The Lone Dragon of China.

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Su Ziping's Old Classmate

Qin Fei awkwardly took the phone and muttered, "What were you chatting about?"

When he opened it, he saw that Li Shilan had given him a warm invitation, asking him to dinner and even offering him a job at the Li family's company.

"That's what you talked about, not me," Qin Fei said innocently. "Besides, it's pretty normal for her to chat like this."

"So, are you going or not?" Su Yu countered.

She appeared calm, but inwardly, she was burning with anger.

Qin Fei knew that if he agreed to Li Shilan's invitation, Su Yu would be furious with him.

"Then I won't go?" Qin Fei tentatively asked.

Su Yu scoffed and turned to head back into her room.

Qin Fei sighed as he sat on the sofa. Su Yu was indeed domineering; she wouldn't let him associate with other women, making life feel incredibly stifling.

As he sat there, he glanced over the chat history, realizing that apart from his conversations with Su Yu, there was nothing else.

Qin Fei couldn't help but smile bitterly; it seemed that the owner of this body had no friends at all.

"No wonder his spirit is so weak; it looks like he's completely lost hope in life," Qin Fei sighed.

At that moment, Su Yu suddenly came out of her room.

She pointed to the door and said, "Come in."

"Hmm?" Qin Fei was surprised. "Are you talking to me?"

"Fine, don't come if you don't want to," Su Yu said, turning to close the door.

"Hey, hey, hey, who said I wasn't coming?" Qin Fei quickly stood up and rushed inside.

The room was filled with a musky scent, and a delicate incense burner was placed on the bedside table.

This made Qin Fei frown. In traditional Chinese medicine, musk could cause miscarriage or infertility.

"Why are you burning musk?" Qin Fei furrowed his brow and asked.

Su Yu replied, "I've always had a bit of a habit of burning musk. What's wrong? Didn't you know?"

"Uh, I forgot," Qin Fei scratched his head.

"Forgot?" Su Yu's expression turned cold as she stepped toward him, pushing him against the bed.

"Tell me, who exactly are you?" Su Yu was now less than five centimeters from Qin Fei, her fragrance intoxicating.

Qin Fei wasn't surprised; with so many unusual behaviors, anyone who wasn't foolish would start to suspect.

"I'm Qin Fei," he said while scratching his head.

"Qin Fei?" Su Yu's brows furrowed. "Qin Fei is a useless freeloader who has been weak since childhood. He can only wash clothes and cook; he can't do anything else!"

Qin Fei nodded and said, "I know my own body well. But that day, I accidentally went out and witnessed the fall of a blue dragon. Since then, I've felt significantly stronger, as if I suddenly opened my mind."

"I don't know why," Qin Fei feigned some annoyance.

Su Yu didn't respond. Her beautiful eyes were fixed on Qin Fei as if trying to see through him.

But Qin Fei's sincere gaze made it difficult for Su Yu to doubt him.

Moreover, the person sitting here, regardless of physique or appearance, was indeed Qin Fei.

"Alright, you can go now," Su Yu said, standing up and opening the door.

Qin Fei chuckled awkwardly. "How about I stay here tonight?"

"Get out," Su Yu said coldly.

Qin Fei shrugged, standing up and walking out.

Back in his room, Qin Fei lay on the bed, toying with the jade pendant that Director Song had given him.

The pendant was finely crafted, pure and flawless, with a bright, uniform green color. It was a top-quality jade from an old mine, worth an immeasurable amount.

He thought for a moment, then extended a finger to lightly touch the jade, imbuing it with a blessing, thinking he could gift it when the opportunity arose.

The next day, after waking up, Qin Fei saw Zhao Ya and Su Ziping preparing and dressing up.

Zhao Ya was adorned in gold and silver, looking dignified and noble.

Su Ziping was in a suit, looking quite impressive.

"Dad, Mom, where are you going?" Just as Qin Fei was about to ask, Su Yu emerged from her room.

Zhao Ya quickly said, "Your dad is going to meet a friend for lunch. If you're free, you can come along and help your dad drive."

"I'm not going; I have things to do at the clinic today. Let Qin Fei go with you," Su Yu said while pouring water.

"No, no, no. That's not happening," Zhao Ya quickly waved her hand. "He can't go!"

"What's wrong?" Su Yu furrowed her brow.

Zhao Ya shot a glare at Qin Fei, then quickly ran to Su Yu's side, saying, "Your dad's friend is a jeweler. They've been competing since school. If we bring Qin Fei, wouldn't that embarrass your dad?"

After saying this, Zhao Ya glared at Qin Fei again.

Su Ziping added, "I heard his son works in the transportation department with a decent position. If Qin Fei goes, will your dad still have any face left?"

"Fine, you can go by yourselves," Su Yu muttered. "I really don't have time today."

With that, she rushed to the bathroom to wash up, ignoring Su Ziping and Zhao Ya.

With no other choice, Su Ziping and Zhao Ya reluctantly allowed Qin Fei to accompany them.

On the way to the restaurant, Su Ziping repeatedly instructed, "Just keep quiet, understand? If he asks what you do, just say you're starting a business, got it?"

"I got it," Qin Fei replied with a smile.

When they reached the restaurant entrance, they saw a middle-aged man of similar age to Su Ziping standing there, accompanied by a glamorous woman adorned in jewelry.

"Look at her demeanor," Zhao Ya couldn't help but scoff before they even got out of the car.

After the car stopped, the middle-aged man eagerly walked over and shook hands with Su Ziping.

"Lao Yu, it's been a while! I heard you've been doing well lately?" Su Ziping spoke with a smile.

Lao Yu smiled back, "Oh, doing well? I only made thirty million last year! Still have to grease palms every day. Just yesterday, I finished a meal with Director Hao from the Ministry of Commerce."

Upon hearing this, Su Ziping couldn't help but curse inwardly.

Director Hao was Su Ziping's superior, and this clearly meant he was trying to one-up him.

"Ah, who isn't? A few days ago, I just had dinner with Old Li from the Li family in Jiangcheng, and it was a real hassle!" Su Ziping said, trying to hold his ground.

Lao Yu snorted, clearly skeptical.

"This is your daughter's husband, right?" Lao Yu said, turning his attention to Qin Fei.

"Hello, Uncle Yu," Qin Fei greeted politely.

Lao Yu chuckled, "What does he do? I've never heard of him before."

"He's just starting a business," Su Ziping quickly chimed in, trying to save face.

Lao Yu laughed heartily, "Oh, starting a business? That's a common excuse for unemployed people these days."

Su Ziping's face turned red, feeling embarrassed.

"Compared to my son-in-law, this guy is a lot better," Lao Yu said with a hint of pride. "He's a full-time employee at the transportation bureau and is competing for the deputy director position."

"Hmm," Han Wei replied, slightly bowing. "This time, I'm determined to win the position."

Qin Fei felt he had nothing to contribute and focused on his meal instead.

"Dad, I just received a piece of emerald from a friend, and I intended to give it to you yesterday, but you were already asleep when I got home," Han Wei said, pulling out a gift box.

Lao Yu exclaimed, "Oh, what are you doing? You know I've got plenty of jewelry; I don't need this!"

Han Wei smiled, "This was given to me by my subordinates, saying it's good for the elderly's health. I have no idea if it's valuable."

Lao Yu took it and examined it closely, pretending to be astonished. "This is natural emerald! Son-in-law, you've shown great filial piety!"

Su Ziping sat there, his head down, fearing embarrassment.

But some things couldn't be avoided; the more one feared them, the more they would come.

"Lao Su, don't be too envious. Some things we can't seek; it's all about fate," Lao Yu said smugly.

Su Ziping remained silent, shoveling food into his mouth.

"Dad, I just got a piece of jadeite from a friend yesterday. I wanted to give it to you, but I didn't have a chance," Qin Fei suddenly recalled the jade pendant.

He handed it to Su Ziping, but Su Ziping's expression was far from pleasant.

In his eyes, Qin Fei had nothing of value, so how could he possibly present a decent piece of jade?

"Hmm." Su Ziping took the pendant expressionlessly and tossed it aside.

"Ha, I'm in the jewelry business, so I have some knowledge in this area. Why don't I take a look at what kind of jade it is?" Lao Yu said with a hint of mockery.

Su Ziping wanted to hide the jade pendant, but Lao Yu was quicker and snatched it from him.
