The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 958 958: Confusion and Feelings

As Flint slowly regained consciousness, he found himself in a place vastly different from where he last remembered. The surroundings were dimly lit, with the muted glow of mystical crystals illuminating the cavernous hideout of the Guardian Warriors.

Groaning as he tried to sit up, Flint took in his surroundings. The walls were adorned with intricate symbols, each pulsating with a faint, ethereal light. The cavern seemed to extend deep into the heart of the earth, creating an otherworldly ambiance that both fascinated and bewildered him.

However, Flint's unfamiliarity with the place disappeared immediately when Ella's charming face came into his view. 'Wait? Am I still dreaming? Or perhaps… this is another illusion?'

"You're finally awake," Ella's cheerful voice was heard.

Flint rubbed his temples, trying to make sense of the situation. "Where am I? What is this place?" he asked, his eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. "Where is Cassie?" He gasped, turning from left to right, searching for Cassie. His face was laced with worries and concern.

"Calm down, Flint. We are in a hideout. Cassie is safe. She's with you. She just went to the meeting hall, joining the guardian warriors," Ella explained.

Flint felt relieved when he heard that. "Sigh. I hope this is not an illusion," he murmured. After saying that, he checked his body. He wondered if something changed. Did he succeed in acquiring a superpower?

He scanned his hands then he pressed them against his body. Nothing changed. "Strange. I can't feel anything. Did I fail? Perhaps, I'm still in another test?"

"What are you murmuring about?" Ella couldn't help but giggle. Flint was talking to himself. She immediately cupped his face, checking his eyes.

"Ella, is that really you?" Flint asked her again for confirmation.

"Of course. It's me. Why? Do you think you are still dreaming?" Ella pinched his cheeks.

"Aw," Flint groaned a little.

"See! You are not dreaming." Ella let out another chuckle.

A gentle smile played on Flint's lips, a subtle expression of relief and joy at the reunion with Ella. "Let's not waste any time. We need to join their meeting," he remarked, eager to be part of the discussion. However, his concern for Cassie lingered, and he couldn't shake the desire to see her.

Ella, showing her caring nature, advised him to take a moment to rest. "The meeting might be over by now. We should wait for them to return," she suggested, gently guiding him back into his seat as he attempted to stand.

As they settled, Ella couldn't contain her excitement and shared some uplifting news with Flint. "Oh, by the way, Flint, I have some wonderful news for you. Liam is back! He's awake now!" Her cheerful tone conveyed the positive development.

Flint was taken aback for a moment. He was reminded of the trials he had gone through in the Sacred Place. In that illusion, Liam died and Ella tried to commit suicide. He immediately shook his head, pushing the negative memories back to his mind.

'I'm grateful. Liam is safe and sound.'

"I can see how happy you are because of that." Flint sensed the joy in Ella's eyes as she talked about Liam.

"Yes. We've been waiting for this moment. Now, he is finally back." Her blue eyes were filled with hope.

"Yes, that's true," Flint acknowledged in a subdued tone, his gaze shifting downward as he attempted to conceal the conflicting emotions within him. Beneath the surface, a conflict brewed—was it jealousy that stirred within him?

With Liam's return, a lingering uncertainty gnawed at Flint, questioning whether Ella's attention would still be drawn to him. What was he going to do with his feelings? He hadn't confessed to her yet.

As he wrestled with these internal conflicts, Flint couldn't help but question the path ahead. Would he continue to conceal his feelings, allowing them to fester in the shadows? Or would Liam's return serve as a catalyst, propelling him to finally express the emotions he had kept guarded for so long?

'No. We are at war. This is not the right time to confess.' Flint grappled with the realization of what they were facing in this world. 'I'll wait until this war is over. Once we return to our world, I'll definitely tell her my feelings.'

Yet, despite his determination to confess to Ella, Cassie's captivating image managed to resurface in Flint's subconscious. An exasperated sigh escaped him, accompanied by an internal complaint, 'Damn! Why is she still on my mind?'

Ella, attuned to Flint's usual demeanor, couldn't help but observe the subtle shift in his focus. Breaking through his reverie, she called out, "Hey Flint! Your mind seems to be wandering off somewhere. Are you okay?" Concern lined her voice as she noted the distraction that had seized Flint's attention.

"I think you should really go back to rest. Your mind and body are still exhausted from the long journey. I'll just get you some food to eat." After saying that, Ella left the chamber.

Flint didn't want to stay in that chamber alone so he decided to step out and look for Cassie and others. In the hushed ambiance of the passageways, Flint's ears caught the distant murmur of Cassie's voice. Her words, though indistinct at first, drew him like a magnetic force.

As he navigated the pathway, the resonance of her voice became clearer. It appeared she was engaged in conversation with someone. Intrigued and eager to reunite, Flint quickened his pace, following the melodic trail of Cassie's voice through the maze-like structure of the corridors.

Each step brought him closer to the source, his anticipation growing with every echo of her words that reached his ears.

"Liam, can you show me your powers? I am curious how strong you are!" Cassie's exhilarated voice echoed in that spot. The two hadn't noticed Flint's presence behind them. Cassie seemed to enjoy her conversation with Liam.

"I can do dimension hopping spell. I can also control water. I can chant some spells too. What do you want to see?" Liam was very cooperative with Cassie, entertaining her with what she wanted. She was a little bit playful as compared to her mother, Zhen-Zhen.

"I want to see you manipulate water element. Let's combine it with my fire." Cassie suggested.

"Alright. But we can't do it here. Do you want to go outside and do some practice?" Liam invited her out. He wanted to spend time with Cassie and get to know her more. He couldn't explain it. He might be drawn to her because of her resemblance with Zhen-Zhen.

"Sure! I heard there is a forest near our barracks! Let's go there and practice before we start our mission. We still have a rescue mission to do." Cassie immediately grabbed Liam's hand. She was about to teleport to that said forest when suddenly a strong arm grabbed her other elbow.

Cassie turned to her side only to find Flint, standing next to her as he gripped her elbow tightly. "Flint? You're awake now." Her smile widened further upon seeing him. However, Flint had a serious expression on his face.

"I'm coming with you," Flint blurted out without thinking. He didn't know why but his body just reflexively moved, grabbing Cassie's hand. 'Damn it! What am I doing?'
