Of course, Luo Yuan could never be a spy for the League.

Sabrina was certain of that.

Just look at the way he'd nabbed all those Mega Stones from Hoenn's League; no way would the League sacrifice that kind of treasure on an undercover agent.

Then again, it was possible Luo Yuan was Giovanni's spy in the League, and the League turned him back into a spy for Rocket Team, who then sent him back to the League…

But who could keep track of that?

After the captured Rocket grunts were dealt with, Silph's president arrived on the thirteenth floor to check on things.

And, to Luo Yuan's surprise, he wasn't alone…

"Lance?"

With his unmistakable red hair and a cape all Champions seem to love, who else could it be?

Luo Yuan raised an eyebrow, and Sabrina, equally surprised, gave a slight start.

Why was Lance here in Saffron City?

A brief telepathic exchange later, Luo Yuan and Sabrina decided to play it by ear.

Noticing their curiosity, the Silph president explained with a smile, "Mr. Lance happened to be passing through Saffron City, and when he heard we were under attack, he came to help!"

Luo Yuan nodded in understanding.

As the leading corporation in Kanto, an attack on Silph Co. would draw Lance's attention, even if he was just passing by.

While the president introduced them, Lance took a sweeping look around the thirteenth floor, taking in the battle damage.

As his eyes landed on Luo Yuan, he seemed impressed.

The president had briefed him on the Rocket Team attack and introduced Luo Yuan and Sabrina's role in defending Silph. At first, Lance had thought it strange for the president to put so much faith in a "newbie Trainer."

But seeing the evidence on the battlefield—and the defeated Rocket grunts with expressions of utter defeat—Lance realized he might have misjudged him.

As Kanto's top trainer, assessing Pokémon power from battlefield signs was second nature to Lance.

The damage here clearly hadn't been dealt by Silph security alone; they weren't strong enough.

Nor was it likely Sabrina, a Psychic-type expert, had caused the fire-type devastation.

Which meant the Trainer responsible was Luo Yuan.

Judging by the evidence, he'd taken down most of these Rocket Team members himself!

Lance quickly pieced it together.

The Silph board member across from him was no ordinary Trainer—and he seemed to have a strong sense of justice, given how he'd stepped up to handle the Rocket grunts.

It was precisely these qualities that Lance looked for in a Pokémon Prosecutor.

An idea sparked.

"Hello! I'm Lance, the Dragon Master," he said, extending a hand to Luo Yuan. "Would you be interested in becoming a Pokémon Prosecutor?"

"A Pokémon Prosecutor?"

Luo Yuan's expression turned quizzical.

He'd imagined a few things Lance might say.

Maybe a polite thank you, like "Nice to meet you," or a curious probing of his background.

He'd even briefly considered the slim chance Lance might recognize him from the Seven Island incident, leading to an all-out confrontation.

But the last thing he'd expected was a job offer from Lance to join the League as a Pokémon Prosecutor!

"Is this how you Elite Four always approach things?"

Still wrapping his head around it, Luo Yuan asked the question to buy time to think.

Lance chuckled, realizing he'd come off a bit strong, though he didn't regret it.

"Not exactly," Lance said with a smile. "But when I see real potential, I can't let it slip by."

From anyone else, the comment might not have meant much.

But coming from Lance—the Kanto Champion and idol to Trainers everywhere—it held significant weight.

If he'd been any other Trainer, Luo Yuan might have been on cloud nine.

But as someone who'd bested Lance before, Luo Yuan wasn't moved by his former opponent's praise.

To Lance, though, Luo Yuan's calm demeanor signaled maturity and poise.

It only strengthened Lance's determination to recruit him!

Lance's recent slip-up during the Seven Island incident had damaged his reputation, and with Rocket Team's activities ramping up again, he was eager to expand his team to face them.

Someone like Luo Yuan was exactly what he needed.

Not only would he strengthen Lance's ranks, but his position on Silph's board could help Lance increase his influence.

That was why he extended the offer the moment they met.

And Luo Yuan, on the other hand, couldn't have asked for a better chance. Lance, without realizing it, was opening the door to the League—a golden opportunity to infiltrate.

However… the timing wasn't ideal.

His cover story was that of a young, ambitious Trainer aiming for the Indigo League tournament. Joining the League as a prosecutor now would mean forfeiting the tournament, which didn't align with his established persona.

As an experienced infiltrator, Luo Yuan knew that his actions needed to be consistent with his cover identity.

Staying deeply embedded in his role was essential to avoid slip-ups.

While becoming a Pokémon Prosecutor would accelerate his integration into the League, it might also create a long-term weakness in his cover.

With that in mind, he coughed politely.

"Lance, I'm honored," he said. "But as a rookie Trainer, my focus right now is competing in the Indigo League."

"So I'll have to decline your offer."

Luo Yuan's reasoning was sound, and Lance couldn't fault it.

After all, joining the Indigo League was a natural goal for a young Trainer, and the League's regulations forbade prosecutors from competing while they held the position.

After a moment of contemplation, Lance sighed.

"The Indigo League is indeed an important milestone for a new Trainer. But my offer stands whenever you're ready!" he replied.

For Lance to leave the door open like this showed how much he valued Luo Yuan's potential.

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind," Luo Yuan said with a polite smile.

Listening to the exchange, Sabrina was shocked Lance hadn't suspected Luo Yuan's identity as a Rocket Team executive.

Her respect for Luo Yuan's undercover skills grew—his talent for deception was truly remarkable.
