Chapter 41: First murder (41)
The ninja life was not all it was propped up to be.
"How many times do we have to catch this damn cat?" Nawaki sounded quite annoyed at the situation. Over the past few weeks, they had only been doing D-rank missions—nothing really that big.
Just a bunch of D-rank missions.
Tsunade, meanwhile, sat nearby eating some dango.
"Well, deal with it. Everyone has to go through D-rank missions. Don't worry, after this you guys are cleaning the sewers."
Seijuro, upon hearing this, simply did a singular handseal.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu."
Creating six clones of himself.
Nawaki looked at his friend, and it seemed to dawn on him.
He too did the Shadow Clone Jutsu, making like sixty clones... yes, the difference between Nawaki and Seijuro's reserves was that vast.
Time skip.
"Sorry... we have run out of D-rank missions," the woman at the desk said, looking at their squad.
"No more D-ranks? Does that mean we can finally do a C-rank mission?" Nawaki seemed pumped—excited, even.
Tsunade didn't seem like she thought he was not ready. She was about to request some D-ranks, but then she looked at the shadow clones outside.
Hm.
"You are not ready for a C-rank mission," she said calmly.
"Sensei while yes, Nawaki may not be ready, wouldn't it be...unjust of you to hold us back for 1 person" Seijuro said calmly, looking at his sensei.
"Heyyyy!"
The strong blonde woman looked at him...
Hm.
Hm, maybe if the mission was close to the village.
Mission Brief: "Purge the Rot"
A mid-sized bandit group had taken up residence in the hills on the outskirts of the Land of Fire, hitting trade caravans. Estimated numbers: twenty or so. No chakra users. Weapons-grade dangerous? Definitely.
Tsunade: "Your job is to eliminate them. Not capture. Not talk. Eliminate."
Seijuro: "Noted."
Mikoto tightened her gloves, her Sharingan blinking to life for a moment in anticipation. She'd been waiting for a real fight too.
When they got to the top of the mountain, looking down at the bandit camp, Seijuro said:
"Mikoto, can you please use your Sharingan to map out where they all are?"
As he said those words, he made a shadow clone, which henged into a bird—a bird native to this area of the Land of Fire, which, considering the season, was also in season.
This fact was something Tsunade did notice. He had the clone fly around the base, up until it was satisfied with what it saw.
When Seijuro was done mapping out the area, Mikoto would add where she saw the guards. Seijuro nodded his head—well, he had a plan for this.
"Let's try not to make too much noise... that includes you, Nawaki."
"Hey, I'm not that loud."
...
No one believed that lie. Not even himself.
Anyway, the plan was simple: to slowly eliminate the bandits. One by one.
And thus, they got ready.
Getting closer to the camp, Seijuro waited for the signal, as a guy came out ready to take the meanest piss ever.
"Ah yeah, nothing feels better than taking a piss after doing a woman," the man said with a perverted look on his face.
"Shit, I bet the next town's got some even better women. Maybe I get to go first. Going last sucks ass—by the time it was my turn, shit probably lost all of its tightness."
Seijuro didn't know what to feel right now. This guy seemed disgusting.
Well, he didn't wait much longer.
Making a small illusion, the man turned to his left, while Seijuro jumped from the tree, placing his hand on the man's mouth—and before he could react, Seijuro sliced the man's throat.
The guy didn't even get the chance to scream. He died silently.
Seijuro proceeded to store the man's body in a scroll before taking the man's appearance. He entered the base, making sure to keep that disgusting aura of a rapist around him.
Kyoka Suigetsu was working wonders.
"Boss, look what I found," he said, showing Kyoka Suigetsu to his boss.
"The fuck is this shit?" the man said.
"I was taking a piss and I saw it on the floor. It's got some shit on it that said... shatter Kyoka Suigetsu."
The sound of glass shattering could be heard... from that point forward, the fate of the bandits was decided. Since they were all looking at the blade, they were all under its illusion—and when he had said those words, they were now under it.
And since Seijuro controlled their senses, none of them noticed that their throats were being slit or that they were dying.
The bandit camp was annihilated in less than five minutes.
Every single one of them was dead.
Tsunade appeared next to them. Well, they had killed for the first time. She wondered how they felt.
Nawaki was shaking.
Mikoto's kunai hand was shaking. Her Sharingan was still there... spinning.
As for Seijuro...
...he was puking up his dinner... his hand seemed to be shaking a bit.
Seijuro was shaking a bit. He had just killed someone. He thought he was ready for this, but now he was shaking.
Was his resolve really that weak?
No.
He needed—he had to achieve more. He couldn't just give up after that.
