Jessica gave her a tired smile as Luna slipped out, closing the door behind her. The apartment fell into blessed silence.

Jessica turned to Hugo with a sigh, walking toward him with slow, deliberate steps.

"You know," she said, a teasing smile tugging at her lips, "Luna's only protective like that when she doesn't like someone. I wonder what you did to get into her bad books."

Hugo blinked. "Protective? That's her version of protective? She's a demon—an absolute—"
