Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Bring Him Back!
Shen Gong's words left everyone present bewildered, struggling to grasp the meaning behind them.
"Shen Gong, please treat the patient. If they don't want to see me, I'll take my leave," Qin Fei said, nodding to Shen Gong before turning to exit without a backward glance.
While the Su family members were confused by Shen Gong's words, they felt reassured by his presence, knowing he was renowned as a miraculous doctor.
"Shen Gong, please take a look," Su Zichang said, surrounding Shen Gong with an air of respect.
Shen Gong glanced at Qin Fei's departing figure and shook his head, then followed Su Zichang to sit beside the old master's bed.
"Shen Gong, is my father seriously ill?" Su Zichang couldn't help but ask in a hushed tone.
"Mr. Su, please be quiet; my master dislikes noise while treating patients," Shen Hongyi said expressionlessly.
Although Su Zichang felt frustrated, he dared not protest and nodded vigorously in agreement.
Shen Gong gripped the old master's wrist with one hand and placed the other on his chest.
The more he examined, the graver the old master's condition appeared. The once kind expression on Shen Gong's face now bore traces of anger.
"Outrageous!" Shen Gong suddenly stood up, glaring at the gathered crowd.
"Shen Gong, what's wrong?" Su Zichang asked, his voice tinged with panic.
Shen Gong huffed, "Your old master has had lung cancer for at least six months, and the cancer cells have spread across most of his lung surface. Did you call me here to embarrass me?"
"Lung cancer?" The words struck the crowd like thunder, causing some to gasp and even others to weep openly.
"My father can't have lung cancer! We didn't know!" Su Zichang exclaimed, his face a mask of terror. "Shen Gong, you're a miraculous doctor; please save my father! We'll pay whatever it takes!"
"Yes, Shen Gong, you can't just stand by and do nothing!" Others, filled with panic, even dropped to their knees.
Hearing the words "lung cancer," the old master's weak face flushed with color, and he suddenly coughed up large amounts of blood.
"Shen Gong, please think of a way," the old master pleaded, lifting his frail hand in desperation.
Clearly, he didn't want to die.
Shen Gong, accustomed to such scenes, sighed and said, "I'm afraid I'm powerless; this condition has always been a medical challenge. If only we had come half a month earlier, there might have been a chance."
Upon hearing this, the crowd slumped to the ground in despair.
"Shen Gong, is there really no other way?" Su Zichang trembled, his face pale with fear.
Shen Gong stood lost in thought for a while before slowly asking, "Has Qin Fei seen him?"
His reasoning was simple; if Qin Fei had examined the old master and found no solution, then it was time to prepare for the worst.
"Qin Fei? Shen Gong, at a time like this, please don't joke with us," Su Zichang said awkwardly.
"Yes, Qin Fei is just a useless person supported by our family. How could he possibly treat anyone?" Su Zhengzhen muttered under his breath.
Shen Gong was taken aback, narrowing his eyes at the people present, "Hasn't Qin Fei examined him?"
"Why would he? He's not a doctor!" Su Zhengzhen complained.
At that moment, Su Zichang's expression suddenly shifted. He recalled what Qin Fei had said before leaving: "Even if Shen Gong comes, he won't be able to save him, but I can give it a try."
"If anyone can save the old master, it must be Qin Fei. If he can't, then it's time to prepare for the end." With that, Shen Gong waved his hand, preparing to leave.
The crowd stood in stunned silence, slowly realizing why Old Master Li would extend a favor to Qin Fei.
For wealthy individuals, every additional day of life is considered a gain, which is why they hold those with exceptional medical skills in high regard.
"Oh no!" Su Zichang's face changed as he grasped Shen Gong's arm, his expression serious. "Shen Gong, are you serious about this?"
"Nonsense!" Shen Gong shook his sleeve angrily. "Do I look like I'm joking? I have patients to attend to, goodbye!"
With that, he turned and walked away.
The Su family members wore expressions of despair. Su Zichang turned to the old master, tentatively asking, "Dad, what do you think we should do?"
"What do you think?" The old master, furious, threw his pillow at Su Zichang. "Do you want to watch me die? Hurry up and bring him back!"
"Okay, I'll call him," Su Zichang said hurriedly.
"Forget calling! You go get him in person!" the old master yelled in anger, coughing violently as he lay on the bed.
After leaving the Su family, Qin Fei wandered aimlessly down the street, still holding the thousand-year-old ginseng.
The Su family's attitude had left him feeling disheartened; even someone with good temperaments like Qin Fei couldn't endure it.
"Ah," Qin Fei muttered, looking down at his body. "Since fate has brought me into this vessel, let me help restore some dignity."
Just then, he noticed a young girl suddenly collapse nearby, causing a nearby woman to shout, "Xiao Qi, what's wrong? Someone, please help!"
A crowd quickly gathered, but no one stepped forward to assist.
Instead, many were busy taking photos and videos, murmuring, "Someone call an ambulance! Ah, today's mothers are so clueless. This reminds me of the girl who fell into Longmen River a few days ago."
The woman frantically pulled out her phone, her hands shaking as she dialed.
"Auntie, there's no need to panic," Qin Fei said as he pushed through the crowd.
He crouched down, placing his hand on the girl's forehead, smiling as he said, "Auntie, your daughter just fainted from heat exhaustion; there's no need to worry excessively."
"Are you a doctor?" the woman clutched Qin Fei's arm, her eyes wide with hope.
Qin Fei wasn't sure how to respond, so he simply smiled, "I've studied a bit on my own."
"Does self-study qualify you to save someone?" someone scoffed.
"Young man, if you kill her while trying to treat her, you'll be in big trouble!"
Qin Fei paid no mind to the remarks. He looked up and said, "Could everyone please form a circle around her to block the sun?"
Although they were unwilling to help, they were amenable to such a minor request.
In no time, they formed a circle, shielding her from the sun's rays.
Qin Fei then placed two fingers on the girl's temples and began to gently massage.
"Young man, is my daughter really okay?" the woman asked anxiously.
Qin Fei smiled, "Auntie, after ten minutes of massage, I guarantee your daughter will be fine."
"I see him! He's over there!" At that moment, Su Zichang and Su Zhengzhen rushed over.
They parked their car nearby and hurriedly approached, calling out, "Qin Fei, come back with us; your grandfather's condition is urgent!"
Qin Fei glanced at them, his expression neutral as he said, "My grandfather? Mr. Su, don't joke with me. I'm just a useless person; he gets angry just seeing me. What if I aggravate his condition?"
Su Zichang realized Qin Fei was upset and could only press on, "It's all a misunderstanding. Regardless, we are family; can you bear to watch him suffer?"
"Mr. Su, you're overstating things. I can't afford to reach that high; please take your leave," Qin Fei firmly stated.
"Qin Fei, don't overstep your bounds!" Su Zhengzhen shouted angrily. "If you don't come back, I'll drag you back myself!"
"What? Are you going to hit me in broad daylight?" The onlookers immediately grew displeased.
"Exactly, try laying a hand on him! This is a society governed by law; do you really want us to report you to the police?"
"Shut it! You're here begging for help but with that attitude? If it were me, I wouldn't help!"
Unable to do anything, Su Zichang and Su Zhengzhen could only grit their teeth and walk away.
Upon returning home, Su Zhengzhen couldn't hold back his frustration, saying, "Grandpa, this guy has no respect! We invite him, and he refuses to come—he really thinks too highly of himself!"
Hearing this, the old master was seething with anger as he pointed at Su Zhengzhen, shouting, "Go and bring him back! Even if you have to kneel to plead, you must bring him back!"
