True Evil Ninja

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Then They All Deserved to Die!

Just as the Uchiha civil war was about to erupt—

A timid voice called out from the prison entrance.

"Lord Yoru…"

"W-we came to see Lord Yoru…"

The voice was so ordinary, so human, it clashed violently with the tension of a battlefield where Mangekyō wielders stood ready to kill.

For a moment, everyone froze.

Even Uchiha Shisui frowned.

"Who is that?"

An ANBU guard stammered, "Captain… it's just… civilians."

"Oh?"

Yoru's interest piqued. The voice was familiar.

Could it be—?

"W-we're Daiko's family. We heard Lord Yoru was imprisoned, so… we wanted to visit him."

"Could you… let us through?"

The ANBU guards snarled, "No visitors allowed in the prison!"

"B-but…"

So.

Daiko's family.

Daiko—the girl Sarutobi Jirou had burned alive with his Fire Release: Blazing Flame technique.

Yoru had executed Jirou in public, then slaughtered Sarutobi Hio for shielding the murderer. To the victims' families, he was a savior.

Of course they'd come.

Shisui understood—but to everyone's shock, he said:

"Let them in."

The guards hesitated. "Captain—"

"That's an order."

"…Yes."

"Go ahead."

"Th-thank you…"

A group of ordinary Konoha villagers shuffled inside, trembling under the suffocating killing intent. Yet they pressed forward, step by step, until—

"AHHH!"

A woman screamed.

Bodies. Rivers of blood.

The villagers turned pale.

Shisui said coolly, "All of them were killed by Uchiha Yoru."

Fugaku realized Shisui's plan—make them fear Yoru.

But then—

The woman stopped screaming.

Though her face was ghostly white, her voice was steel.

"Is that so?"

"Then they all deserved to die!"

Yoru's eyes flickered.

Shisui's face twisted.

"W-what did you say?!"

The woman glared. "If Lord Yoru killed them, they were evil."

"This bloodbath? A mercy!"

Shisui was speechless.

"You… trust him that much?"

She laughed coldly.

"Trust you instead?!"

"Where were the ANBU when Daiko was murdered?! Where were you, the 'great' shinobi?!"

"Without Lord Yoru, justice would've rotted in the dirt!"

"So don't you DARE judge him!"

Shisui recoiled.

Her eyes—more terrifying than the Mangekyō itself.

The other villagers shouted in agreement.

"Lord Yoru! We know you're innocent!"

"We're just civilians… We can't save you, but—"

"Please accept these gifts! They're not much, but…"

"We believe in you!"

Shisui stared at their offerings—eggs, vegetables, fruit.

Simple. Humble.

Yet they shattered him.

What did this mean?

He couldn't—wouldn't—think about it.

He had no retreat left.

Then, from the darkness, Yoru spoke.

"I accept."

"Now leave."

The villagers gasped, overjoyed.

"L-Lord Yoru! Stay strong!"

"Don't let those monsters win!"

For the first time in years, Yoru smiled.

"I won't."

Relieved, they placed their gifts on the ground and bowed.

"W-we'll go now…"

"Mm."

As Daiko's family left, the tension in the prison dissolved.

Shisui's fists clenched—but his will to fight was gone.

Yoru scoffed.

"Lost your conviction already?"

"Pathetic. At least if you were steadfast in your betrayal, I'd respect you."

"Now? You're just disappointing."

Shisui ignored the taunt.

"Yoru. If you killed this many, why spare the other prisoners?"

"And why stay?"

Yoru smirked. "You think I'm a mindless butcher?"

"I kill evil. Those who try to kill me."

"The rest? Their sins aren't mine to judge."

"As for 'escaping'—"

"This cage couldn't hold me if I wanted to leave."

"I stay because I choose to."

"I'm guiltless. Why flee?"

Shisui couldn't comprehend this man.

But Fugaku understood.

To outsiders, Yoru was a monster—ruthless, fanatical, twisted.

But beneath it?

A code.

A justice so unshakable, it governed even his own actions.

He was brutal to villains—but brutally fair to himself.

Fugaku didn't know where this philosophy came from.

Only Yoru did.

Some principles, carved into his soul across lifetimes, refused to fade.

That was why Fugaku said he was both "extreme" and "strangely idealistic."

Shisui hesitated.

Logically, he knew he could win this fight.

But his heart refused.

"Yoru… Will you truly await trial here?"

No answer. Yoru never repeated himself.

With a shuddering breath, Shisui deactivated his Mangekyō.

The ANBU gasped.

"Captain! The Hokage will—"

"This is your first mission as captain! If we return empty-handed—"

Shisui cut them off.

"I'll bear all responsibility."

He met Yoru's gaze. "This isn't over."

Yoru shrugged. "That depends on your sins."

Shisui shook his head. "You can't beat me."

"Even with the Mangekyō, your ocular power is infantile compared to mine."

"You don't understand its true potential."

Yoru did—but saw no point arguing.

Finally, Shisui turned to Fugaku.

*"Lord Fugaku…"*

"From now on…"

"You're on your own."

The shift from "Clan Leader" to "Fugaku" said everything.

With that, Shisui led the ANBU away.

Fugaku watched him go, sighing.

"What a pitiful man…"

Yoru's voice was ice.

"Pity is wasted on the willfully blind."

"He made his choice."

A heavy silence fell.

Then—

Fugaku took a deep breath.

"Yoru."

"From today onward—"

"You are the Captain of the Uchiha Police Force."
