Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The Warmth of the Li Family

As Li Hang approached, Su Zhengzhen became increasingly excited. He raised his proud head, as if awaiting a divine blessing.

Su Zichang, not daring to lag behind, hurriedly followed in Li Hang's wake.

"Young Master Li, this table is filled with the younger generation of the Su family; you won't find Mr. Qin here," Su Zichang said eagerly from behind.

Li Hang ignored him, continuing forward with his entourage.

Seeing his father had caught up, Su Zhengzhen was even more convinced that Li Hang was here for him.

"Mr. Li, what brings you here in person?" Su Zhengzhen quickly rose and extended his hand as Li Hang approached.

Li Hang glanced at him, his brow furrowing slightly.

He hadn't intended to shake hands but extended his hand casually, considering Su Zichang was Qin Fei's relative.

"Wow, he's really come to find Zhengzhen!" The other young members of the family were instantly thrilled, with some girls even covering their mouths in excitement.

Feeling quite self-satisfied, Su Zhengzhen said, "Mr. Li, while our company collaborates with your family, you didn't need to come personally to celebrate—this is quite an honor!"

Li Hang frowned and replied, "Collaborate with us? And you are?"

At this, Su Zhengzhen was momentarily taken aback.

"I'm Su Zhengzhen from Zhengzhen Technology. I was just at your company a few days ago," he stammered.

"Sorry, I haven't heard of you," Li Hang shook his head.

Su Zhengzhen's face turned crimson, his hands trembling slightly.

The other young members of the family could hardly contain their laughter.

"If you're not here for me, then who are you looking for?" Su Zhengzhen couldn't help but ask.

Li Hang ignored him and walked over to Qin Fei, smiling as he extended his hand, "Mr. Qin, I heard it's your grandfather's birthday, so I brought a little gift. I hope it's not an inconvenience."

Qin Fei smiled and replied, "Not at all, Young Master Li; you're too kind."

Upon hearing this, the crowd's expression shifted dramatically.

Li Hang was here looking for Qin Fei? And from their interaction, it seemed they had a friendship!

"No, no, this is a request from my grandfather," Li Hang quickly added.

He waved his hand, and several gift boxes were placed on the table.

"This is a token of my appreciation; Mr. Qin, please accept it." Li Hang smiled warmly.

Qin Fei laughed awkwardly, "You should personally deliver it to Mr. Su."

"I have some matters to attend to and may not have time to stay longer, so I'll trouble you to pass it along," Li Hang was adept at socializing.

His presence at the Su family gathering was solely due to Qin Fei; he didn't even know Mr. Su.

"Then you take care, and I'll invite you over for dinner soon. My grandfather has been mentioning you," Li Hang said before placing the gifts down and taking his leave.

The table erupted in chatter, the younger generation stealing glances at Qin Fei.

"Wow, Qin Fei knows Li Hang! It looks like Li Hang respects him quite a bit!"

"Didn't you hear? It was Mr. Su who asked him to come; maybe Qin Fei and Mr. Su share a special connection!"

"I thought he was here to see Zhengzhen, but it turns out he doesn't even know him—how embarrassing!"

Hearing the discussions around him, Su Zhengzhen's face became even more sullen.

He simply couldn't fathom how Qin Fei, a useless person, managed to curry favor with such a powerful family.

"Little Fei, you and Young Master Li are quite familiar, huh?" Su Zichang, the old fox, approached with a shameless facade.

Qin Fei glanced at him, replying with a hint of sarcasm, "Not really familiar—just an acquaintance. A person like me, how could Young Master Li pay me any mind?"

Su Zichang's face flushed with embarrassment as he awkwardly responded, "What are you saying? Connections are an asset; having someone from the Li family in your corner makes any task much easier."

"Coincidentally, your brother is looking to collaborate with the Li family on a product. Could you help put in a good word?" Su Zichang said with a forced smile.

Qin Fei looked at Su Zhengzhen, inwardly sneering.

He held no fondness for Su Zhengzhen, who, despite being a family member, was just as disdainful as the outsiders.

"Let's skip it; I'm not capable of that. I'll handle my own affairs," Qin Fei replied bluntly. "Besides, with Zhengzhen's abilities, he doesn't need someone like me."

Su Zhengzhen's expression darkened, his face turning red as he retorted, "Qin Fei, what's with your arrogance? You think just because you've ingratiated yourself with the Li family that you're important? I'll tell you, even without you, I can still work with the Li family!"

"Oh? Then I'll wish you good luck in advance," Qin Fei said nonchalantly.

Seeing that Qin Fei wouldn't comply, Su Zichang immediately shifted his tone, barking from the sidelines, "We're family; you shouldn't act this way! If it weren't for the Su family supporting you all these years, you'd have been done for ages ago, ungrateful wretch!"

Qin Fei didn't bother to engage with such a person and ignored him completely.

Seeing that Qin Fei was unresponsive, Su Zichang left in a huff, grumbling to himself.

"Li Hang treats you quite well," Su Yu remarked with a hint of jealousy. "He even found out about my grandfather's birthday for you; he's really thoughtful."

Feigning ignorance, Qin Fei replied, "Indeed, this did catch me by surprise. It seems the Li family truly values gratitude and loyalty; they're worth befriending."

At this, Su Yu's pretty face darkened with a chill.

"The Li family has invited you several times; when are you planning to visit them?" Su Yu asked, her tone heavy.

Qin Fei chuckled, "He was just being polite; why take it so seriously? If I actually went, wouldn't they just kick me out?"

"As long as you know," Su Yu huffed.

Though she said this, she felt a twinge of uncertainty.

It seemed that from some point onward, every action of Qin Fei's affected her.

Perhaps it was because Li Shilan was more accomplished than she was.

The banquet continued for a long while, yet Mr. Su had yet to appear, which raised some eyebrows.

"Why hasn't Grandpa come out yet?" Su Zhengzhen muttered impatiently at the table. "What could possibly take so long?"

"Who knows? Perhaps something came up," someone replied.

Su Zhengzhen shot a glance at Qin Fei and joked, "I still haven't delivered my gift; right, Qin Fei?"

Qin Fei cast him a sidelong glance, ignoring him.

Just then, a middle-aged man emerged from Mr. Su's room.

This man was Mr. Su's personal servant; although just a servant, his long association with Mr. Su had inextricably elevated his status, gaining considerable respect within the Su family.

"Old Wang, why hasn't my father come out yet?" Su Zichang asked impatiently.

Old Wang nodded slightly and replied, "Mr. Su has been feeling unwell these past few days, and his condition suddenly worsened today. We're currently contacting a doctor."

As soon as he finished speaking, a middle-aged man in a white coat rushed in, carrying a medical kit, making his way through the crowd to Old Wang.

"How is the situation?" he asked Old Wang.

Old Wang frowned and replied, "Not good, Dr. Qi; please go check on him immediately."

Dr. Qi nodded, not daring to waste time, and hurried into the room.

"What's wrong with my father? What illness does he have? Why weren't we informed?"

"What happened to my grandfather? Is it serious? Let us in to see!"

People began shouting, many crowding around the door to rush in, but Old Wang held them back one by one.

"Dr. Qi is diagnosing the old master; we need to maintain silence. Please be patient and wait for news," Old Wang instructed before returning to the room and closing the door behind him.

The crowd gathered at the door began to discuss anxiously, straining to see inside.

Half an hour later, the door opened.

Dr. Qi emerged, his brow furrowed, saying, "I'm sorry; I fear I am powerless to help Mr. Su. Please seek assistance from elsewhere."

With that, Dr. Qi hurriedly left the scene.

Su Zichang, Su Ziping, and others were immediately alarmed, disregarding Old Wang's attempts to stop them as they rushed inside.

"Everyone, don't panic. If Western medicine can't help, we still have traditional Chinese medicine. I've contacted Shen Gong from Baicaotang; he'll be here shortly!" Old Wang shouted anxiously.
