Chapter 489: Chapter 489: War Reparations (Conclusion)
"We'll just have to take things one step at a time," sighed Shikaku Nara, deeply aware of the overwhelming gap in power they faced.
"Have we located Minato and Kushina?" he asked softly.
"He said this is Konoha's fight, and he's already sacrificed himself for the village once." Shikaku had tried to appeal to Minato and Kushina's "Will of Fire," but this time it seemed the Will of Fire wasn't enough to persuade them.
"Our only chance left is if Guy can eliminate the Akatsuki leader." Despite the bleakness of the situation, Konoha still had one last gambit: Might Guy and the Eight Gates technique.
"You hit them pretty hard," Daniel remarked, observing the Fourth and Fifth Jinchuriki, who had been thrown around like baseballs by Madara's Susano'o, alongside the exhausted Third Tsuchikage.
With no imminent threats remaining, Madara had seized the opportunity to face Ohnoki as well, overpowering the Dust Style with his Rinnegan and sheer strength. Even in life, Madara had never feared Dust Style; now, armed with the Rinnegan, it posed even less of a threat.
"Relax, they're not dead. If you're here, I take it things are nearly wrapped up?" asked Madara.
"Nearly. Only Konoha and Kirigakure still resist."
"Peace was simple, but you've turned it into a spectacle," Madara sneered.
"Founding peace and governing a world are two different matters. The Sage of Six Paths couldn't achieve lasting peace because he didn't know how to rule."
"Hmph," Madara grunted, reluctant yet unable to refute Daniel's argument.
With a final glance at Daniel, Madara turned to head back to Amegakure; the war was winding down, and he could finally see his old friend again.
"Two more Jinchuriki down," Daniel noted as Madara departed. With a swift use of the Flying Thunder God Technique, he teleported both tailed beasts and the weakened Ohnoki away.
Appearing next on the Konoha battlefield, he took in the sight of the defeated Two-Tails Jinchuriki, pinned down with black rods conjured by Nagato's Rinnegan.
"Let's wrap this up, Nagato," Daniel said. Nagato, alongside the Six Paths of Pain, had already gained a decisive advantage, leaving Konoha's forces barely able to resist.
"Everyone, fall back," commanded Daniel, pulling back the reanimated shinobi and the Akatsuki forces. Only Nagato and the Six Paths remained in position.
Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko had all once been Jiraiya's students, but their hatred toward Konoha ran deep. The suffering that had rendered them orphans was due to the Leaf Village's wars. Although Uchiha Madara and Black Zetsu had manipulated some events, the suffering of Konan and Yahiko's families had no connection to Madara.
Nagato had previously demonstrated that he could singlehandedly devastate Konoha without hesitation. Realistically, Konoha would have been the ideal village for Daniel to set an example with if not for concerns over Minato and Kushina's involvement.
"Everyone, stay alert," Tsunade ordered, gathering the remaining Leaf shinobi around her. Four towering members of the Akimichi clan joined them, each a few meters tall thanks to their clan's techniques.
"Tsunade-sama," said Might Guy, stepping forward and facing Nagato and the Six Paths alone, his thumb pressed firmly against his heart.
"He's going to open the Eighth Gate," Daniel realized. Might Guy's Eight Gates technique was leagues beyond his father's. Whereas Might Duy had only been able to land a single blow upon opening the Eighth Gate, Guy had managed to unleash the Evening Elephant and even Night Guy. Five strikes from the Evening Elephant would be too much for Nagato to withstand.
Guy prepared himself, his resolve clear. Tsunade, though pained by what was to come, knew this might be their only chance to turn the tide.
"Room, Slaughterhouse." As soon as he noticed Guy preparing to open the final gate, Daniel made a swift hand motion, swapping Guy's position with a bamboo stalk created by Wood Style.
"What…?" Guy found himself displaced, his hand on his shoulder, bewildered, as Daniel quickly transported him away from the battlefield with the Flying Thunder God Technique, leaving him stranded on a distant island.
The Flying Thunder God Technique was far more versatile than Kumo's Heavenly Transfer Technique. With it, Daniel could not only transport himself with ease but also relocate others at will, without any drawbacks.
"Where's Guy? What did you do to him?" Tsunade demanded.
"I just sent him to a quiet island across the sea," Daniel replied calmly. "The Eighth Gate was your last hope? Now that's gone." With a smirk, he teleported away with the Two-Tails.
While the Eighth Gate was formidable, countering it wasn't impossible. The simplest way would be the Shadow Clone Technique, creating numerous clones to divide Guy's focus, or simply relying on the immortality granted by the Edo Tensei technique.
"Shinra Tensei!" Nagato suddenly unleashed his strongest attack, creating a massive outward explosion of force, not directed downward but horizontally.
The sheer power of the Almighty Push divided the lake's waters like a canyon, exposing the lakebed below Nagato's vantage point.
"Summoning Jutsu." In response, Tsunade poured all her chakra into a summoning technique. In a flash, her appearance aged drastically as she depleted her chakra, including her Strength of a Hundred Seal.
With a loud burst of smoke, a massive white wall appeared before Konoha's forces. Viewed from above, it was revealed to be part of the giant slug from the Shikkotsu Forest.
Boom!
The enormous slug was instantly torn to pieces by the force of Nagato's Almighty Push, fragments scattering as tiny slugs flew forward from the shockwave's impact. Despite Tsunade's efforts, the force of Nagato's attack shattered the Konoha ninjas' ranks, sending many airborne, their bodies breaking apart mid-flight.
The Almighty Push had not only wiped out the shinobi, but it had also carved out a massive crater, nearly 100 meters wide and deep, in the lake, which began to refill as water flooded back into it.
Thanks to Tsunade's foresight in summoning the slug, many Konoha shinobi survived the initial impact, though the village had suffered heavy losses.
"That's enough, Deidara. Didn't I tell you not to kill him?" Daniel reprimanded as he appeared at the Kirigakure battlefield. The Six-Tails Jinchuriki lay injured and curled up, unable to defend himself from Deidara's relentless onslaught.
Deidara had prepared an arsenal of clay explosives, which proved effective even against the Six-Tails. The reanimated Akatsuki members worked perfectly with Deidara's clay bombs, holding their targets in place and allowing Deidara to attack with impunity, unafraid of collateral damage.
"Only Seven-Tails and the Nine-Tails left," Daniel mused. With the capture of the Two-Tails, he now possessed seven of the nine tailed beasts, leaving only Takigakure's Seven-Tails and the halves of the Nine-Tails sealed within Minato and Naruto.
"Looks like the brothers' battle is reaching its final moments." Daniel then turned his attention to Sasuke and Itachi's battle. Both were visibly wounded, reflecting the intensity of their fight.
Itachi had finally activated his red Susano'o, while Sasuke, lacking the Mangekyo Sharingan, had summoned a Wood Golem. The two constructs, each around ten meters tall, clashed and destroyed the surrounding towers and buildings.
"Itachi's running out of strength," Daniel noted. The diminutive size of Itachi's Susano'o spoke volumes about his declining condition. In comparison, Madara's full-body Susano'o reached nearly 100 meters, and Hashirama's Wood Golem was powerful enough to hold the Nine-Tails with one hand. Itachi's version was a shadow of those titanic constructs.
In the original series, Sasuke's Lightning Style Kirin had failed to break Itachi's Susano'o, but now, with the Wood Golem, Sasuke could match it directly. As they tore through the streets, both techniques eventually began to dissipate as the brothers reached their limits.
"Sasuke, you've grown strong. Now I can finally be at peace," Itachi whispered, barely able to see Sasuke. His mouth was bloody, but he managed a faint smile, his pride in Sasuke shining through.
A black crow suddenly appeared on Itachi's shoulder, one of its eyes bearing a Mangekyo Sharingan.
"So, it's come to this." Observing the crow, Daniel swiftly exchanged the crow with a nearby leaf using his spatial transfer ability.
"Sasuke can't be trusted," Itachi warned, finally noticing Daniel nearby. His gaze shifted to Sasuke with a serious expression, trying to impress upon his brother the weight of his words.
"Oh, so you're trustworthy, then? Weren't you about to use Shisui's Kotoamatsukami on me to alter my will?" Sasuke's voice seethed with anger. No one would appreciate being manipulated, even if it was with good intentions.
"Don't look so surprised, Itachi. You've always been self-righteous. I've already shown you how to achieve peace across the shinobi world, yet you cling to your so-called Leaf Village
peace. Focusing on one village alone is narrow-minded."
Daniel's presence had allowed Sasuke to discover Itachi's plans, stripping away the illusions Itachi had woven around his actions and revealing the cold truths hidden beneath.
