Chapter 20: uzumaki daughter
The embers of the Nine-Tails' rampage had barely cooled, but a new fire was spreading through Konoha—one of suspicion and hate. The villagers, their homes shattered and loved ones lost, needed someone to blame. With the radical Uchiha's escape exposed, the target was clear.
In Konoha: The Weight of Condemnation
In the battered Uchiha district, only a third of the clan remained—barely a hundred souls from the three hundred who once called it home. They gathered in silence, heads bowed as villagers passed by, hurling curses and accusations.
"It's their fault!" a merchant spat. "They brought the demon here!"
"They betrayed us! Their own kin destroyed our village!" another shouted, voice trembling with grief and rage.
The Uchiha who stayed behind felt the weight of every glare. Mothers clutched their children, elders stood watch, and the younger shinobi clenched their fists, torn between shame and anger. Even within the clan, bitterness festered. The loyalists cursed the radicals for abandoning them and inviting the village's wrath.
Hospital Shadows: Itachi and Shisui
In the dim light of the hospital, Uchiha Itachi—a boy of seven, wise beyond his years—sat beside Shisui's bed. Shisui's eyes were bandaged, his face pale and drawn.
"Itachi," Shisui whispered, "I failed. I couldn't stop them. I couldn't protect our clan."
Itachi's small hand gripped his friend's. "You survived. That means there's still hope. I will protect what's left of us, no matter what happens."
Outside the room, the village elders debated the fate of the remaining Uchiha, their voices cold and calculating. With Minato and Kushina both in comas, there was no one left to defend the clan from the council's suspicion.
The Uchiha Radicals: A Perilous Journey
Far from Konoha, Uchiha Mali and the radical company moved through the shadows of the Land of Rivers. Their numbers were smaller now, but their resolve was unbroken. Mali, just seven but already marked by the world's cruelty, led the way with his grandfather Raigen at his side.
Their route took them through Kusagakure's outskirts, where rumors whispered of survivors from the destroyed Uzumaki clan. In a hidden hut, they found two pairs of mother and daughter—newborn babies, red-haired and fierce-eyed, bearing the marks of their lineage. The mothers, battered and desperate, barely resisted as the Uchiha "rescued" them.
One woman, her arms covered in bite marks and bruises, looked at Mali with haunted eyes. "Will you treat us like animals, too?"
Mali shook his head. "You're Uzumaki. We know what it means to lose everything. With us, you'll be safe. We promise."
It was not a rescue in the truest sense, nor a kidnapping. It was a desperate gamble for survival, for both clans. The mothers, seeing no other hope, accepted.
An Isolated Refuge
Days later, the Uchiha radicals reached their destination—an isolated island, shrouded in mist and far from any main trade route. Here, they could rest, regroup, and plan for the future. The Uzumaki mothers and their babies were given shelter and food, and for the first time in weeks, the refugees slept without fear of immediate pursuit.
Mali stood on the rocky shore, watching the waves crash against the cliffs. "We're safe for now," he murmured, "but we can't hide forever."
Raigen joined him, eyes hard. "We'll build something new here. A place for those the world has cast aside."
The Hunt Begins
Back in Konoha, Danzo's Root operatives moved like shadows through the forests, hunting for any trace of the Uchiha radicals. Orders were clear: capture Mali and his company alive if possible, eliminate if not. ANBU teams, led by grim-faced captains, fanned out across the borderlands, following the faintest rumors.
In a candlelit Root chamber, Danzo addressed his lieutenants. "The Uchiha cannot be allowed to regroup. Find them. Bring me their secrets."
Seeds of the Future
On the island, Mali gathered the clan's survivors, Uzumaki and Uchiha alike. "We are not just refugees," he told them. "We are the future. They will hunt us, but we will endure. We will show the world what it means to survive."
As the sun set, casting long shadows over the waves, the new clan huddled together, bound by loss and hope. In Konoha and beyond, the hunt for the Uchiha had only just begun.
