Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 174: Chapter 174: The Inkfeather Fleet

Lai Heng chuckled smugly as he observed Feng Mo's grim expression, savoring a sense of triumph. "Oh, it's not just the four systems that the Mechanical Clan desires," he said. "Adding the U1 through U5 star systems would make quite a rewarding haul—a total of nine systems."

"I'm also aware that the dozen T5 ships earlier belonged to the Federation fleet, but they're likely preoccupied now. So, Storm King, unless you have other reinforcements, you have two choices: submission or death."

Feng Mo could only marvel at Lai Heng's appetite. Claiming the Storm Kingdom's four systems, the U-series five systems, and the Lizard Drake System would total ten systems. Though they were mid- and small-sized systems, their combined area rivaled that of the Snow Eagle Empire.

The Federation's forebears had been remarkably bold and resourceful, assigning one large system to each of the seventeen great empires. A large system could easily equal three to five medium-sized systems in terms of resources and territory.

Feng Mo gathered his thoughts and replied, "Commander Lai Heng of the Mechanical Clan's Third Fleet, I wonder if your clan will miss you when you and your fleet fall here?"

Lai Heng suddenly felt a pang of unease. Feng Mo seemed too calm. Facing three hundred and twenty T5 Mechanical warships, most would have quaked in fear, yet Feng Mo remained unfazed. Could it be he was hiding an ace?

His suspicion was confirmed moments later when alarms began blaring across his T5 Mechanical warship's control center.

"Alert! Two fleets detected on both flanks of our position. Radar confirms Inkfeather Fleet on the left and the Yunshan Fleet on the right."

"Feng Mo! You set me up!"

Lai Heng finally lost his composure, and the normally cool and calculating commander of the Third Fleet was visibly shaken.

Feng Mo laughed heartily, delighted that his decision to summon both fleets had paid off. The Mechanical Clan was too formidable a foe to take on alone, so he had gone all out with his preparations.

Without responding to Lai Heng's outburst, Feng Mo calmly disconnected the call and connected with Gu Jun and Mo Hua, the leaders of the Yunshan and Inkfeather Fleets.

Mo Hua, the supreme commander of the Inkfeather Fleet and the eldest grandson of the Inkfeather patriarch, was also Mo Xue's father. His involvement was one of the reasons the fleet had agreed to assist Feng Mo.

"I'm grateful to both of you, uncles, for lending a hand today. I doubt the Mechanical Clan will be so quick to recover from this blow," Feng Mo said respectfully. He knew the importance of etiquette, and he had already arranged to share the spoils equally among the three of them.

"Little Mo, no need for such formalities with us," Gu Jun replied with a hearty laugh. "Whenever you need us, just call."

Mo Hua, however, remained indifferent. He had come solely to fulfill a debt, not to establish a closer alliance. Yunshan's internal factions were complex, and the Inkfeather Fleet supported a faction that did not align with Gu Jun's. Nonetheless, with Gu Jun's warmth, Mo Hua responded with a slight nod, saying, "No need to be formal, Feng Mo. My daughter Mo Xue speaks highly of you."

His words hinted at a clear distinction—Feng Mo's relationship with Mo Xue did not extend to him or his faction. Yunshan's three factions each commanded a T5 fleet, and maintaining boundaries was crucial for the stability of the empire.

Gu Jun, sensing the tension, intervened. "Mo Hua, let's finish off the Third Fleet before we toast to our victory. What do you say?"

"Agreed. Let's deal with Commander Lai Heng," Mo Hua replied.

Both Yunshan's and Inkfeather's T5 fleets were renowned for their disciplined tactics and coordination. They had efficiently maneuvered into a surrounding formation, trapping the Mechanical Clan's Third Fleet like prey in a snare. The coordinated advance closed in from all sides, cutting off the enemy's retreat and shrinking their field of movement.

In addition, the Yunshan Fleet had a devastating asset: the T5 Interstellar Missile Ship. One of only five in the Federation, it could launch up to two thousand T5 missiles in a single strike.

Under Gu Jun and Mo Hua's orders, both fleets initiated their assault. Feng Mo joined the fray as well, eager to test his might against the Mechanical Clan.

While the Yunshan Fleet carved a path into the battleground, they formed two layers of encirclement: the main force surrounded the three hundred Third Fleet ships, while a smaller detachment isolated Lai Heng's command group of twenty ships.
