Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Naruto's Art of Painting

Naruto fumbled with his Sharingan for a bit. Before long, he discovered the true purpose of these eyes.

"Besides enhanced dynamic vision, these eyes are truly a natural medium for casting genjutsu!"

With just a glare, he could trap enemies in illusions, leaving them unable to escape. The Uchiha ninja must be incredibly skilled in genjutsu, right?

After playing around with his Sharingan for a while longer, Naruto deactivated it and headed to the academy.

Though his current strength likely meant the academy teachers couldn't teach him much more, the academy offered more than just ways to get stronger; the systematic knowledge it provided was precisely what Naruto needed right now. Moreover, the Ninja Academy was currently his only window into understanding this world.

As for skipping class? In his previous life, Naruto was a good student. Even if he'd act dumb to grow stronger in this life, meaning his test scores wouldn't be high, he'd still listen attentively in class. Skipping class was only because the early content at the Ninja Academy was too easy.

Perfect. Naruto planned to use this easy period to get a new homeroom teacher. Otherwise, he could foresee his six years at the academy being spent in discrimination.

If the teacher's attitude inadvertently influenced his classmates, there'd be no place for him at school. Would he have to resort to killing them then? Not only would the Third Hokage disagree, but Naruto wouldn't do it himself either. So, the homeroom teacher had to be changed!

Upon arriving at school, he quickly settled down, and Choji immediately sought him out.

"Naruto, did you skip class yesterday? Oda-sensei searched the whole school but couldn't find you," Choji asked him, munching on potato chips.

"Being punished was too boring, so I went fishing instead. I caught several big ones!" Speaking of his catch, Naruto exaggeratedly gestured. Hearing this, Choji looked quite envious. Such big fish must be delicious; the thought alone made him drool.

As they chatted, Naruto noticed Sasuke sitting in his seat, still looking cool with a cold expression. Numerous girls surrounded him, trying to curry favor. Naruto felt nothing for that circle of little girls. He only liked girls between 18 and 25 years old. That was true now, would be true in the future, and probably when he got old too. It seemed he was quite unswerving.

At this moment, his eyes were only on Sasuke. Naruto stood up and walked over.

"Yo, Master Sasuke, today..."

Clunk~

To Naruto's surprise, before he could even finish speaking, Sasuke had already placed money on the table. It wasn't until he returned to his seat that Naruto realized. Did this guy find him annoying and pay him to shut up? It was very possible.

This little brat!

The school bell rang.

Splash~~~

Homeroom teacher Oda-sensei had just opened the door when a bucket of water drenched him. Naruto turned to Choji, exasperated, and muttered, "What a dumb teacher, falling for the same trap twice."

This time, Oda Ichiro didn't need a snitch to know who the culprit was.

"Uzumaki Naruto!!! Get out and stand in the hall!"

Walking outside, Naruto noticed no one was in the corridor. He thought about it and decided to skip class. There was no point in attending this one anyway!

Oda-sensei was still fuming. This child, no, this fox-demon was truly infuriating! Although the higher-ups had repeatedly ordered them not to discriminate against Naruto, this kid was simply too mischievous.

From now on, he wouldn't bother with him anymore! He'd let him fend for himself. Thinking this, he composed himself and continued the lesson.

"Last time we talked about Chakra. There are still a few things to note about Chakra extraction." Oda-sensei picked up a piece of chalk, ready to write on the blackboard.

Suddenly, the chalk transformed into a snake and lunged at Oda-sensei. Having been a school teacher for so long, Oda Ichiro's ninja alertness had long vanished. Bitten instantly, the snake venom took effect, and he collapsed onto the ground, dizzy.

"Oda-sensei~" x N

However, all of this was irrelevant to Naruto for now. The snake venom was specifically chosen so it wouldn't kill anyone. He was currently busy with his pranks.

Pranking was hard to quit once you got used to it. Like the Hokage faces on the monument, he was so used to drawing on them that he felt uncomfortable if he didn't do it for a week.

However, today's style was a bit mixed.

The First and Second Hokage were done in a boys' love style, with sharp eyebrows, starry eyes, and their original stone sculptures coming to life under his brushstrokes, like two handsome men.

The Third Hokage was still alive, so Naruto chose to be a bit respectful and went with a tough, rugged style, all sharp angles and looking very strong.

The Fourth Hokage, meanwhile, was depicted in a Norse pirate style, with a vivid little mustache and a single eye patch over his left eye. He looked very much like a pirate.

However, the rewards for doing similar pranks were getting lower and lower. He was almost doing it as a 'public service' now, but he couldn't help but enjoy it.

After finishing, Naruto admired his masterpiece.

But when he looked at his skill bar, he couldn't hold back. He wasn't sure if it was because he had drawn so much or if his SSSSSS-rank talent was too powerful.

Unbeknownst to him, he had maxed out his Painting skill just by doing mischievous doodles. Naruto was speechless.

Similarly, his Fishing and Cooking skills were also maxed out. Now, Naruto didn't even want to fish anymore; fish would bite even with a straight hook. It was simply boring.

What should he do next?

"Oh well, I guess I'll go fishing."

Meanwhile, the Third Hokage, who was watching the Hokage faces from his window, was also struggling to maintain his composure. Although he had always been quite serious, seeing the First and Second Hokage, two dignified and serious Hokage, depicted in such ridiculous ways, anyone who knew them would burst out laughing.

"I never thought that boy had such a talent for painting," the Third Hokage muttered, taking a drag from his pipe and falling into thought.

On the other side.

Choji and Shikamaru, who had the day off because their homeroom teacher went to the hospital, also quite appreciated Naruto's painting art.

"Shikamaru, look~"

While strolling, Choji suddenly pointed at some random graffiti on the side of the road, alerting Shikamaru.

"What is it?"

"Don't you think it's really well drawn?"

Shikamaru looked closely. He usually didn't pay attention to such things, as they were just random scribbles on the street.

But now, looking closely, the chaotic colors of the graffiti were surprisingly well-matched, and despite lacking compositional technique, it was unexpectedly harmonious, possessing a beauty of returning to simplicity. Shikamaru hadn't studied art, but at a glance, he knew it was indeed beautiful.

"Did Naruto draw this?" Shikamaru asked curiously.

"He seems to be the only one in the village who does this."

Shikamaru suddenly felt a bit curious about Naruto. "What's he doing now?"

"After he got kicked out of class yesterday, he went fishing. He's probably fishing now, too?"

"Fishing, huh~"

Shikamaru recalled his fishing trip with his father; it was indeed a way to pass the time. Other than wasting time, he gained nothing.

"How about we go too?"

Choji suggested, "Naruto said he caught a huge fish yesterday, as big as a person."

"Idiot, that's impossible. We don't have fish that big around here, unless it's by the sea."

After saying that, Shikamaru thought for a moment, then added, "But, it's too boring here, so going to check it out wouldn't hurt."

Shikamaru, who had confidently declared that such a big fish was impossible, revealed the most astonished expression of his life the moment he saw Naruto.

"You guys picked a good time to come."

Naruto had just dragged a fish longer than himself onto the shore when he turned and saw the two.

"Wow~ What a huge fish."

Seeing such a big fish, Choji immediately abandoned Shikamaru and ran over, exclaiming excitedly.

"Naruto, can you cook fish?"

Choji was momentarily at a loss, wondering how they would handle such a large fish.

"Of course."

Naruto pointed to a spot not far away and said, "I have a campsite over there. We can roast this fish."

"You two are in for a treat this time."

Thinking of his own roasted fish, Naruto couldn't help but admire himself. The taste—he himself couldn't believe it was fish he had roasted. Just sprinkling a few things on it, the taste was surprisingly delicious. Naruto almost doubted his life. This was probably the extravagance of a maxed-out skill.

Indeed, after eating Naruto's roasted fish, both of them also began to doubt their lives.

Choji cried as he ate, "Wuwu~ I've never eaten anything so delicious in my entire life!"

"Naruto, from today onwards, you are my best friend, Choji's best friend!" Choji declared that he had found his best friend in Naruto!

In response, Choji's former best friend—Shikamaru—said nothing, merely focusing on diligently eating his fish.
