Chapter 17: Chapter 17: No One Can Help!
Although Hao Chunming was just the head of the office in Jiangcheng, he wielded significant power in the city.
As Hao Chunming's chief secretary, Hu Dong was like a trusted confidant; his words could easily change the fate of the Su family.
Zhao Ya's face turned awkward as she said, "Secretary Hu, what do you suggest regarding my dealings with Director Li?"
Hu Dong sneered, "I'm here to mediate your relationship. Regarding the market in Jiangcheng, I hope Director Zhao can offer some concessions."
His words were quite blunt, and Zhao Ya understood that Hu Dong was clearly siding with Director Li.
Embarrassed, Zhao Ya replied, "You know our company is currently expanding its import and export trade, and Jiangcheng is the foundation of our business. If…"
"Import and export? Do you have the transit trade license?" Hu Dong interrupted her harshly.
"It hasn't been processed yet; we've prepared all the necessary paperwork," Zhao Ya hurriedly explained.
Hu Dong coldly laughed upon hearing this. "Then it's just perfect. If this matter isn't handled properly today, you can forget about your license."
Hearing this, Zhao Ya's face turned extremely ugly.
She gritted her teeth and said, "I need to use the restroom for a moment, excuse me."
"Humph, if you can find someone, do it quickly. Otherwise, just comply," Hu Dong sneered.
He knew full well that Zhao Ya had no one else to turn to in Jiangcheng.
"Qin Fei, I heard from Captain Zhang that you can read faces. Could you take a look at me?" Hao Chunming said with a hint of jest.
Qin Fei smiled and glanced at Hao Chunming, then said, "Your complexion is rosy, your official palace is clear and flawless, and your parental palace is bright. Your recent fortune should be good, especially in your career, where you will see significant progress."
Upon hearing this, Hao Chunming laughed heartily. "What you said is correct, but those words aren't just common flattery, are they?"
After all, most fortune tellers would start with a flurry of compliments, leaving one to wonder if any of it was true.
Qin Fei didn't mind. He continued, "If I'm not mistaken, you should not have children yet, right?"
Hao Chunming's brows furrowed at that. "Yes, that's true. My wife has been unable to conceive for years, and we've had her checked at the hospital; all the indicators are normal."
Qin Fei said, "I will be frank; I hope you won't take offense."
"Please, go ahead," Hao Chunming replied with a serious tone.
Qin Fei slowly explained, "Your childbearing palace is dim and has dark spots, indicating infertility. Additionally, your earlobes are thin as a cicada's wings and appear grayish-black, which suggests kidney deficiency."
"In other words, the issue lies not with your wife but with you."
Hao Chunming's face turned red with embarrassment upon hearing this.
Captain Zhang, standing nearby, couldn't help but cough, trying to ease the tension. "Qin Fei, don't joke around. He's healthy!"
"No," Hao Chunming said seriously. "Mr. Qin, you're right. I secretly had tests done at the hospital, and the doctor said my sperm production isn't adequate. Out of pride, I've never admitted it, so no one knows."
He then asked earnestly, "Mr. Qin, do you have any solutions?"
"That's simple," Qin Fei smiled. "Do you have paper and a pen? I'll write you a prescription. If you follow it, you'll see improvement in a week."
Hao Chunming's eyes lit up at this. He immediately called to a waiter, "Bring me paper and a pen!"
After receiving the paper and pen, Qin Fei wrote down the prescription: cooked Chinese angelica, Chinese wild jujube, Chinese yam, schizandra berries, horny goat weed, and several other herbs, all to be boiled and taken before bed each night.
After finishing, Qin Fei handed the prescription to Hao Chunming.
"To be frank, although your childbearing palace appears dim, it has a dark red hue, indicating that you will certainly have a child this year. You can come back to see me in a week," Qin Fei said.
Upon hearing this, Hao Chunming was moved to tears. He grabbed Qin Fei's arm and said, "Mr. Qin, if my wife becomes pregnant, I will certainly thank you properly!"
"Haha, just don't forget to take us out for a meal then!" Captain Zhang chimed in, happy that Qin Fei brought him some face as well.
"Don't worry; whenever Mr. Qin speaks, we'll go wherever he wants!" Hao Chunming said excitedly.
At that moment, Qin Fei noticed Zhao Ya's figure in the distance. She came out of a private room, looking upset, and headed straight for the restroom.
"Why is she here too?" Qin Fei frowned slightly and then stood up. "Excuse me; I'll be right back."
"Sure, we'll wait for you here," Hao Chunming said quickly.
After entering the restroom, Qin Fei overheard Zhao Ya talking on the phone with Su Ziping.
"You useless piece of trash! They're bullying your wife, and you can't even say a word? Are you even a man?" Qin Fei heard Zhao Ya's voice as soon as he entered.
Su Ziping sounded embarrassed as he replied, "Hu Dong is Hao Chunming's secretary, and Hao Chunming is the head of the business department in Jiangcheng. I'm just a low-level employee; I can't say much. If needed, just agree with him."
Zhao Ya was even more infuriated upon hearing this. "How could I have married such a useless person! Don't you know that Li is a ruthless businessman? If I agree to him today, our company will be finished tomorrow!"
Zhao Ya was seething, feeling that the company she had built over the years was at stake. Letting it go would be more painful than death.
"Well, I can't do anything," Su Ziping said weakly.
"You're useless! I'll just confront him!" Zhao Ya cursed angrily, then hung up the phone.
Qin Fei listened carefully from outside the restroom; it was clear that Zhao Ya was in trouble.
"Qin Fei? What are you doing here?" Zhao Ya asked, seeing Qin Fei washing his hands as she exited the restroom.
"Uh, I'm meeting a friend here," Qin Fei replied, making up an excuse. "Mom, why are you here?"
Zhao Ya didn't answer Qin Fei's question and instead unloaded her anger onto him.
She pointed at Qin Fei and scolded, "Meeting friends? What friends do you have? All you do is eat and drink at home. You didn't even make breakfast this morning! Because of you, I'm now in trouble, you know?!"
Qin Fei muttered, "What does that have to do with me? It's not like they're deliberately causing you trouble."
"Don't you dare talk back!" Zhao Ya snapped, her fury evident. She pointed at Qin Fei and declared, "You wait! I'll deal with you when we get home!"
With that, she turned and stormed out of the restroom.
Qin Fei sighed and followed her out.
While his mother-in-law could be difficult, she was still family, and he couldn't just ignore her troubles.
So, he followed Zhao Ya to the door of the private room.
"What are you following me for?" Zhao Ya snapped when she saw Qin Fei behind her.
Qin Fei replied, "Didn't you say I'm the reason you're in trouble? I need to help you explain!"
"Explain what?!" Zhao Ya was so furious she almost laughed.
This useless son-in-law actually thought he could help.
"Alright, alright. Maybe I can solve it," Qin Fei said awkwardly.
"Get away from me! What can you possibly solve? Don't come and make things worse!" Zhao Ya retorted.
At that moment, Hu Dong and Director Li emerged from the private room.
"What's all this shouting about?" Hu Dong asked, frowning.
Zhao Ya shot him a glance and replied angrily, "Hu Dong, I won't agree! Our paperwork is complete, everything is legal, and according to the law, you have no reason to deny me a permit!"
Hu Dong sneered, "Zhao Ya, are you out of your mind? How dare you speak to me like that?"
"Mom's right; you don't have the authority to deny the permit," Qin Fei chimed in from the side.
Hu Dong glanced at Qin Fei, then smirked. "Oh, so this is your useless son-in-law? Fine, let me tell you something: In Jiangcheng, I am the law! If I say no permit, then there will be no permit! No one can change that!"
