The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system

Chapter 256: Back to hell

She looked from the doctor to Caishen and frowned. Who was the patient here? Wasn't the doctor supposed to listen to the patient?

"Doctor, I am fine. You can go." she repeated.

"But you are in pain." Caishen blurted out in disagreement. He moved his wheelchair closer to the edge of the bed and his eyes trailed to the position where her stomach was, under the thick white duvet. "Let the doctor check and prescribe something."

"Hubby, would I be smiling if I was in pain?" she asked.

"Yes." he responded immediately.

She hated the piano and she played it with a smile on her face of, course she was the kind of person to smile through pain.

But, boundaries and respect, he thought. He would not push it if she didn't want to be examined. So, he looked at the female doctor and he nodded. "You can go. You will still be paid for your time, thank you for coming."

Then, and only then did the doctor and the nurse move. Alix walked on her knees, approached the edge of the bed and then lifted Caishen out of the wheelchair. She placed him on the bed and covered them both.

When she turned to face him after making herself comfortable, she noticed the obviously displeased look on his face. It crossed her mind then that she had just lifted him, a thing he disliked.

"I must weigh nothing to you at all." He grumbled out.

"Right, you hate it when I do that. Hubby Zhang, sorry." She batted her eyelashes hopefully and rubbed her face against his cheek.

It was his pride and his ego that were bruised. It was also why they probably hadn't gone all the way yet in their physical relationship. Alix sighed and reminded herself to stop lifting him out of that wheelchair as if he weighed no more than a paper.

Bits of her breathe escaped her mouth and wafted into his nostrils.

He sniffed the air and asked, "Why does your breath smell sort of like smoke?"

She pulled her head away from him and covered her mouth. It was the dragon's flames, she guessed. Merging with Long, the dragon apparently left traces. She flattened her palm in front of her mouth and made 'haha' sounds in an attempt to smell her breath. It did smell a bit like a chimney.

She brought her head back, placed it on his chest and rested, with her eyes closed. It was true that she had cramps, they were light, not painful but still mildly irritating.

He put his hand on her head and gently swiped it over her hair. He asked then, "Do you secretly smoke?"

He really hoped that her answer was no. There were many things he could accept but he wasn't sure if his wife smoking was one of those things.

She chortled and said, "I breathed out fire earlier and set the heart of a wizard on fire."

He looked at the top of her head and he almost considered smacking it lightly. This was a serious conversation and she was thinking about gaming.

"Don't smoke. It's not cool and it will ruin your lungs. Cigarette smoking is responsible for eighty to ninety percent of all lung cancer cases in the world. If you fall ill and die because of lung cancer as a result of smoking I will re-marry immediately and call that woman sister hulk."

She pouted and lifted her head. Looking at his face, she said sincerely, "I don't smoke, I would never do that. If you dare to call another woman sister hulk, I will return from heaven and haunt you."

He smirked and asked her, "Who says you are going to heaven?"

Her mouth dropped open and she laughed. "You have a smart mouth Zhang Caishen. If you were not born rich with good looks, you would have been one of those kids that everyone in school hated."

He shrugged and chuckled softly. She was not saying anything new that he had not heard before from his friends. It's what happened when one had an answer for everything.

He looked at the window and saw tiny flakes of white falling from above. "Look, it's snowing."

She turned her head towards the window as well and smiled. "It's beautiful."

He touched her cheek and said in a soft voice, "It's the first snow of the year, you are here with me, your lover. Looks like your love has come true."

Alix had never been a big believer in superstitions. That first snow and meet your lover theory, she had tried it before and it never worked. Those relationships had all ended in failure. To her, snow was just snow, nothing special. She didn't believe that a rational man like Zhang Caishen believed in it either.

But, it felt nice to play make believe for a while. Heck, she had a bracelet that changed her bad luck and saved her from two accidents, and a system. Maybe superstitions were not that unthinkable.

There was also the rabbit's foot superstition. She personally had a lucky rabbit's foot that had helped two women become pregnant. She couldn't discredit the lucky rabbit's foot stories anymore.

As she thought about other random superstitions, her breath slowly deepened and she fell asleep, watching the first snow and surrounded by Caishen's warmth.

Caishen did not wake her up. He texted Biming and ordered for food to be prepared so that she could eat the minute she woke up, brown sugar water to ease her cramps if she had any, a hot water bottle and a thicker coat and boots. He also asked for his laptop to be brought into the room and soon, he went right back to working without waking her up.

As for the gold, he glanced at it occasionally and he decided that she would tell him about it when she was ready. Hopefully, she had not killed or stolen from someone to get it.

Then he wondered why a silly thought like that would cross his mind. He thought about the many times he had seen her kill monsters and pick up loots in the game she was obsessed with.

"That must be it, I am beginning to think about her game at the wrong time." he whispered to himself.

He continued lightly patting her head with one hand and a satisfied smile on his face.

Friday came around a day later and Alix returned to hell, or the Lin villa. Despite the threat Billi had made, she and Caishen showed up just in time for dinner at a time when everyone had assumed that they would not be coming.

It was snowing, and it was cold. She would rather have been anywhere but there. Even before the door was opened, she couldn't help feeling sick. She felt sick every time she came here.

"I think I am allergic to this house." She muttered.

Her aunt Lin Erya was the one who opened the door and she welcomed them with a smile.

"Xi Xi, you have come. This is so wonderful." She turned back, heading inside and loudly announcing, "Xi Xi and the son-in-law are here."

Alix sighed and winced as if she was in physical pain. "God I hate this place."

Caishen took her hand and he smiled. "Remember why we are here."

"Shares," Alix mumbled. She was here to wrangle as many of the Lin power holding shares as she could out of her scummy dad. "He is going to say no, you know."

Lin Qianfan would give up an arm and a leg before surrendering anymore shares to anyone, especially if it was Alix.

"Not to me." Caishen replied confidently.
