The Lost king

Chapter 53: CHAPTER TWENTY NINE: "Ashes of war"

INT. OJORA PALACE – THRONE ROOM – NIGHT

The great doors slam open. ADEOLA steps into the throne room, soaked in sweat, battle-worn but burning with purpose. Across the room, atop his blackened throne, KING ADEKUNLE OJORA rises—calm, composed, eyes gleaming with cold amusement.

ADEKUNLE

You made it, boy. Just like your father did… before he begged for mercy.

ADEOLA

I am my father's vengeance—and my mother's justice.

No more words.

SWORDS DRAW. THE DUEL BEGINS.

Each clash of steel echoes through the throne room, intercut with flashbacks:

A young Adeola, crying over his foster father's corpse.

Training under Chief Alade.

Wale falling to his death

Holding Bayo back after a rebel dies.

Hugging Yemi, the night before war.

Moremi whispering "come back to me."

For Adekunle, the strikes echo deeper. He sees his brother—the man he betrayed, stabbed for power—every time Adeola swings. And now, he sees his brother's fire in Adeola's eyes.

EXT. PALACE COURTYARD – SAME TIME

AYOMIDE slices through a guard with calm precision. His movements are smooth—efficient.

Nearby, FEMI and DAMILOLA fight back-to-back, a deadly rhythm between them. She parries a blow; he spins around her and cuts the attacker down.

Two archers on the balcony ready their bows—aiming straight at Damilola.

FEMI spots them.

Damilola—!

He dives, slicing both bowmen in one sweeping leap. Arrows clatter uselessly to the ground.

DAMILOLA (sincerely, breathing hard) …Thank you.

Her expression, for once, softens—no longer the usual stone mask. Femi notices, surprised but silent.

DAMILOLA

(still fighting)

You didn't tell anyone… did you?

FEMI (hesitates, gulps, avoids her eyes)

...We should push through the left flank. The guards are thicker on the right.

She nods, silently reading the truth in his eyes—but lets it go.

AYOMIDE, dispatching another guard nearby, glances at them—noticing the energy between them, but saying nothing. His blade rises again. More fall.

---

EXT. OUTER WALLS – BATTLEFIELD – SAME TIME

MORENIKE stands tall on a raised rock. Her arms lift, channeling ancient magic. Waves of shimmering energy ripple across the field, exploding into enemy ranks—twisting their formations.

YEMI and BAYO lead the rebel warriors through the opening she creates. They fight shoulder to shoulder, blades flashing in sync.

YEMI (panting) Didn't think I'd see the day.

BAYO (grinning) Chief Alade would've been proud.

(beat)

He always wanted this—you and me, together… fighting for something greater.

Yemi nods, heart heavy but steady. They fight harder—cutting through Ojora soldiers with brutal grace.

---

INT. THRONE ROOM – FINAL CLASH

Adeola and Adekunle are bleeding. Breathing ragged. Their armor cracked.

ADEKUNLE (snaps) You don't understand the burden of ruling. You think righteousness can hold an empire?

ADEOLA Maybe not.

But fear never lasts. And your time just ran out.

He lunges. They trade blows—a whirlwind of

fury and memory. Flames from nearby torches reflect in their eyes as past and present collide.
