The Ytherrian Luminary

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Loyalty

As Kell lunged toward Lira, the air thickened with energy. His body pulsed with dark aura while Lira responded in kind with her own deep red, reinforced aura, both radiating with their respective powers. When their fists collided, the force sent a shockwave through the space, a testament to their intense abilities. The spirit controlling Kell spoke through him, revealing its insight into Kell's past: his battle with the spirit of darkness, his loyalty to Xalin, and the perplexing decision to entrust his soul to him.

Lira, hoping to jolt Kell back to his senses, dashed forward, conjuring a blood shield, and slammed into him with all her might. Kell, however, barely reacted, save for the slow, sinister smile that spread across his face. Blood trickled from his lip, but the possessed Kell seemed unaffected by the pain. His eyes still glowed a menacing yellow, and his hair now flowed freely as shadows began to gather around him, darkening the entire room. Lira's heart raced, sensing that something far more sinister was at play.

"Shadow Covenant!" Kell shouted, his voice echoing with the spirit's power. This was Kell's ultimate ability, one he had barely been able to maintain in his human state. But now, with the spirit's control and unlimited energy, he unleashed it effortlessly. The shadows around him thickened and twisted into monstrous forms, taking on the shape of demonic figures. A powerful demon loomed over the battlefield, its grotesque form tethered to Kell by the shadows.

Lira stared in shock. She knew this ability was unlike anything Kell had been able to fully wield before. Now, with the spirit in control, it seemed unstoppable. The "Shadow Covenant" made a pact with the demon, allowing Kell to control and manipulate the shadows to his will while commanding the demon as his servant. If Lira didn't act fast, the shadows would soon overwhelm her.

"Enough!" Lira roared, her aura surging with newfound fury. She activated her own transformation—"Blood Queen." Instantly, her body became enveloped in a sphere of dark red energy. A bubble of blood formed around her, hardening into warrior-like armor that covered her from head to toe. Her crimson locks flowed like rivers of blood, her eyes glowing with rage. In her hand, a massive blood-forged sword materialized, its blade gleaming with sharp intent.

In her new form, Lira exuded an aura of dominance. She was the Blood Queen, a terrifying force in her own right, and she was prepared to face Kell's possessed state head-on. The room was now a battlefield where shadows clashed with blood. The demon bellowed, lunging at her, but Lira swung her sword with precision, slicing through the shadows with ease.

As the fight intensified, the ground beneath them trembled, their auras clashing in a violent dance. Lira used her mastery of blood manipulation to counter the demon's attacks, her sword moving in arcs of pure red energy, cutting down the shadowy minions Kell summoned with every strike. But Kell, possessed by the spirit, was relentless, his movements calculated and cruel, making him nearly unrecognizable.

The spirit controlling Kell whispered through him, "Why do you fight so hard for him? He gave his soul away for another. Why not claim your own power?"

Lira gritted her teeth, refusing to listen. "Because he's my ally. And I won't let him fall under your control."

Kell lunged again, summoning more shadows to envelop Lira, but she stood her ground, her blood aura expanding outward, cutting through the darkness. The battle was far from over, but Lira knew that in order to save Kell, she would have to push herself beyond her limits—into a realm where even her blood magic might not be enough.
