Chapter 10: Task progress bar.
The next morning Shen Waqing already drafted a plan.
She will try to bring up the progress bar to fifty at the end of the day.
She woke up quite late so Pei Ruxue and mother Pei had already gone out for shopping.
Shen Waqing first set her sight on Aunt Li.
The old lady was busy in the kitchen making lunch when she arrived.
"Aunt Li is there anything I can help you with." She immediately went to her side. A bit eager.
Aunt Li was surprise then quickly shook her head. "Little lady shouldn't bother yourself with such task."
"It's no trouble. I don't have anything to do anyway."
Seeing that she I insisted on staying Aunt Li had bo choice but to give her a easy task. Rolling the dough for the dumplings.
Shen Waqing normally cooked for herself in the past so it wasn't hard to make.
"Aiyoo, little lady. You fold them pretty well. Round and plump. It definitely will come out well." Aunt Li complimented from the side, not one but stingy with her praises.
The system baked flash in her mind and the progress bar increased by four.
After that no matter what she did it didn't move anymore.
Shen Waqing doubted if she was doing something wrong.
When Mother Pei and Pei Ruxue returned from shopping she even helped them with their bags.
Ignoring their complex expression.
At the end of the day it was still stuck at 9 percent.
"System what is going on?" Shen Waqing felt tired after running around all day.
"There are certain criteria to be met for the task bar to increase. The host should try to explore on her own." The system replied after a few seconds.
So I just have to work mindlessly.
"The host shouldn't worry too much. Based on my analysis you are already way better than average newcomers." It assured in a human like voice.
"So there are others like me too?" She was a bit curious about this system and host thing and sometimes she couldn't help but wonder what exactly was behind it.
"Two system hosts can't exit in one world. In other world's. Yes." After this the system fell silent and Shen Waqing no longer asked it anymore questions.
She understood.
Lying in bed, Shen Waqing stared blankly at the ceiling. Her mind unnaturally calm.
It reminded her of when she lived alone in the past.
The apartment was cold and empty. She didn't have enough money to feed herself and also support her education which left nothing for her to even afford buying a television or new furnitures after moving in.
Shen Waqing lived alone. She was a loner at school and even in society.
She just didn't know how to get along with others.
Everyone either admired or hated her at school.
It was either she was an unreachable genius or an arrogant know it all.
But they all stayed clear of her, and she didn't mind.
She didn't mind at all.
Shen Waqing place her palm on her face. Covering her eyes.
Better not to think of those stuffs anymore.
Almost drifting into sleep, she opened her eyes again when her phone next to the pillow started to ring.
With a slight frown, she rolled over to pick it up. Just as she pressed the answer button when a loud cry came from the speaker.
"Shen Waqing! Help me!"
The sleep vanished from Shen Waqing's, immediately growing alert.
"I really think I am about to die. My stomach hurts so much. Yuwei you have you help me with my homework!" Lin Xinyu continued to sob into the phone.
Shen Waqing froze. Hearing no reply, Lin Xinyu realised she might have overdone it. After all calling someone like this late at night no matter how you look at it might lead to some misunderstandings.
"I am sorry I was just too desperate just now. Did I scare you?" She said in a small voice, starting to feel guilty.
Since she already apologized Shen Waqing didn't bring it up anymore. "What homework is it?"
"Of course the math homework old Wang gave to us. The tyrant queen at home says since the exam is just a week away that I should study more. She refused to give me even a bite of food until I finish the homework! I am so pitiful." Lin Xinyu was sprawled on the ground with books surrounding her. Even after pulling all her hair out she still couldn't solve even one of them.
"Let's switch to video call." Shen Waqing got up fully. She also haven't don't that particular homework yet so she moved from the bed to the reading table.
Shen Waqing didn't help her solve it directly but patiently explained the process and with this the two went back and forth several times.
She noticed that her problem most times wasn't the formula but how to use them in different situations and combing two or more formulas.
After about a hour, they successfully solved the last question.
"Thank you so much. You are so amazing Yuwei." Lin Xinyu said excitedly then sighed. "The last tutor my mom hired quit. I know it's not his fault. I might be a bit slow sometimes."
"It's nothing much." Shen Waqing replied calmly.
She was used to teaching the kids at the orphanage, as she volunteered when she had the chances. To teach in a kindergarten one must have both patient and preserverance.
Lin Xinyu was really hungry, after all she hadn't had dinner. Yet there was also a small joy in achieving doing her homework herself.
She giggled cheerfully, then slapped her thigh loudly as she remembered something. "Right. Tomorrow we plan to go out together to play. Next week will be busy with exam preparation and it might be the only chance we have to play around before the exam. Do you want to come.
Shen Waqing instinctly wanted to refuse but held back.
She was still struggling with the task one progress.
She needed to test all the possibilities!
"Okay I will come." Shen Waqing agreed after thinking for a moment.
"Then I will send you the address." Lin Xinyu quickly said as if afraid she'd change her mind.
While she was tidying her desk she received the meet up time and address. There was also a older message in her inbox from Shi Mei.
Shen Waqing didn't want to get involved with her. After all Pei Yuwei's bad ending in the book 90 percent had something to do with her. So she just ignored it.
