lin Fan smiled, swiftly stepping forward and picking the herb. He sealed it in a prepared jade box, then stored it in his system space.
The two then gathered several other fifth- and sixth-grade spiritual herbs.
"Let's keep going, Brother Lin Fan," Lin Dong said after their harvest.
"Wait," Lin Fan said with a smile. "There's something under this herb pool."
"…You noticed too?"
Little Marten was momentarily surprised.
"I did," Lin Fan replied casually.
Moments later, Little Marten dove into the pool and emerged holding a spiritual puppet.
"Mid-grade puppet—comparable to a Form Creation Realm expert. Not bad," Lin Fan remarked.
Lin Dong shrugged. "Mid-grade or low-grade—if you can't use them, they're just scrap."
"You're wrong," Little Marten said. "This one can be activated with Pure Yuan Pills."
"Lin Dong, this one's yours," Lin Fan said after Little Marten finished explaining.
Lin Dong hesitated. "But Brother Lin Fan, you found it. It should be yours."
"I don't need it. I've already got a high-grade puppet," Lin Fan said with a smile and summoned his puppet.
"Damn, you lucky brat!" Little Marten was stunned. "But you'll need a massive amount of Pure Yuan Pills to use that thing—tens of thousands each time."
"I know," Lin Fan replied. "I got a lot of Pure Yuan Pills before coming in. I'll give you some for that mid-grade puppet."
As he spoke, he handed Lin Dong a Qiankun pouch.
"So many?!"
Lin Dong's eyes bulged after a quick scan.
"Look at you, acting like it's your first time seeing money," Little Marten snorted. "How much is it?"
"I estimate… at least a million!" Lin Dong gasped.
Lin Fan laughed. "Correct. One million Pure Yuan Pills. I've got more. Just take them."
"Wow… that's bold," Little Marten muttered in awe.
In the Great Yan Dynasty, that amount was no small fortune.
"Thanks, Brother Lin Fan," Lin Dong said, gratefully accepting both the puppet and the pills.
Continuing deeper into the tomb, they began encountering signs of past battles—some even with shattered mid-grade puppets.
This reminded Lin Dong just how big the gap between him and Lin Langtian still was.
After some time, they came upon a glowing barrier ahead.
From Lin Dong's shoulder, Little Marten said, "Beyond this light wall is likely the core of the ancient tomb. You sure you want to go in? It'll be way more dangerous."
Lin Fan and Lin Dong looked at each other and smiled. "We've come this far—there's no reason to stop now."
Besides, Lin Fan thought, if they didn't go, someone else might end up charming Ling Qingzhu.
Lin Dong, naturally, had no objections. The two stepped through the light wall together.
The moment they passed through, darkness surrounded them—then came blinding red light.
A surge of searing heat rushed toward them!
Lin Dong quickly circulated Yuan Power to shield himself. Frowning, he said,
"These flames… they're illusory?"
"Hard to say. Some real, some fake. This is likely a grand formation."
Little Marten looked around and smirked,
"Check that out—those guys are trapped too."
Lin Fan and Lin Dong followed his gaze and saw Lin Langtian, Wang Yan, and Qin Shi—all struggling to withstand the flames.
But Ling Qingzhu was nowhere to be seen.
"Even Lin Langtian and the others are stuck. What should we do now?"
Lin Dong stared at the sea of fire with a solemn expression.
