Warhammer: Saiyan Adopted by the Wolf King

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Magical Pony, Interstellar Communications Relay

There were even times when, after getting beaten up, wounds would appear on their bodies.

In the Dragon Ball movies, when Cell, Frieza, and a slew of villains escaped from the underworld during a disturbance, the only difference between them and the living was a halo above their heads; otherwise, they were no different from living people.

Even Vegeta, in his dead state, could fuse with the living Goku to become Vegito, completely breaking the concept of the boundary between life and death.

In Dragon Ball Super, Frieza was able to continue training even while in Hell, gradually mastering his Golden form to an even higher degree.

All these hints made it clear: the "Ki" of the Dragon Ball universe didn't just strengthen the body, it could also empower the soul.

Even life and death couldn't alter this fundamental state.

It was as if the soul and the body were one.

Malcador said that his soul was just a faint projection in the Warp, exactly the same as the countless souls of the Imperium.

But Axis thought differently.

He believed his soul should shine like the sun, not because of his pride, but from logical reasoning, Ahem.

The difference was just a matter of observation.

For humans, or other races in the Warhammer universe, their souls appeared as projections in the Warp.

As for himself, his soul truly resided within his own body, the projection seen in the Warp, most probably, only a shadow of the real thing.

The recent war had only strengthened Axis's conviction.

He had located Astartes across half a planet by using his Ki in a single moment.

A weak soul could never accomplish such a feat.

"Dad, since we've completed our mission this time, why don't we go visit Magnus on Prospero?" Axis suggested.

To test his theories, Axis was eager to meet Magnus in person.

If possible, he even wanted to discuss the Warp and learn a bit about psychic sorcery.

Unlike other Primarchs, Magnus had explored the Warp more deeply than anyone, his research into psychic powers even surpassed the Emperor's.

If his own soul was truly so strong, then in theory, he should be able to draw on psychic power from the Warp as well.

With psychic power assisting him in battle, and Ki resisting the corrupting influence of the Warp's chaotic forces, Axis would be even less susceptible to the corruption of the Chaos Gods.

Just to be safe, he also considered using the Saibamen for a few small experiments.

After all, they were the only other beings in this Warhammer universe with Ki besides himself.

"Sure! If you're interested," Russ replied.

The Primarchs who had returned to the Imperium were extremely busy, sometimes they didn't visit their homeworlds for decades.

But after each mission, there were usually a few months to rest, as long as it didn't slow down the Great Crusade.

And Prospero wasn't that far from here.

They could pay a visit and still be back in time for the next leg of the Crusade.

"It's settled, then. I'll go report to the Emperor about our mission, and then arrange assignments for the Custodes," said Axis.

Russ smiled at Axis and said, "Go on, my little cub. Just tell everything as it is. Once again, you've earned merit; you should be rewarded."

Axis nodded to Russ, then took his leave and returned to his room.

In a few days, once the Custodes had left, Axis planned to use Ki from the Saibamen to strengthen the Space Wolves' Astartes.

At that time, he would officially introduce Dou, the special Saibaman, to the Space Wolves.

Besides serving as warriors, these two Saibamen could also be used for enhancement experiments.

Axis even planned to train them to see if they could become healers or act as test subjects.

When he returned to his room, Kasha was already sitting on a bench, her face dark as she waited for Axis.

"You're finally back, my lord. So, can you tell me the outcome of this war now? I need to report the latest situation to the Emperor," Kasha said, drawing out her words.

"Sure, i was just speaking with Russ about this.

"When the fighting began, I used my Ki to launch an attack from the upper atmosphere of the planet.

"You know the rest. And in the end, I used my Ki to heal the second Primarch's brain." Axis recounted the mission details to Kasha.

"Is your Ki really that powerful? You killed tens of thousands of Astartes in an instant?" Kasha exclaimed, stunned.

She had already guessed the result, but hearing Axis say it himself still left her shocked.

It was simply terrifying!

She had carefully observed the situation on the planet, which looked as though it had been bombarded by a macro-cannon.

"Never underestimate the power of Ki," Axis explained, "It's an extremely destructive force, but it also has other properties, and unlike Warp sorcery, it's much easier to control."

"It seems you're not completely ignorant about the Warp. If you're interested, I can tell you a thing or two about it," Kasha offered.

One of her missions, after all, was to make sure Axis understood the terror and true nature of the Warp.

Axis waved her off at once.

"Forget it. I'm really not interested in anything to do with the Warp."

Who was he kidding? For all he knew, this could be another test or some kind of trial.

Maybe the Emperor was using this psyker woman to see if he'd show too much curiosity about the Warp.

So, the safest choice was a decisive refusal. If anyone asked, his answer was simple: he had absolutely no interest in the Warp.

Yet the truth was, the more you understood your enemy, the better your chances of defeating or even erasing them.

Being afraid of your enemies didn't mean they would disappear.

The Emperor wanted humanity to break free from the Warp and the corruption of Chaos.

The intention was good, but the methods were questionable, and the results weren't much better.

Besides, the Imperium simply couldn't function without the Warp.

Without it, there'd be no communication, no space travel, nothing.

In fact, the scouter Axis had given the Emperor even had interstellar communication capabilities.

Just look at Vegeta and Nappa: even from light-years away, they'd received transmissions of Raditz's fight with Goku and Piccolo.

Frieza could use Vegeta's scouter to keep track of everything happening in the Dragon Ball universe.

The communication ability was truly astonishing, but unfortunately, it only worked in Dragon Ball.

To use that kind of interstellar communication here, they'd have to build a huge number of giant relay stations across the stars.

The scouter itself was basically a kind of galactic telephone.

These bases worked much like satellites.

The Frieza Force ruled the whole galaxy and had built such massive communication relays on countless legion worlds, keeping their operations running over vast distances.

Without them, not even the tyrannical Frieza Army could function.

But with the current level of Imperial technology, humanity had no way to construct such space-based communication relays.

If the Necrons ever got their hands on his special code-locked case, they might be able to pull it off.

In fact, the Necrons already had technology like this, so they didn't even need his.

The fact that humanity's tech hadn't advanced at all in ten thousand years was just exasperating.

Axis's case might very well end up only being cracked by the Necrons, of all people.

"You're have every right to be wary of the Warp," Kasha said, "It's incredibly dangerous. Psychic power can easily lead to disaster.

"But the Imperium does have ways to protect itself. There are the sanctioned psykers, the Astropaths, and the Navigator Houses. They all rely on the Warp for communication and navigation.

"And Imperial merchant fleets and warships all use Gellar Fields for protection when traveling through the Warp. That's another line of defense."

Once you'd traveled the Warp enough times and seen psychic powers in action, curiosity was inevitable.

"I understand," Axis replied, understanding she as implying the same thing he had thought himself.

He changed the subject, "This time, I plan to have sixteen Custodes escort the Second Primarch back to Holy Terra, while I remain here with the Space Wolves."

"You mean, have them stay on Terra?" Kasha asked, catching on.

That wasn't a bad idea.

Truthfully, she had little affection for the Custodes herself.

After all, she'd once been locked up in a dungeon by those very armored giants.

But making it happen wouldn't be easy.

These sixteen Custodes were, in a way, the Emperor's reminder for Axis not to forget his place.

He might have returned to join the Great Crusade with the Space Wolves, but his real status was always Custodian, not an Astartes.

"This time, the Emperor's order was to eliminate the Second Primarch, but instead, I saved him. I'd call that going above and beyond. I think I deserve a reward, don't you?" Axis smiled.

If necessary, he'd just hint at the scouter's other communication features, the Emperor probably hadn't discovered that yet, as there weren't enough scouters in his possession to go around.

At best, they might've figured out the scouter had other functions while researching with no way to access it.

And once the direction was set by Axis, The Emperor would definitely go mad with research. For humanity, this was an incredibly important capability.

"That could work. I'll ask for you! But don't get your hopes up, they'll probably just send the Custodes back after they deliver the Second Primarch," Kasha said.

She would do everything she could to smooth things over for Axis, but her ruthless father wasn't exactly easy to deal with.

"You report it first," Axis said.

She seemed pretty eager to get rid of the Custodes too, he wondered what that was about.

After their conversation, Kasha used her psychic power to communicate with her father, the Emperor, in the Warp.

At this moment, the Emperor was not on Holy Terra, but on a planet called Baal, preparing to welcome back another son, the Ninth Primarch.

"What is it? How did your mission go?" the Emperor asked immediately upon receiving her message.
