Twilight - Dimensional Traveler

Chapter 24: Baseball

While they were talking, Bella noticed Jasper behaving oddly—and so did Carlisle.

"Sorry. Jasper is our newest vegetarian. It's a little tough for him," Carlisle said apologetically.

"Pleasure to meet you," Jasper said, never taking his eyes off Bella.

Mark, who still hadn't answered the question about his scent, felt relieved when the topic changed. He didn't know the answer either.

Could it have something to do with a trait or ability I purchased from the shop? Mark wondered.

"It's okay, Jasper won't hurt her," Alice reassured him.

"Alright, I'll take you to see the rest of the house."

Edward just wanted to get Bella away.

Since he was closest to her, he knew how hard it was every day not to lose control and attack Bella.

Saying that, he led her away.

"See you soon," Alice said with a smile.

"Things went well," Carlisle said, and everyone was glad they hadn't lost control and attacked Bella.

"Well, you said you hadn't eaten—I'm glad, at least the food won't go to waste," Esme said.

"No worries. Leave it all to me—I won't waste a bite!" Mark replied.

"You never answered why you have no scent," Edythe said suddenly.

"Yes, I'm curious too," added Emmett.

"I don't know either... maybe it's one of my abilities?" Mark said, unsure.

"How many abilities do you have? Edythe only told us your eyes change and a blue flame wraps around your body," Alice asked, intrigued.

"Too many to count."

After that, Mark ate all the food Esme had made—which made her very happy.

Everyone was surprised he ate so much without even bloating.

Then Edythe showed him around her house and her room—which, to Mark's surprise, was super emo.

Everything went smoothly, and Mark returned home peacefully.

...

A few days later, Edythe invited Mark to play baseball.

Looking at the place where the vampires would attempt to attack Bella, Mark was practically buzzing with excitement.

He hoped they would show up so he could use his secret jutsu from the Hidden Leaf Village: A Thousand Years of Death.

It took a while, but Bella and Edward eventually arrived. Since Bella was just a regular human, everyone agreed she could act as the referee.

Mark didn't understand anything about baseball, so he watched from the sidelines.

The game kicked off—Alice was the pitcher, Rosalie the batter, and Esme was the catcher.

When thunder struck, Alice said, "It's time!"

Everyone got into position. Alice hurled the ball so fast it was hard to see.

But Rosalie had sharp eyes and lightning reflexes. With her first swing, she sent the ball flying with a boom.

Bella, watching the whole scene, finally understood why they played during a storm.

"Now I get why you need the thunder," she said.

Edward turned and chased the ball at breakneck speed, even before Rosalie started running.

"It's going to be a home run, right?" Bella asked Esme, who made a face.

"Edward's really fast," Esme replied.

The game continued smoothly and was halfway through when Alice suddenly turned toward something in the distance.

Mark noticed—he felt his heart race.

Finally. They're here. I'll wait until they try to attack Bella, and then I'll poke one of them right in the chrysanthemum. Mark thought.

"Stop," Alice shouted.

Everyone sensed something was wrong and quickly regrouped.

"They were leaving, but they heard us," Alice said, nervous.

Edward grabbed Bella to take her away, but Carlisle's voice stopped him.

"It's too late now."

Edythe rushed to Mark, looking worried. Before she could say anything, Mark spoke first:

"Don't worry—you know how strong I am."

"But..."

"It'll be fine. Trust me—there's no one in this world who can hurt me!" Mark cut her off.

Though she knew Mark was special, she had never seen his power firsthand. Remembering the overwhelming pressure she felt that day, she forced herself to stay calm.

Everyone gathered, with Bella kept safely in the back.

When they saw Mark stepping forward like one of them, they all wanted to speak—

"It's okay. You all know I'm special, and I have no scent. The issue is Bella."

Everyone nodded. Mark could pass as one of them. The problem was figuring out how to make the other vampires leave without noticing Bella.

Soon, three figures appeared in the distance—two men and one woman.

Mark stared at the trio, recognizing them from the movie.

Now the only question was, which one of them would get the Thousand Years of Death?

When the three stopped a few meters from the Cullens, the black man spoke first.

"I believe this belongs to you?"

He tossed the ball to Carlisle, who caught it without flinching.

"Thank you," Carlisle replied.

"I'm Laurent... and these are Victoria... and James," the black vampire introduced.

"I'm Carlisle, and this is my family," Carlisle said with a smile.

Like Mark, I, the author, know nothing about baseball, so I skipped the whole process. I wonder whether I should kill these vampires or let them live for future plots. I hope you enjoy these chapters... until next time.
