The Flash : Please Kill Me (Complete Remake)

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Trap and Iris's Revelation (REMAKE )

Chapter 25: The Trap and Iris's Revelation (REMAKE )

The plan was set. A trap for the Reverse-Flash. A desperate, dangerous gambit to finally catch the man who had haunted their lives for so long. Barry was the bait. S.T.A.R. Labs was the cage. And Adam? Adam was the guy who was going to get himself killed. Again.

" Two times from Thawne. My heart says 'nope,' my system says 'give me more speed force-y goodness.' Compromise: I'll just scream internally a little louder next time."

Adam helped Cisco and Caitlin set up the energy dampeners, the force fields, every piece of tech they could throw at a speedster. He offered "suggestions" that were suspiciously precise, knowing Thawne's weaknesses, his habits, his arrogance.

"He's going to go for the main power conduit," Adam murmured to Cisco, pointing to a specific junction box. "It's his M.O. Always cut the power, isolate the target. He's a creature of habit, even when he's being a time-traveling psycho."

Cisco, trusting Adam's uncanny insights, reinforced the conduit.

The trap was sprung. Barry, vibrating with nervous energy, stood in the center of the Cortex. The lights flickered. The familiar, terrifying hum filled the air. And then, the yellow blur.

The Reverse-Flash materialized, his red eyes burning with malevolent glee. "You thought you could trap me, Flash? Foolish boy."

The battle was a blur of motion, a symphony of sonic booms and crackling energy. Barry, faster and more experienced now, fought with a desperate fury. But Thawne was still faster. Still more precise. Still more ruthless.

Adam watched, his 'Enhanced Deception Detection' screaming at him. Thawne was playing with them. He was toying with Barry. He was waiting for the perfect moment.

He saw it. Thawne, in a flash, was about to deliver a devastating blow to Barry, a blow that would leave him vulnerable. Adam knew this was his chance. He needed a second death from Thawne. A death that would give him a deeper connection to the Speed Force, to better understand its nuances, its echoes.

He didn't hesitate. With a burst of adrenaline, he threw himself forward, directly into the path of Thawne's vibrating hand, a human shield, a desperate distraction.

The impact was brutal. A searing, impossible cold that ripped through his very being. He felt his body vibrate, then shatter, as if he were made of glass. Darkness.

[SYSTEM ALERT: DEATH DETECTED. CAUSE: VIBRATIONAL ATTACK (REVERSE-FLASH).] [LIVES REMAINING: 2/4 (Current Life Activated)] [DEATHS ACHIEVED: 9/20 (Next System Level: Level 5)]

[SKILL ACQUISITION: 'MINOR SPEED FORCE CONNECTION (SENSORY)' HAS BEEN UNLOCKED!] [DESCRIPTION: Grants a rudimentary, intuitive ability to sense the presence and fluctuations of the Speed Force in the immediate vicinity.]

Adam gasped, his eyes snapping open. He was back in his apartment, disoriented and aching, but alive. He felt a new sensation, a faint, almost musical hum in his ears, a resonance with the very fabric of speed. He could feel Barry's speed, even from a distance, like a distant, powerful heartbeat.

" 'Minor Speed Force Connection (Sensory)'! Yes! Now I can literally feel the speed in the air! This is amazing! And terrifying! Thanks, Thawne, you just made me even more of a pain in your perfectly yellow butt."

He quickly changed, his heart still hammering. He raced back to S.T.A.R. Labs. The trap had worked. Thawne was contained, trapped within the force field, his fury palpable.

But the emotional fallout was just beginning. Iris, who had been watching from the comms, rushed in, her face pale, her eyes wide with shock and dawning realization. She had seen Barry. Really seen him.

"Barry?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "You're… you're The Flash?"

Barry, exhausted and vulnerable, could only nod.

Adam watched, a pang of sympathy in his chest. He knew this moment. The big reveal. The moment their lives would change forever. He moved to Iris, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"It's a lot to take in, Iris," Adam said gently. "But he's still Barry. He's still the guy you know. He just… runs a little faster now. And occasionally wears a ridiculous red suit."

Iris looked at him, then at Barry, tears streaming down her face. Barry, in turn, looked at Adam, a silent plea in his eyes.

"She'll be okay, Barry," Adam said, his voice firm. "She's strong. Stronger than you think. And she's family. She'll get through this. We all will."

He then felt the System hum with anticipation. He had accumulated enough deaths. The next upgrade was ready.

[SYSTEM ALERT: LEVEL UP REQUIREMENTS MET! INITIATING SYSTEM UPGRADE TO LEVEL 5!]

[LEVEL UP REWARDS:] [1. PERMANENT DEATH COUNTER INCREASE: +1 (Current: 5 lives per killer)] [2. NEW SYSTEM SHOP ITEMS UNLOCKED!] [3. FUNDS ACCUMULATION TIER INCREASED! (Next: $5,000,000)]

Adam took a deep breath, a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration washing over him. He was Level 5. He had 5 lives per killer. He had a new, powerful speed-sensing skill. And he had just witnessed a pivotal moment in the timeline. The first arc was truly over. The game was getting serious. And he was ready.

" Arc one, complete. No major timeline paradoxes, minimal collateral damage, and I'm still alive. Mostly. Now, for arc two. More villains, more secrets, and probably more opportunities for me to die in increasingly ridiculous ways. Bring on the next apocalypse. I've got a system for that."
