Trapped By The Contract Assasin

Chapter 6: Chapter Six: Cruelty of a Fatuer

" When the ice has melted on your chest and feet, then your heart will be as cold as ice itself. " He leaned back and looked up, smiling at the ceiling.

" I would have preferred concrete, that way my heart would be like a stone. " She retorted calmly. Though she wasn't brought up to disrespect her father, she was brought up to have a mutual understanding with her Father.

Don Carlos walked out after taking a close look at his daughter. Ivy sighed and slept comfortably on the ice the two men had poured on the floor.

Shadow opened the door to the dungeon and the pale-looking Ivy walked out. She had eaten just twice in the last two weeks, her skin looked whitish like that of someone who had lost a lot of blood. She looked so tattered and unkempt, her hair looking very messy.

Shadow gave her a blanket to cover up her body and she rejected it without altering a word. She walked past him as though he never existed.

She walked to the car and sat behind. Shadow sat in the driver's seat. " You have a mission at 3 p.m. Master instructed you to get home and attend to yourself first. "

Ivy didn't respond to the instructions. She maintained her silence looking out the window while Shadow drove the car.

" Where is the Master? " she asked after a long drive in dead silence. She hasn't seen him since his last visit to the dungeon.

" He has a mission that has been pending for over two months now. But I haven't seen him since he last visited you, and the only thing I get is emails and letters. "

Shadow pulled up in the parking lot and Ivy jumped out of the car heading straight to her room. Shadow noticed she was hobbling a little. He felt sorry she had to be born on this side of life, a life where she didn't have a choice of her own.

When she got into the living room, the maids had prepared more than enough. She frowned at the dining table.

" A glass of lemonade would do, " She informed, hobbling upstairs. Not even sparing them a glance.

When she got to her room, she went into her bathroom and prepared a hot bath for herself, pouring in all the roses she had in the bathtub.

She hastily stripped off her clothes and drowned herself in the bathtub.

She remained in the bathtub till the hot water became cold. She got out feeling a lot better and new.

She sat in her room thinking about the next mission. Her feet still hurt but she didn't care at all, she felt pain worse than that. She reached out into her bedside drawer and got an ointment to apply to her ankle. It mostly has been as a result of sitting on it for a long time.

She left the room for her lemonade, and on reaching downstairs she found Shadow sitting on the couch waiting for her.

' You can leave now. I can handle everything from here. " She said indifferently.

Shadow cleared his throat. " I don't get my instructions from you. Master strictly ordered you to have something to eat when you get home. " He responded coldly. He had been patiently waiting for her. He was warned about visiting her room, which is why he stayed downstairs waiting for her to come down.

" I'm not hungry, "

" I sent the maid to come get you two hours ago but your door was locked and you weren't responding. " He responded, moving to the dining table.

Ivy noticed from his movements that he was warned not to leave till she had something to eat. She reluctantly followed him to the table and sat down.

"My lemonade, " She ordered the maid who looked scared.

" That comes after you've eaten, " Shadow opposed.

" And I don't take instructions from you, " Ivy retorted without sparing him a glance. The maid was confused about what to do, she had to respect both.

" My lemonade?"

" Don't you dare go to that kitchen, if you value your life? " Shadow threatened.

" Are you challenging me? " Ivy questioned with bloodshot eyes.

" Looks like I am," Shadow answered with a smirk. " What are you going to do about it? "

Ivy was already burning with anger, she just needed to burn something at the moment.

" Save that look for your next mission, " Shadow taunted with a shrug. The innocent maid noticed the tension and quickly left the dining room.

Ivy picked up the table knife closest to her and flung it at Shadow, who wasn't prepared for the attack. " Guess what?" She inquired with a smirk. " You are my next victim, "

The knife caught Shadow in the arm and he immediately pulled it out, looking as calm as a bunny. " Nice try, but you were close. "

" I can rip your heart out with my bare hands, " Ivy growled.

" I'd like to see you try," Shadow responded, still sounding as calm as ever, not minding the blood on his arm.

" Careful what you wish for, " Ivy threw a glass at him.

Shadow smartly swerved the attack. He walked closer to her and Ivy threw a horse kick at him, of which he tactfully avoided it.

Ivy felt disappointed and threw a punch at Shadow who caught her hand and they both came crashing to the floor, their hearts racing like waves rushing to the bangs of an ocean in stormy weather.

" You've forgotten so soon I trained in the same field as you, " He let out, taking her down.

" And you've forgotten so soon I was always a step ahead of you, " Ivy distracted him with her words and toppled him over.

She landed a punch on his cheek and stood up to her feet, Shadow jumped to his feet as well. " A fight it is, you lose, you eat. I lose, you have your lemonade."

" I'm having my lemonade, " Ivy declared, throwing a punch at Shadow who avoided it and counter-returned the punch.

They both kept fighting, throwing things here and there. Ivy tripped and was about to fall when Shadow caught her. Hearts pounding against their chest with exhaustion, Shadow used his free hand to remove the hair from her face.

He got lost in her eyes and at that moment he forgot his Master was watching every action. All he could think about were those attractive blue eyes.

Ivy on the other hand felt dizzy and was about to lose consciousness.

Shadow felt drawn by her eyes and she subconsciously parted her lips, giving Shadow an invitation to come in.

He tried fighting the urge to but couldn't. Knowing the consequence of that action, he still couldn't resist those smooth lips. Her eyes finally closed up and she had just a faint knowledge of what was going on.

Shadow mistook the situation for Ivy preparing herself for her first kiss and brought his face closer to kiss her.

" It has to end with someone winning the fight. Not you signing your death warrant. " Don Carlos interrupted him from the door.

Shadow startled. " Master, " Shadow greeted warmly.

Don Carlos walked in and sat down on the available chair. " But either way is always welcome to me, " He continued with a sinister smile.

" She is weak, Master. " Shadow informed him carrying her properly in his arms. " I think she might be ill,"

" The same blood that runs through my veins is the same as hers. " Don Carlos responded indifferently. " Drop her on the couch and go finish up your mission. "

Shadow did as told without any form of resistance. He knew he was in a big mess with the master. He let his desire take over his rationality.

He walked out of the mansion holding the arm Ivy attacked with a knife after making a respectful bow to his Master.

Don Carlos sat down beside his daughter and touched her hair lightly.

" You have to be stronger than ever, My time is almost up and I'm yet to complete the mission," he whispered, looking not like his usual self.

He got up and called out to the maids. Who came to help clean up the mess made by Shadow and Ivy. Ivy was abandoned to sleep on the couch in that unconscious state.

She opened her eyes to be sure her father had left already. " What mission?" She whispered to herself.

******

"Your mission begins at 5 p.m. Everything you need is in that envelope over there. " Don Carlos instructed.

" Got it, Master. "

" Respond Father, " He ordered.

" Understood Father, " Ivy responded respectfully. She picked up the envelope and started going through the information.

She looked confused at what was presented as information. " The information isn't complete, " She informed her father, with furrowed brows.

Don Carlos didn't say anything, he just sat there quietly looking at the confused Ivy flip through the pages.

" Minister X doesn't have a picture either. What if I end up taking the wrong person down? " She asked, still very much confused.

" Then it was a bad hair day for the poor unfortunate soul. "

After a brief silence, Ivy got up to leave but her father ordered her to sit down without saying anything.

" Soon enough you'll be in charge, I'm going for a long trip." Don Carlos informed, sniffing at his pipe.

" Understood, Father. "

" You already know how to run this business and I trust you'll keep the family legacy going. But you have to be the last of this generation. So don't forget your part too and the ultimate mission. "

Ivy had noticed some changes in her father's behavior. He called her by her actual name twice in a row. Hugged her and smiled at her genuinely.

They've bonded for the last 3 weeks and he made a couple of visits to her room.

" How long would the trip last? " Ivy asked.

" Till you breathe your last, Pearl." He answered. " I'm taking your soul along, you don't need it. "

" It was never mine,"

" Good. Now go study the mission carefully. You mustn't make a mistake or you go down for it," he said as Ivy got up to leave his office.

Ivy looked at him over her shoulder wondering what was coming her way. She hoped it wasn't what she thought.

" When you meet him, you'll know him. " Was all he said as Ivy left.

***"**

Ivy kept driving as fast as she couldn't miss her victim. She had been tailing the Lambo for over an hour.

She finally caught up to the car. Driving close to the car she saw a geriatric man sitting behind the wheel. She drove ahead and blocked his movement with her car.

After a couple of minutes, she stepped out with a match in her hands. She walked to the car of her victim with a sinister smile.

On seeing her victim, her eyes almost fell off its sockets. She couldn't believe her eyes… confused at what to say. She remained muffled.

" Fa… Father!! " she stuttered, shaking her head in disbelief.

" Never normalize who you kill. "He informed Ivy with a sinister look.

"And I wasn't taught to bite the hand that fed me, Master. " Ivy retorted, putting down her gun.

" The hand that fed you could be used to pierce your eye." Don Carlos scoffed. " I made you kill your first love and now my time is up. "

" Father, I wouldn't want to betray my Master. " Ivy was jumbled at the moment. Thinking maybe her father was putting her to the test. Either to find out if she can one day turn against him or she has a heart beating against her chest.

" Rule number One, " Don Carlos recalled with a flare.

Ivy bowed her head in defeat. " Kill, or get killed. "

"Good, " he puffed on his pipe looking up. " You can still lose in this mission. I never said I'd make it easy for you. " He informed her with an enigmatic smile. " I'm more than willing to kill my daughter… I killed both my parents and can still do the same to you without the slightest hesitation. "

Ivy glared at her father. She smiled and pushed the button. The satisfied smile on her father's face the moment the car glasses winded up on its own, he knew then that the time had finally come.

Ivy walked away moving to her car while watching her father burn to ashes. She didn't feel pain, " Sorry, Don Carlos Warren, but I am my father's only breed. And delivering death is what I know best. "
