Chapter 11: Internet bar.
Stepping out of the taxi, Shen Waqing paid the fare before turning around to look at her destination.
The sun was a bit hot, which made her squint her eyes uncomfortably.
If it was up to her she would better prefer to stay at home, reading or slepping.
Anything other than stepping outside.
She didn't have to search as she easily caught sight of Lin Xinyu standing together with a familiar group.
She was wearing a oversized, green t-shirt and blue ripped jeans. Her hair separated into two ponytails held up by black ribbons tied in a bow.
The girl had one hand on her lips, swinging her hand bag back and forth as she waited.
There were six people with her. All of which Shen Waqing was familiar with.
Xu Mingjie was standing right next to her, with Yu Leqi and He Nuanxin discussing feverently about something on their phone.
There was also the class monitor Win, nicknamed, algebra, Fang Yichen and...
She almost frooze in the middle of the road when she saw Xiao Zhan among them.
"Yuwei!" Lin Xinyu waved at her as she crossed over.
Shen Waqing took a quick glance at Xiao Zhan again.
He had an impassive expression on his face. Hands tucked in, in his pants.
Was he forced to come? She doubted.
"Hello." Despite her thoughts, she greeted everyone.
"Yuwei is here. Now we are complete let's go in."
Looking around, Shen Waqing realises it is a old pack.
Although the attractions were running, it gave people a feeling that it was on its last leg and there weren't many people.
Just some families and couples. Not much of a crowd.
It felt more like a market with toy stalls and game shops scattered all around.
"The pack had been opened for almost twenty years. My dad used to bring me here when I was little." Lin Xinyu explained, then gave a little sigh. "But a new pack was built at the other side if city so there aren't much people nowadays. Back then you can't easily get around like this."
As you walk deeper you'd see an even more dilapidated part of the park. With equipments and sights that have been abandoned with signs of dusts and taped with warning signs.
Shen Waqing couldn't help but be curious.
Where exactly where they going to?
Soon her question was answered as they arrived at a eery looking building with a sign that said;
'underworld road haunted house'
The name itself left nothing to be said.
A girl dressed as a staff quickly walked to them. An overly energetic smile on her face.
Shen Waqing stepped back and almost bumped into the person behind her.
"Hello! Welcome to the Underworld road haunted house where you can experience the thin line between the living and the dead."
The others didn't seem disturbed at all as they were ushered to the ticket booth.
Surprisingly there was quite a number of people at the haunted house and it looked quite popular.
"How many tickets do you need? There are different levels. A new instance was just recently opened to the public would you like to try that?" The girl rambled on cheerfully.
"What do you think?" Lin Xinyu turned to the group and asked excitedly.
"Let's go for the normal level first." Xu Mingjie said thoughtfully.
"I have already been here before. Those ones aren't that impressive. Only weak chickens will be scared by that. We should go for the new instance." Fang Yichen norted lightly.
Shen Waqing who had no idea about this before and didn't really wanted to go "...."
Lin Xinyu sensing her gaze, rubbed her nose awkwardly. "Sorry I didn't tell you we were going to the haunted house before. I forgot."
Fang Yichen looked over, a sneer on his lips which were directed at Shen Waqing. "What nerd, are you scared?"
What's the matter with him?
She directly ignored him and said to Lin Xinyu. "I will go with the normal level, but none after than."
"Then it's settled. Eight tickets for the normal level please." Lin Xinyu turned to the girl at the counte
d who responded immediately.
They waited about ten minutes for the group inside to come out first before they were lead in.
The address Lin Xinyu sent her was an internet bar. Shen Waqing hopped out of the cab and paid the fee. A bit doubtful as she she stared at the building.
Suddenly someone popped out of the building. Seemly standing in wait.
"Yuwei."
Shen Wanqing squinted her eyes under the hot afternoon sun and saw that it was Lin Xinyu.
She was wearing a oversized, green t-shirt and blue ripped jeans. Her hair separated into two ponytails held up by black ribbons tied in a bow.
Shen Waqing crossed over to meet her. A black bag slung on her shoulder.
"You are here. Let's go inside everyone is already waiting." Lin Xinyu said and couldn't help but ask curiously. "How come your bag look so heavy?"
Shen Waqing didn't know what others do when they go out as she has never been invited before. Just in case there was free time. she decided to bring some past questions.
She had to make use of every second. The exams were coming close.
Hearing Lin Xinyu's question, she naturally replied. "Books."
"Books? Why did you bring books?" The girl was surprised.
Shen Waqing blinked at her and said in an obvious tone. "To study."
"Haha. Right." Lin Xinyu have two laughs and couldn't help contemplating internally.
Is this the life of top students? They don't even go anywhere without their books. Truly too scary.
She pushed the door of the private room open where the others were waiting.
Shen Waqing saw that although she might not be very familiar with them they were all classmates.
The room was a bit dim so it took some seconds for her eyes to fully adjust.
Apart from Lin Xinyu there were five other people.
The only people she knew where Xu Mingjie and the weird Fang Yichen.
He gave her a side glance as she walked in before quickly looking away.
Shen Waqing ignored him and greeted everyone.
"Hello. I am the class monitor. You should know me right. My name is Jin Zeyan. I am in the tenth position in the whole school, just after you. Right, that was before you dropped in your..."
Before he could finish someone pushed him to the side.
"Don't listen to him. He can talk for a whole day without stop. I am Yu Leqi I seat diagonal from you. If you look back and to the right." The girl wearing a dress with a heart shape on it introduced with a smile. She then pointed at the girl next to her. "This is He Nuanxin."
"Hello." He Nuanxin waved with a soft voice and Shen Waqing waved back.
The two made space for her to sit in the sofa.
Yu Leqi excitedly continued to scroll on her phone as she had been doing before. This time she dragged Shen Waqing into the conversation.
It seemed that her favorite author released a new book. Unfortunately it was in Korean and she was unable to get the Chinese copy of the paperback yet.
"The English version is already out." She pouted feeling down. "If I had listened to the teacher and study well in junior high I might have been fluent by now and could have read it."
"In your dreams." Class monitor Jin laughed mockingly from the side.
Yu Leqi glared at him and he immediately scooted further away.
"But haven't you already read it before." Shen Waqing asked curiously.
"You don't understand it is different when you have alive copy." Yu Leqi sighed. She then perked up, saying to Shen Waqing. "Would you like to read it? I have a pdf. Might be illegal but it's fine."
Shen Waqing was quite curious so she agreed. In her past life she didn't read much novels. There were too many things to do and not much free time. But now she has transmigrated into a one she naturally wanted to take a look.
She exchanged numbers with Yu Leqi and added her on WeChat.
There was a game set up in the private room and you can also set up a projection to watch a movie.
A perfect escape spot for delinquents.
The group decided to play a game.
"Do you know how to play?" Lin Xinyu asked and she shook her head.
"I will just watch." Shen Waqing said. She felt that her decision to bring the past question papers was a good one.
The sofa was quite comfortable so she brought them out intending to study.
"Do you carry your books everywhere you go?" Fang Yichen's voice came from behind her. A bit mocking. "Where does studying hard takes you? Or are you trying to prove that you are better than others studying all the time?"
"I don't mind. I like studying so I study." Shen Waqing looked at him nonchalantly.
He gave her a snort and then walked away. Shen Waqing didn't mind.
There had also been a lot of people who used to advice her to give up studying and learn a skill in the past. Although things didn't end up well, She Waqing never regretted studying in school.
She watched then play. They all seem familiar with the game and the group looked like they hanged out alot.
Constant tapping of the game console accompanied the silence.
Lin Xinyu would swear loudly every once in a while, mostly threatening class monitor Jin who was obviously bad at playing and made their group fail most of the time.
After watching for a while she picked up the chemistry questions and started to solve.
About twenty minutes later there was a knock on the door and someone went to answer it. Shen Waqing was too immersed in what she was doing to notice, until someone placed a tray next to her.
With a frown she looked up at the intruder.
"Uh.... Xiao Zhan!" Shen Waqing was surprised as she blurted. "How come you are here?"
