Chapter 455: We Just Got A Letter!
"Would you care for a beverage?" I asked the Starforged as I poured myself one. "No Archon, I am not in the habit of poisoning my body with substances, thank you for the hospitality however."
I nodded my head in understanding. "Very well. So tell me Rekosh was it? Why are you- Wait? Your name is Rekosh?" I asked, causing the star forged to affirm. "Yes, that is my name, why does this cause you curiosity?"
Doing what I do best and getting side tracked, I explained. "Well, there is this Sepiida that I know who said her great-grandma was the wife of a retired Rekosh, so I was wondering if your name is common or if you have a title or something?"
Rekosh frowned at the mention of Sepiidans, there weren't many species the coalition was intolerant of, but the swarm, the Drakoshi and the Sepiida were the big three. "My Original name was not Rekosh, it is a name given to those that have the honour of being guard to the great Seer of the coalition. The Rekosh you heard about most likely suffered an injury too great to continue service or simply retired by being too old."
I nodded my head along in understanding before thanking the Starforged for clarifying that for me. I then got back on track and asked him a question that was begging to be asked. "So, Rekosh, Tell me. Why are you here? Considering our respective factions are at war and the fact almost all of Spartari hate anything that looks even vaguely different, you took a great risk in coming to meet a person you only met in passing once. I assume your reasoning is a good one?"
Rekosh scratched his chin with his sharp claws as he peered at the Archon in front of him. It was strange, the Archon didn't look all that powerful and yet, he was the one that finished off the beast that almost killed his master. Rekosh had millions of thoughts about this human before him, but in the end, they didn't matter. He was only here for one reason, because the Seer trusted him.
Reaching behind his back, he pulled out of his pack, a sealed scroll before explaining. "My Seer had ordered me to deliver you a letter that she has personally written herself. You should be honoured beyond belief Archon."
He then placed the scroll on the table between us causing me to look down at it curiously. "So you risked death just to play courier? You must have some massive balls of loyalty, Rekosh, I can respect that." I said and picked up the scroll.
The scroll had one of those wax seals you would see in ancient times, which made me chuckle as from my soul's point of view, I was in the 'future.' Breaking the wax seal, I proceeded to unravel the scroll and read it.
...
"Esteemed Archon,
My name is Aeletha. I hold the title of Seer among the Coalition of Spacefaring Races. I am a very ancient being and have seen many things in my life so I do not get surprised often. However, when you arrived before me on bastion, you, an Archon of a hostile species, came to the aid of my people against the hunger. Your actions that day have moved me and every other individual who has witnessed the video of your victory over the colossal entity that put me in the state you might remember me being in?
I digress. I write this letter not as a thank you, but as an invitation to meet me with in person on my home planet, so I might thank you in person and meet the brave human who saved billions of lives with such a noble gesture.
I believe we both have similar interests in this galaxy and I believe our meeting on bastion, where you returned my amulet to me, was just a small step in a long winding road we are going to take together, my Archon.
Please inform the individual who gave you this letter that you are willing to visit and I look forward to meeting the hero of bastion myself very soon.
Warmest Regards,
Aeletha."
…
After reading the letter, a frown enveloped my entire being, causing me to look up at Rekosh with an intense gaze. "What is this video Aeletha speaks of?" My tone was cold, emotionless, causing confusion in Rekosh, he didn't fully understand human mannerisms and inflections yet, he could only speak and understand the Spartari dialect and that was about it. nuances were not yet something he could grasp in regards to the alien species.
"Oh? You are not aware of the video that showed you defeating the Giant creature? Here, let me show you." Rekosh pulled out a small device from his pack before placing it on the table, he then began scrolling through a series of alien runes and symbols before seemingly finding what he was looking for.
...
I watched the entire video with bated breath, It turns out I was one lucky mother fucker as the video cut out literally seconds before Fianna begged me to stop bonking her with the stick.
"How many people have seen this?" I asked, causing Rekosh to reply with the gut-wrenching number. "Billions at the least. Possibly trillions. The war was live broadcasted to show the threat the hunger actually posed to the galaxy, My Seer foresaw the hunger arriving at Bastion and did her best to beat them there, even mantling an ancient power to ascend for a short while, but that... Creature was unlike anything we have ever encountered. Honestly, I do not understand how you managed to defeat it in such a short amount of time? Was it severely weakened after its thorax was destroyed? Was my Seer closer to beating it than she thought?"
Rekosh then noticed my gazing at him and licked the side of his maw. "Apologies, it is not my position to ask those questions. Now, should we depart back for Tellorix? My Seer told me to make sure to take into account your feelings on the matter."
I didn't respond right away, I was a little occupied in the mental capacity. 'Trillions? Trillions have witnessed me punishing my partner for sending me out into space and have misunderstood it as me defeating a legendary creature? Fuck me, I can't tell if I am super lucky or unlucky at this point as it tends to flip flop back and forward... huh... Maybe I just have Psionic luck or some dumb bullshit like that? Making me both super lucky and unlucky? Honestly, I hope it's that, as otherwise I can't comprehend just the amount of shit I get into.
Balanced Karma= Shit child endangerment boon that turned out to have a secret broken loophole? Random body= end up having an Origin that Psychokinesis that borderlines Omni kinesis? Proceed to develop abilities that suit my purposes as I need them. Get power to summon chonk. Constantly get stopped at military checkpoints, get shot out of the sky, get recorded doing shenanigans, but only parts that make me look heroic?
Something funky was up and I really hated being in the dark.
"Archon Apollo?" I suddenly heard, causing me to flinch as I looked up at Rekosh. "Ah, sorry, I just didn't know I was being recorded. I was sent to the planet as training after all by my teacher, I didn't mean to become a 'hero' or anything. Knowing so many individuals know what I did has winded me a little."
Rekosh was a little surprised to hear about heading to a world full of enemies for 'training', but allowed the Archon to continue.
"In regards to this letter. I would be delighted to meet this Aeletha person. It's not everyday you get to meet a god face to face is it? However, I am going to the Spartari Psionics college on Ecumenopolis 7's moon in a few weeks and I have plans between now and then, so I am thinking that maybe I will try and pop over in five or six months? I will probably have to pop home for my birthday around then, I can use that time I take off to come visit the Coalition, what do you think?"
Rekosh was only half listening as he stood up. "Great, well, gather anything you need, we shall set off at... Wait, what did you say?" Rekosh looked at the human before him like he was deranged.
"Did you deny my Seer's invitation?" He asked shocked, no one goes against the Seers wishes, was this Archon insane? "What? Dude no? Were you even paying attention? I said I would, just not now. It's an invitation to come and see her, not see her right this moment, look, read the thing yourself."
Rekosh then read the letter and frowned. "I see... Well, I shall inform the Seer of your decision, here take this. When you choose to enter Coalition space in the future, call the communicator saved on this one, best you are invited in instead of crossing boundaries illegally. All the best, Archon Apollo."
With that said, Rekosh looked at me steely, bowed his head respectfully and then left the room.
