The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 509: Save Your Tears For Another Day

[RUSSEL]

Mbali's question was like a gut punch to trace who had been hoping his sister was doing better than him. They hadn't stayed long in the Cezaevi, but the horrors of that place were things that he wouldn't ever wish on his worst enemy.

Granted, they were out of that place at the moment, but as he looked at his sister, Trey could tell that she was affected by all that had happened. It wasn't going to be easy, but what the hell was left for them to do right now?

They had to live and find a way through the storm that had finally come knocking. It wasn't the best of things for them at the moment, but then it wasn't the worst either.

They still had hope, even if that hope was easily the most toxic of things that they had to deal with at the moment. What if they fought back? Would they end up like their brothers who were long dead by now?

"You don't know that, Amina. From the way you talked about her, she cares about you. Even if she doesn't, you still have me, sister. I will be here regardless of the outcome of all of this.

"And if there comes a time when we are separated, I can only hope it is because I gave my life to save yours," Trey said earnestly as he looked at Amina who was defeatedly staring at him.

She was desperate for something to hold onto and Trey understood her well.

He knew this wasn't what they had planned for and at the same time, he could tell that nothing was doing as they had planned in the beginning, which meant that their kind of hell would make things a tad bit scarier for all of them.

This wasn't the kind of battle that would end well for the Russel siblings and they both knew it, which was why it was even more heartbreaking to think of what could happen with them.

"I'm older than you," Amina said with a sad chuckle.

"I have trained to be a warrior for the longest time."

"I have seen more battlefields than you."

"I am stronger and faster. I have been training. Let me be of some use to you, Amina. Alert me at least be the shield of whatever is left of our family," Trey said.

He knew that this was going to be the easiest of things for Amina, and he couldn't blame her for what she had wanted, but damn it wasn't going to be easy.

He knew that too because when he could hear murmurs in the distances and he knew that it was just a matter of time before they came for them. So much had happened in their lives and Trey refused to believe that this was how their lives would end.

This wasn't what they would be forced into. It wasn't quite the best of things because regardless of what happened they would fight back. It was the only way for the both of them to keep going on with their broken hearts.

"We can't win against them, Trey. We are the evil that the entire realm has been trained to be rid of, and with Hawi, it is just a matter of time before they come and take us out. You still have a life to live.

"You have spent your entire life in training and you never had the time to embrace who you really are. You probably don't know what it means to have someone you care about that you would give everything up for.

"If there comes a choice between me and you, promise me you will choose to save your life. Promise me you won't give your life for me," Amina said and Trey stared at her in disbelief.

This wasn't what the pact of their family was meant to be whatever the fuck happened to them always and forever? For years they had been bound by the one promise that kept them sane and within the right boundaries.

The promise they had was their covenant and it kept them all together despite all that had happened. It was this same promise among the siblings that made it easier for the dead Russell siblings to give up their lives.

They would do it for their family without so much as a second doubt as they wouldn't even be bad for it. They and their family always found a way to make things better. Family always protected family, right?

Oh, but it was a sad moment for them.

"No. I won't make that promise. I won't leave you for the dead. If we go down, we go down together. I may not have been on the battlefields but I am just as much of a sinner as you are. Stay connected via My Virtual Library Empire

"We all did this, we made this happen and if we are to take the blame, then we do it, together. No one's life is more important than the other. So come along, sister. Let's get through this alright?" Trey insisted and Amina laughed slowly.

Her brother was brave as always and she couldn't have wished to be here with anyone else.

Sure, her other brothers were done, but then the fact that they all had a role to play in this mess, made her feel a little better because at the end of the day, perhaps they would find themselves on the other side of the afterlife, with their family.

Maybe then they would just be a normal set of warlock families without thousands and one enemy who wanted them gone, not to mention a broken girl who was of their making.

Maybe then they would have the time of their lives, right?

It couldn't be as hard, no?

"Hudhayfah is a good person. I am sure he will take care of you. He can protect you, and keep you safe from everything. He can even make a bargain for you and I truly hope he does make the bargain, because you deserve to be happy too.

"You shouldn't have to be forced to grow up fast and I hope Hudhayfah understands that before all goes to shit. I know he has been looking for you for the longest time, and he would be really glad to see you," Amina voiced.

They had already begun crawling on the dewy Sicario grass towards the northern borders, in the hope that they would be able to find a place that they could use to get out.

Of course, it was a dumb line of thought, seeing as the Sicario dome was the most impenetrable security system for this pack. But she had to hope, because, without hope, she had nothing.

Amina didn't know what she would do now that they had lost more than half their family in the hands of different facts. Hell, their siblings were taken out by the same group they had been unfortunately mated to.

Or were they fortunate to be mated to the cruel bunch?

"Mbali isn't bad either," Try said as if to tell his sister that there really was no getting out of this. They could pity each other but at the end of the day, they had to hold on and fight for whatever was left of them.

"Touche, little brother, touché. Let's get to the borders then."
