Chapter 21: Coordinates from Another World
"So? Are you afraid?" Mark asked with a smile.
Edythe had always suspected that Mark wasn't ordinary. She'd met people and vampires with unusual abilities, so she never thought much of it.
But now, looking at Mark, after what he had shown her, Edythe felt she was standing face-to-face with someone truly powerful.
When she heard his question, she glanced up and noticed the playful grin he gave her. A little flustered, she turned her head and responded:
"Afraid? I was just a little surprised—I wasn't expecting that, that's all!"
Mark didn't mind. He deactivated his transformation and returned to normal. He knew that form could put pressure on those around him.
He stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Edythe's waist, pulling her gently to him.
"I call that form Immortal Sage Mode," Mark explained.
Edythe, now in Mark's arms, looked into his eyes.
"Why 'Immortal Sage'?" she asked, curious.
"Because when I activate it, I feel like I can do absolutely anything," Mark said.
Edythe rested her head on Mark's shoulder and breathed in his familiar scent. It was comforting. It calmed her mind.
"Sounds incredibly powerful," Edythe said.
"It is—very powerful."
After that, the two skipped a few morning classes. They had much to talk about.
By midday, they returned as if nothing had happened—but their relationship had deepened significantly since that moment.
...
Back at home, Mark tossed his things into his room and headed to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
Once he'd filled his belly, he returned to his room. He began thinking—maybe he could help Edythe solve the problem that kept her from walking in the sunlight.
Throwing himself on the bed, Mark found a comfortable spot and opened the system shop.
After searching for a while, he found a few interesting items.
But none were quite right—so he decided to make one himself.
After purchasing the necessary materials, Mark crafted a bracelet. He designed it to negate all the typical downsides vampires would find unpleasant:
Being unable to go out in sunlight. Inability to eat food. Cold skin. Sterility.
He made several sets and planned to give them to the Cullen family during his next visit. Although he could've solved those issues some other way, he didn't want to do that—not yet.
Satisfied with the bracelets, Mark stored them in his dimensional space.
After finishing everything, he settled in to play a few games.
...
Elsewhere, in a luxurious home, Su Chen was sipping an expensive drink, and his expression was grim.
Earlier that morning, he'd been unsettled by Mark's gaze and had left in a hurry.
When he asked his system what that was, it informed him that Mark harbored hostility toward him.
That made Su Chen angry. How could someone like me, the rightful son of fortune, be expected to be polite to strangers?
Since arriving in this world, he'd believed he'd ascend with ease and sit atop it.
Although wealth was nice, what Su Chen truly coveted was the vampires' ability to live forever.
He could, of course, seek out other vampires and ask to be turned. But who would trust a stranger?
Su Chen didn't want to entrust his fate to anyone else.
He recalled that a few days ago, there had been a murder. While police claimed it was an animal attack, Su Chen knew it had been other vampires.
He remembered the vampire who had lost her mate—she's quite beautiful. Maybe he should try to win her over?
Even if the odds were low, he wanted to give it a shot. But first, he needed to prepare.
Finishing the last sip of his drink, Su Chen stood up. Wanting privacy due to his ability to travel to other worlds, he hadn't hired anyone to work in his house.
After giving his secretary a few instructions over the phone, he was ready to leave. He planned to explore other worlds and see what he could gain.
as long as he returned strong enough to protect himself from the vampires of this world, he would return to obtain immortality.
"System, let's return," Su Chen said.
[Understood.]
Without a sound, Su Chen vanished from the room—leaving behind only silence and an empty space.
