Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Squad Leader Kakashi
Naruto spent a pleasant afternoon with his little brother, Konohamaru.
Naruto took Konohamaru scouting for material on the streets, then at a bookstore, and finally, personally at a bathhouse.
Cough, cough, scratch that last one, it was purely an accident.
In any case, Naruto's Sexy Jutsu lesson was quite successful.
Naruto the great painter's aesthetic sense was no joke. Under his guidance, Konohamaru's Sexy Jutsu directly caused Ebisu, Konohamaru's private tutor, to have a massive nosebleed, almost bleeding himself to death.
The next day, on the way to the explanation meeting.
Just like yesterday, Naruto encountered Konohamaru ambushing him again. Unfortunately, Konohamaru's disguise was too poor, and Naruto, not wanting to play along, saw through it instantly.
"Konohamaru, homework check! Perform it again for me."
"Okay, boss!"
Bang~
After a puff of smoke, a beautiful woman with black hair appeared.
Not bad, he's already got about 30% of my skill.
Naruto drew large, wavy S-shapes with his hands, continuing to impart the essence of the jutsu. "Curves, remember, the curves must be beautiful."
"That's all for today. I have something to do," Naruto said, preparing to leave.
"Boss, what are you going to do?"
Naruto turned his head and pointed at his forehead protector. "See that? I'm a ninja now. I don't have time to play house with you anymore."
"Awesome, Aniki!"
This is awesome too?
This kid's emotional support is off the charts.
Upon arriving at the academy, Naruto found that almost everyone in the class had already arrived.
Before he could even exchange a few words with others, Iruka-sensei entered and announced the rules.
"Congratulations! From today onwards, you are all ninjas capable of standing on your own. But remember, you are still just novice Genin. The real hard work has just begun." Iruka's eyes swept over the students, a flicker of memories passing through them.
Each of these students was the result of his six years of diligent nurturing. He worried they wouldn't go far, and even more, he worried they would face danger.
After all, the ninja profession was extremely perilous.
But he couldn't stop them; he could only hope everything would go smoothly for them.
"From now on, each of you will be grouped into three-person squads and will carry out missions together under a Jonin sensei."
Oh?
Naruto's spirits lifted. Three-person squads?
He thought he'd be trained individually by a senior.
Right, how many Jonin could there be? And the academy graduates students every year.
"To ensure each squad has balanced strength, the sensei will decide the groupings. Squad One..."
Until.
"Next is Squad Seven: Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto: Seven? I like that number.
He didn't care who his teammates were; none of them would be stronger than him anyway.
But it would be even better if they were people he could talk to.
"Sakura Haruno."
Sakura Haruno glanced at Naruto with disdain. For six years, ever since the "Naruto vs. Seven" incident in first grade, Naruto had been consistently mediocre, and his test scores were always at the bottom.
Becoming a ninja meant undertaking dangerous missions, and she wanted her teammates to be as strong as possible.
Sakura Haruno: Why do I have to be on a team with him?
Naruto: Sakura Haruno? Haven't really talked much. She's Sasuke's admirer, I think?
"Sasuke Uchiha."
Sasuke Uchiha: Naruto, huh?
Sakura Haruno: Yes!
Naruto: Sasuke, at least we can talk.
If scored from 0-10, with 0 being bad, 10 being good, and 5 being a stranger.
His relationship with Sasuke should be between 6-7. Not close, but not strangers; they could at least chat.
Ever since the Uchiha clan massacre, Sasuke had been shrouded in the shadow of Itachi Uchiha, constantly training with a bitter hatred, rarely participating in group activities. The two of them had little interaction outside of class.
He hadn't expected to be placed in the same squad as Sasuke.
He had originally thought that if they were separated by team assignments, he wouldn't be able to observe the protagonist getting stronger up close.
This team assignment was simply perfect.
Thinking this, Naruto glanced at Sasuke. Sasuke happened to look over, and it seemed they had a telepathic connection.
Naruto gave a thumbs-up, signaling pleasant cooperation.
Sasuke didn't show much reaction, simply looking away.
Naruto wasn't discouraged. It was rare enough for this guy to even turn his head and look at him.
"That concludes the team assignments. Your Jonin sensei will be introduced this afternoon. For now, you are dismissed."
At noon.
Naruto wanted to ask Shikamaru and Choji to eat, but the two had already gone somewhere with Ino.
Finally, Naruto found Sasuke, and the two sat on the edge of the rooftop to eat.
"From now on, we'll be eating from the same pot. I'll take good care of you."
"Focus on yourself first, dead last."
Haha, Naruto smiled.
How did he manage to make the taciturn Sasuke talk more?
However, noticing that Sasuke only had rice balls for lunch, Naruto ate his three dishes and one soup with exaggerated relish.
Soon after, Sakura Haruno found her way to them from somewhere and joined them in a corner to eat.
The afternoon arrived, in the classroom.
"He's so slow."
Naruto leaned back, looking at the ceiling, grumbling impatiently.
All the other teams had already been taken away by their respective Jonin sensei, leaving only Squad Seven in the classroom.
Why wasn't their Jonin sensei here yet? He was waiting to complete his main mission quickly and become a Genin as soon as possible.
Only by becoming a Genin could he use the dueling arena.
The system had been loading for almost ten years, and he still hadn't experienced the dueling arena. He had waited so long that the flowers had wilted.
But who would their squad leader Jonin be?
If it was a cool older woman, like Kiba and Hinata's sensei, that would be even better.
He secretly glanced at Sasuke.
He was sitting in his seat just like Naruto, appearing calm on the surface. It was impossible to guess what he was thinking.
Sakura Haruno, whom he didn't know much about, had long since grown restless and was pacing back and forth at the front, clearly impatient as well.
"Hello there."
A white-haired man walked in from outside, greeting them as he entered.
Their three gazes uniformly turned to the newcomer.
White hair, a gray mask covering his entire face except for a pair of eyes. His left eye was covered by his forehead protector; surely he wasn't blind?
This strange, listless appearance.
Give me back my beautiful older woman!
"I apologize for being late. Now, follow me."
On the rooftop.
The three of them sat facing the white-haired sensei.
"Let's start with self-introductions."
"How should we introduce ourselves? Sensei, why don't you go first?" Naruto asked curiously.
From a young age, whenever Naruto looked at someone, he would pay attention to their eyes.
Was it dislike, disgust, coldness, or a curse? Naruto knew at a glance.
But this white-haired sensei's eyes were unusual.
This was the first time Naruto had seen the term "dead fish eyes" vividly personified in someone.
These were lifeless eyes, eyes from which the light had vanished.
Some people are alive, but they are already dead.
This phrase perfectly described the white-haired sensei.
Yet, in Naruto's perception, this white-haired sensei was clearly a decent guy.
What kind of experiences had this person gone through?
"Me? My name is Kakashi Hatake. What I like and dislike, I don't feel like telling you. As for my dreams... I have many hobbies..."
Naruto, Sakura Haruno, Sasuke: "..."
He pretty much said nothing at all.
