Chapter 261: Zhang Bo's farewell to his fans____1
Alix and Holea took the same car to the venue. It was being driven by Holea's husband and accompanying them was Mu Mu, Holea's daughter. It had been at least a month since she had last seen the adorable little girl and Alix would not stop pinching and kissing her cheeks.
Mu Mu had stopped enjoying this unwanted attention after ten minutes and she went into sulking mode. She sent her mother pleading eyes but Holea did not come to her daughter's rescue.
"Auntie stop it, you will make me ugly." She whined.
Alix nuzzled Mu Mu's cheek with her nose and she laughed in a deep voice, "Ha- ha- ha, never."
Mu Mu's head dropped and she sighed, something which made Alix laugh loudly, this time round. Mu Mu was like a little adult so often. She had inherited most of Holea's stand-offish personality. Often times, she even chastised Alix and Jin Kang for behaving inappropriately.
She hugged Mu Mu and looked at Holea with very hopeful eyes. "Friend, can I take Mu Mu to my house for a while, like a week. Think of it like a free vacation my dear mama Holea."
"No." Holea answered.
"Yes." Her husband replied.
"Yes." Alix whispered.
"No." Holea said, again. "It's not happening." She even sent a fierce glare to her husband that was driving, warning him not to involve himself in the conversation or he would end up in trouble.
Alix had been married for two months now and she was still in a getting to know each other phase with her husband. It was bad enough that Xiaobo had been thrust on them in the first month of their marriage and he still stayed with them on occasion but to add Mu Mu to the mixture as well, would be a bad idea.
It seemed like Alix and Caishen were using buffers. It was as if they could not be in the house with each other alone and needed something in between as a distraction. Holea did not think that those two even realized what they were doing. They were playing relationship chicken in their marriage.
"Hooo," Alix whined, "Mama Holea, is one week too much? Why don't we make it three days?" She raised three fingers.
Mu Mu shook her head and sighed. Even she could tell that Alix was on a failed mission. Her mother's no was always firm and nothing could change it. "Give up, she will not accept."
Alix whispered into Mu Mu's ear, "Then convince her. Don't you want to sleep over with me? We can go shopping, I will take you to aunt Sen's restaurant and we can visit Turtle water world."
The mention of the water world made Mu Mu excited. It was the newest and biggest water park in the city. Some of her classmates had been there already and they would not stop talking about it.
"Don't try to bribe her or I will forbid the two of you from even speaking to each other." Holea warned Alix.
Mu Mu sighed and she wilted. She was like a little cat whose milk had been snatched away after being allowed a sniff. She leaned her head towards Alix and said in a whisper. "Mama Holea is too tough."
"I heard that." Holea said.
For the rest of the journey to the stadium which was the venue of Zhang Bo's fan meeting turned fan concert at the request of his thousands of fans, Alix and Mu Mu took turns annoying Holea until she surrendered, giving them only two days.
The stadium, when they arrived was packed almost to the brim. Four hundred thousand fans had come to witness Zhang Bo's last goodbye. Not all of them were just his fans, some had come because a few musicians had been included in the line-up. Most were from Light entertainment. Yura, Zhang Bo's mother and owner of the company which he was signed to was a wise business woman. Why hold a small fan meeting when you could make more money from holding a large concert.
While the others found their way to the VIP seats Alix was ushered to the back stage area because she would be performing with Chan Ki and also playing the opening music to Zhang Bo's entry onto the grand stage.
Yura was there waiting for her, anxiety written all over her face. As soon as she saw Alix, she grabbed her by the hand and shoved her into the chair for the make-up artist to begin working.
"Why did you take so long?"
"It was Zhang An, she is a slow eater." Alix replied instantly.
Yura was doubtful but she let it go anyway. She never imagined that Alix could be so relaxed or confident in light of what was about to happen. She was to play the piano and cello in front of a crowd of four hundred thousand people. Even though she was not a main performer, this was a big deal. Even famous singers were more nervous than her even though they had done something like this dozens of times.
Yura tested the waters and asked, "Are you nervous?"
Alix started to shake her head and say no but the make-up artists tightened her hold on her jaw. "Don't move."
"Do it lightly. She is already pretty and her skin is fair. Give her a natural look, I need elegant and classy not trashy and thirsty." Yura instructed the makeup artists.
"Thirsty!" Alix exclaimed.
Yura nodded and walked away to answer a phone call. Somehow, her departure gave both Alix and the make-up artist room to breathe. Her mother-in-law had a dominant personality; it seeped out of her pores even when she wasn't trying to let it out. Her voice was naturally commanding and when she looked down at you when she was giving instructions, it was like being watched by a predator.
The door to the large dressing room opened and Chan Ki walked in. Walking in was in fact a soft way of describing it. She was pushed in, albeit gently by Yura.
"What is wrong with all of you, why would you stop by a bakery to grab a bite to eat? Did anybody say that we would starve you?"
Chan Ki waved at Alix and pointed to her stomach then made a sad face. She did not even flinch at all when Yura was questioning her.
Alix nodded and pointed to her bag. Unless one knew how her bag worked, they could not access her compartments which made her confident in allowing her friends or people that she liked open it in search of snacks whenever needed.
Chan Ki, with a relieved look on her face, grabbed the bag which was sitting on the chair between them and she got a packet of biscuits which was sitting on top.
Yura snatched it out of her hands and shot her a displeased look. "Junk! Are you trying to eat junk before a performance?"
"I have mixed fruits in there too mother, she can just eat that." Alix said.
Yura personally decided to pick for Chan Ki what she should eat.
The door was opened and a woman peeked inside. "Ten minutes left for Zhang Bo to go on. Is the pianist on stand by?"
"Yes." Yura yelled.
Alix who was not even dressed yet looked at herself and she jumped up. She was not going up on the stage looking like this.
