Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Fat Sheep Falls Into the Trap
Chapter 10: The Fat Sheep Falls Into the Trap
If she had known this technique in the past, she could have saved so many lives.
But now, to her, it was simply a unique type of medical ninjutsu.
Tsunade took a deep breath to calm herself, then asked curiously, "Some of the herbs mentioned in the notes—I've never even heard of them. Were they specially cultivated?"
Though her hemophobia kept her from practicing medical ninjutsu anymore, and she refused to treat anyone, she still couldn't help but feel intrigued by newly discovered healing techniques.
Fang Yi smiled and explained, "Those herbs are native to other worlds, as are the notes themselves. But similar substitutes can likely be found in the ninja world. The effectiveness might be slightly reduced, though."
"I see. So you're from another world too?"
Tsunade nodded in realization.
But Shizune, standing beside her, widened her eyes in shock. "W-Wait, Lady Tsunade, he said 'another world'! How are you so calm?"
Shinobi were familiar with the concept of other worlds—like the realms of summoning beasts, the Underworld where spirits rested, and the occasional space-time rifts encountered during advanced jutsu.
Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, after all, had been able to freely travel across countless alternate dimensions.
While most alternate worlds were lifeless and hostile, someone claiming to be from another world wasn't exactly unheard of—just unusual.
Fang Yi nodded. "That's right. I'm a merchant from another dimension. The Reincarnation Jar is one of my trial products. From the looks of it, the feedback's been pretty good."
"A trial product? Does that mean you have other merchandise too?"
Tsunade asked offhandedly, not particularly interested. She only asked because the fleshcraft notes had piqued her curiosity.
After losing her younger brother Nawaki and the man she loved, Dan Katō, she developed hemophobia, withdrew from the ninja world, and lost interest in most things.
"The Reincarnation Game."
Fang Yi held out his hand in front of Tsunade. A pitch-black invitation letter appeared in his palm.
No explanation was needed.
The moment Tsunade's fingertip touched the invitation, all the information about the Reincarnation Game flooded into her mind.
She froze at first, then her expression turned to disbelief.
"No way… Creatures from another world, and you can exchange the rewards from hunting them for anything you want?"
"That's right. Anything."
Fang Yi answered calmly, then added, "Just like the werewolf notes you saw. Anything, including items from the ninja world, can be exchanged with enough reward points."
Suddenly, an overwhelming aura burst from Tsunade.
Powerful chakra surged, stirring the air around her like a fierce storm.
Her gaze sharpened. "Even… resurrecting the dead?"
"Yes."
Fang Yi's expression remained composed as he faced her overwhelming pressure. Not even a corner of his clothes fluttered.
Still polite, he said, "If I may be blunt, in some worlds, reviving the dead is relatively easy. Even in the shinobi world, there are quite a few techniques that can bring back the dead. It's not all that shocking."
"There are resurrection techniques in this world?"
Tsunade's flare of chakra was a test of Fang Yi's strength. But seeing how unaffected he was, her wariness deepened.
Fang Yi waved his hand, and the interface for the game's shop appeared in front of them.
"Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique—a jutsu usable only by those with the Rinnegan. It can resurrect multiple people, restoring them to their living state. Price: 20,000 reward points. Requires Rinnegan to exchange."
"Dragon Life Rebirth Technique—a jutsu that allows the caster to revive a dead person by transferring their own life force. Price: 8,000 reward points."
"Living Sacrifice Reincarnation Technique—a secret forbidden technique developed by the Hidden Sand Village. Revives the dead at the cost of the caster's life. Price: 8,000 reward points."
One by one, black text floated across the screen.
Tsunade's breathing quickened. Her chest heaved with emotion as she tried to judge the authenticity of the claims.
The first two techniques… she vaguely remembered Jiraiya drunkenly mentioning them once. A wandering boy from the Land of Rain who possessed Sage Eyes. She'd never heard of the Dragon Life Rebirth Technique, though.
"Can you tell me who developed the Sand Village technique?"
"Chiyo."
Hearing the familiar name, Tsunade couldn't help but believe it.
During the Great Shinobi War, that damn old woman had been a poison master and also skilled in medical arts—truly a difficult opponent. Even Tsunade couldn't claim to have had a clear upper hand against her.
If it were her, researching a resurrection technique that transferred life force was entirely plausible.
Tsunade withdrew her chakra, returning to her usual composed demeanor.
She asked, "Is this invitation also a product for sale?"
The rational part of her knew this man was more likely a liar.
But she couldn't help wanting to believe. Like a drowning woman clutching at a straw, even a false hope that numbed the soul was still hope.
"It's a trial item, just like the Reincarnation Jar. Free to use."
Fang Yi's expression turned odd as he glanced over Tsunade.
If he charged for it, this gambling queen—who couldn't even afford a hotel—would probably just ask for credit. Better not to waste time. Just give it to her.
All the major powers in the ninja world had reached a silent agreement to keep the Reincarnation Game under wraps.
In this environment, trying to sell the invitations was a waste of time.
It had been hard enough just persuading Tsunade. Convincing the general population would be nearly impossible.
Fang Yi thought, Once the news can no longer be hidden and the game is exposed, these invitations will sell for a fortune.
Want to get in for free?
Not gonna happen. Even giving Tsunade this free invite, he could easily earn the reward points back in just a few days.
Tsunade opened the envelope and asked, "I just sign my name?"
"That's right."
She pulled out the ballpoint pen she used to sign her IOUs and casually wrote her name.
Immediately, a voice echoed in her head:
[Would you like to log in to the Reincarnation Game?]
In that instant—
The vibrant, powerful Tsunade's eyes lost focus and her body pitched forward.
Fang Yi, quick as ever, caught her in his arms. As she collapsed into him, all he could feel was an overwhelming softness—like the crashing waves of a vast ocean.
A faint, mature fragrance drifted to his nose.
"Lady Tsunade!"
Shizune, caught off guard, instinctively drew a kunai and glared at Fang Yi with suspicion.
"Don't worry," Fang Yi said, gesturing that he meant no harm. He gently handed Tsunade over. "She'll wake up as soon as she logs out of the game."
...
Novice Village.
Tsunade looked down in astonishment at her body. It was brand new, without any chakra.
No chakra meant no Strength of a Hundred Seal… but her body was youthful, healthy, and in its prime.
"How incredible…"
After exiting the starter hut, she ventured into the wilderness. At first, she feared her hemophobia would make fighting impossible.
But then a wraith ambushed her—no blood, no flesh. When killed, it dissipated into a trail of smoke and vanished.
"L-Lady Tsunade?"
From deep within the Death Soul Mountain Range, a returning Konoha team paused mid-step.
Asuma saw the familiar face among the players and immediately stopped. "Lady Tsunade… is that really you?"
Tsunade glanced at the approaching team and spotted Asuma, raising an eyebrow. "Sarutobi Asuma? You're a player too?"
After all, she was one of the Legendary Sannin. There wasn't a shinobi in the Hidden Leaf who didn't recognize her.
Asuma looked her up and down, shocked. "Lady Tsunade… you just joined, didn't you?"
The level difference wasn't hard to notice—players could see each other's levels.
Lady Tsunade, it was clear, was still a blank slate.
Even the two support ninjas in Asuma's team had already become professionals, both reaching Level 5.
The most likely explanation?
Lady Tsunade had just entered the game.
