There is something wrong with Hikigaya’s classroom of the Elite, as expected

Chapter 115

Chapter 115: The Self-Righteous Monkey

Kushida understood her situation very well. She had become friends with many people, especially being popular among the boys, relying on her sweet and cute appearance, and using small tricks like acting coquettish or pretending to be cute to win people over.

If Hikigaya were to put it, Kushida was the type of girl who could seamlessly blend into any group, no matter where or when. On the other hand, people like Ichinose and Haruno were the leaders of the atmosphere.

The difference between the two was very clear at a glance.

On the other hand, Kushida was extremely wary of Haruno. She knew very well that Hikigaya had a deep relationship with her. Although Kushida purposely avoided Haruno, the latter took the initiative to approach her, publicly claiming that she was her good friend.

At first, Kushida was very resistant, but gradually she noticed that some of the girls from Class A, who usually wouldn’t even pay attention to her, had started showing her kindness. Some even took the initiative to talk to her. It seemed like she suddenly gained a lot of attention and praise, which made her happy, but also… wary.

Kushida knew the reason for this sudden change, and she knew who was the source of it.

In just a week, Kushida felt like her social circle had expanded more than twice. As long as she walked through the school corridors, she would always encounter girls who greeted her.

And knowing that it was much harder to gain the recognition of girls than boys, this change made Kushida realize that even the girls who used to talk behind her back, like Koyama and Shinohara, would gossip about how she was just a “flirt who relied on pleasing boys.”

But many times, Kushida pretended not to hear this. She also knew that her friendships and her reputation as the “cute girl” among the class were all based on making others like her.

So, Kushida both loved and hated the changes brought about by Haruno.

This time, when Haruno stepped in to help, using the excuse that “she and Kikyo were good friends,” even though Kushida didn’t want it in her heart, she still had to put on a face of joy and gratitude.

What was originally just a conflict between Class D and Class C had now escalated with the involvement of Class A and Class B, making the whole first year suddenly lively.

For Hirata and the others, this seemed like a good thing, as more help meant more strength and higher chances.

But Hikigaya had a feeling that things were slowly turning into something unpredictable. He might believe that Ichinose from Class B genuinely wanted to help, but as for Haruno—he couldn’t imagine she would step in to help for such a ridiculous reason.

“I feel like something is not quite right…” Hikigaya vaguely sensed that the situation surrounding Sudo’s fight was starting to take a different turn. It seemed like it had become a hidden power struggle between the classes.

And… Hikigaya hadn’t forgotten that the fight was seemingly targeted at Sudo, but in reality, it was directed at him. The plan was a good one, with two birds with one stone, but the signs were becoming too obvious.

So far, there hadn’t been any clues, but Hikigaya knew that the “bomb” Ryuen planted would eventually explode.

It had already been four days, and even with Haruno and Ichinose’s help, there was still no progress in finding witnesses. Gradually, the mood of everyone started to change significantly.

In Class D, Hirata once again stood at the front of the classroom, urging everyone to help find witnesses. However, the students below showed little to no response. They had already become accustomed to Hirata’s “daily speech.” After so many days and so many people, no one had found a witness—didn’t this already show something?

Looking at the classmates below, who were completely unresponsive, Hirata could only sigh helplessly. He was anxious but knew there was nothing else to do. He also understood that everyone had already “done their best,” so all he could do was comfort himself with a sigh.

Even though the class had given up, he wouldn’t give up on Sudo. He would find a way, Hirata reassured himself.

Hikigaya, looking at the others in the class, found it somewhat amusing. The people who disliked Sudo the most were the ones working the hardest to help him, while the ones who were closest to him, like the two fools, were acting as though it had nothing to do with them. It was truly ironic.

Hirata repeated his earlier words and was about to step down when suddenly, Ike stood up and said, “Hirata, we’ve been looking for witnesses for so many days without any clues, it’s definitely hopeless. So, I have an idea!”

Ike’s words immediately attracted everyone’s attention, and Sudo hurriedly asked what the plan was. Ike had a smug smile on his face, as if he really enjoyed the attention, especially from Hirata, whom he disliked.

Ike wiped his nose, then turned to point at Hikigaya in the distance, saying in a matter-of-fact tone, “Hikitani! Did you all forget? He’s a member of the student council now. Have him go ask the student council president for help, or have him go talk to those guys from Class C! Besides, he’s already in the student council, and when classmates run into trouble, of course he should step in to help!”

“That’s not possible, Ike…”

Hirata opened his mouth to correct Ike’s statement but was suddenly interrupted by another person. Yamauchi, as if having an epiphany, quickly spoke up, “Exactly! After all, this is a student council matter, so just let Hikitani handle it. He must have a way! And, this is his fault—Ken is totally innocent!”

Ike and Yamauchi, speaking one after another, shifted all the blame and responsibility onto Hikigaya, implying that as a member of the student council, he had the obligation to help Sudo and even suggested that he use his position for “internal manipulation.”

“Yamauchi, please don’t…”

Hirata’s face changed when he heard this, and he quickly spoke up to stop Yamauchi. However, Yamauchi seemed not to have heard him.

“Those guys from Class C said it was all because of Hikitani’s fault that they retaliated against Ken…”

Yamauchi directly brought up Ishizaki’s words and pointed the finger at Hikigaya, implying that Sudo was only involved because of Hikigaya’s actions, so Hikigaya must take responsibility.

For Yamauchi, this was his way of saving his “friend.”

Yamauchi’s words caused an uproar in the class!
