Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Wood Release Ninja, Naruto Uzumaki
The next day, as soon as class began, a ninja arrived with an announcement. Because Teacher Oda was still in the hospital and a new homeroom teacher hadn't been assigned, they would have self-study today.
After the person left, "Woohoo~!" The elementary students in the class instantly erupted. This wasn't self-study; this was a free-for-all! Seeing the mission complete and 2,000 experience points credited to his account, Naruto grinned happily. With 2,000 experience points, he could upgrade his two-tomoe Sharingan to three-tomoe when he got back. For experience points, these untouched pranks yielded the most. He looked forward to the next homeroom teacher.
"Teacher Oda should be alright, right?" Choji asked.
Naruto looked at him in surprise. He never would have guessed that beneath Choji's plump exterior lay such kindness; the other students didn't care at all, their minds already soaring elsewhere.
"Nothing serious, just a couple of good days of sleep," Naruto, as the person involved, explained.
He traded seats with a classmate for a bag of chips and a bottle of soda. The three of them were now seatmates.
"So, what should we do?"
Looking at his new friend Naruto and old friend Shikamaru, Choji was momentarily unsure what these two liked to do. Finally, he suggested, "How about we go eat dango? It's really good."
"I want to go to the rooftop to watch clouds," Shikamaru replied.
"My suggestion is to buy dango first, and then go to the rooftop to watch clouds," Naruto synthesized their opinions.
"Okay," chorused Choji and Shikamaru.
Automatically glancing at Sasuke, Naruto said, "Wait for me." He walked over.
"Sasu—"
Bang!
Again, before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by money slammed onto the desk.
Well, this had practically become his daily quest.
Placing the 2-liter soda on the table, Naruto cursed Sasuke to silently get fat after drinking all that soda. Then he'd get to see a chubby protagonist! It sounded quite interesting. He eagerly anticipated it.
However, Sasuke might just throw the drink away when he got home. Oh well, who cared? Once the drink was sold, it was no longer his concern.
Just as he was about to head back, Naruto's peripheral vision caught three people cornering a little girl against a wall.
School bullying? Naruto instantly perked up. Facing such evil, he, Naruto Uzumaki, the Scourge of Injustice, would never stand by idly!
Wait, something felt off. Never mind.
Charge!
"Such evil eyes."
"White-eyed monster~"
"Let go of that girl!" Naruto yelled, blocking Hinata.
Seeing these three, Naruto suddenly had the illusion that his enemies were destined to meet again. Weren't these the three guys he chased off last year?
"You don't seem to be from this class?"
"Is it him?" the leading punk nervously asked the kid next to him.
"Looks like it."
"Run, the devil's here."
"Run!"
This time, before Naruto even had to act, the three punks seemed to recognize him and immediately bolted. Seeing this, Naruto felt a hint of disappointment. He had expected an evenly matched fight, but that was it?
It seemed the dark forces of this ninja academy desperately needed nurturing. Otherwise, his role as the Scourge of Injustice would have no place to shine. And if he didn't shine, how would he get experience to level up?
[Ding~]
Fortunately, this "Flower Guardian" mission still awarded experience and chakra.
Naruto turned to look at the "flower" he had just protected. What a coincidence, wasn't this Hinata?
It's you again.jpg
It seemed like she was always the one getting picked on. Seriously, she was the legitimate daughter of the Hyuga clan, one of the only two major clans in Konoha! She should be picking on others, not getting picked on herself. Hinata, you need to toughen up!
Looking at Hinata again, Naruto felt that this girl seemed overly gentle. On a daily basis, he could sense it; what Naruto initially thought was timidity was actually just her inherently gentle nature. Such a personality seemed ill-suited for this cruel ninja world.
"Are you okay?"
Hinata looked up and thanked him gently, "Thank you, Naruto-kun."
"No problem."
They were very close, their gazes meeting. This was the first time Naruto had seen a Byakugan up close. Just as it's rude to stare at a limping person's leg, Naruto had never truly observed the Byakugan before.
Perhaps it was because he had seen so many other eye colors, but now, seeing the Byakugan, with its purely white and exceptionally bright irises, Naruto suddenly felt that these eyes were actually quite beautiful.
"Don't listen to their nonsense, your eyes are very pretty," Naruto comforted her. His words were unusually sincere.
Then, Naruto noticed that Hinata's face was extremely flushed, and steam even began to rise from her head. Then, Hinata gloriously fainted.
Naruto was completely bewildered. He couldn't even manage to catch her. At this moment, only one thought was in his mind: Oh no, she's relying on me.
She was perfectly fine when those three punks bullied her. But as soon as he came over, she just fainted.
It was intentional, absolutely intentional.
The scene shifts.
Naruto, Shikamaru, and Choji walked out of the Konoha Hospital one after another. This time, they weren't visiting their teacher—he wasn't worth visiting—they were there to drop off Hinata.
Fortunately, a quick check showed nothing serious. At first, Naruto was worried the Hyuga clan would use this to pressure the old Hokage, but then he thought about it—it wouldn't come to that.
The academy's lessons were more intense than expected. In sparring class, it was common for two elementary students to get into big fights, with bloody noses and unconsciousness being commonplace. In the past few days, Naruto had seen several incidents of blood-splattering due to combat among the older students. Something like Hinata's situation was completely minor.
"Let's go, let's buy dango first."
"To the dango shop!" chorused Shikamaru and Choji.
The three departing boys didn't notice that from an upstairs window, the awakened Hinata was silently staring at their retreating figures.
That evening, in the training space.
Naruto pressed his palms together, his face strained, looking like he was trying to hold in a big one. In reality, he was trying to fuse his Earth and Water Release chakra to synthesize Wood Release.
Naruto already possessed other single-element chakra from the start, and they instantly leveled up to mastery. So, there was nothing to learn from the usual method of acquiring new chakra natures through training. Let alone the high-difficulty operation of fusing two chakra natures.
Fortunately, his seven chakra natures had already reached perfect and maxed levels after two years of training. Otherwise, Naruto wouldn't even know where to begin to fuse two chakra natures.
Of course, his SSSSSS-rank talent also provided a huge bonus in synthesizing new chakra.
"It's done!"
Naruto shouted, opening his eyes, which were filled with pleasant surprise!
[Through training, you have fused Earth Release and Water Release, synthesizing Wood Release chakra.]
[Wood Release detected. You need to complete the Wood Release Synthesis mission.]
[You have SSSSSS-rank talent detected. You automatically possess Wood Release chakra.]
[Your Wood Release chakra nature proficiency +1500]
[Wood Release: 1500/2000 (Mastered)]
"Congratulations, Naruto."
"Come, Kurama, let's practice." Naruto was eager to try out this new Wood Release.
Although he hadn't learned any Wood Release jutsu yet, his nearly three million chakra, comparable to a Tailed Beast's, was almost inexhaustible. His incredibly high chakra control, over 300, made him wield any chakra as easily as moving his arm. His equally high jutsu comprehension, also over 300, allowed him to casually use any ninjutsu, and creating new ninjutsu was incredibly simple.
Kurama was also itching for a fight. I couldn't bully the First Hokage, but I can bully this little brat who just mastered Wood Release, right? Kurama roared: The day of revenge against the First Hokage is coming!
A moment later,
"Kurama, you're so weak!"
Kurama, completely suppressed by nine wood dragons: For my peanuts! For my peanuts!
