Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: The Mo Feather Fleet’s Promise

Feng Mo watched the Lizard Drake Clan's Grand Elder leave his office. After a moment of contemplation, he made up his mind and dialed Lao Wang's video communication. When the call connected, Feng Mo got straight to the point:

"Lao Wang, I've got some trouble—looks like the Mechanical Clan has me in their sights. I need some backup from your other half."

Without a word, Lao Wang pulled his wife, Mo Xue, into view and relayed Feng Mo's message. Mo Xue replied without hesitation:

"Feng Mo, the Mo Feather Fleet made a lifetime promise to assist you. Rest assured, we'll cover for you and make sure these outsiders know not to mess with our own."

Mo Xue's family, the Mo clan, was one of the top families in the Meteor Empire. The Mo family patriarch, once the supreme commander of the Mo Feather Fleet, was instrumental in building it into one of the three great fleets of the Yunshan Empire. To the fleet, the patriarch was a legendary figure, and his legacy had become a binding duty. Now, Mo Xue had risen within the Mo Feather Fleet as a T5 starship captain, with Lao Wang as her vice-captain.

Feeling more assured after securing external reinforcements, Feng Mo shared his plan with Mo Xue. He wanted to flush out any other factions with designs on the Storm Kingdom during this critical moment.

Following this, he made several more calls. By the time he finished, he was confident he had secured all the support he needed. Though the Storm Kingdom's exterior appeared peaceful, an undercurrent of tension now flowed beneath the surface.

Feng Mo registered the Beast Roar System and the Celestial Crystal System with the Federation and submitted the white hole's data to the Federation Council, uploading it to their database. Knowing the Mechanical Clan was likely to target Beast Roar first, Feng Mo figured that declaring these star systems openly could bait out lurking threats. Better to draw enemies out now than let them scheme in the shadows.

Once the preparations were complete, Feng Mo resumed his usual routine, commuting between his quarters and his office daily. Behind the scenes, Alisa ramped up production, sending each newly tested T4 starship straight into one of the four major fleets.

The fleet commanders—Kylan, Laila, Hua Qin, and Silia—maintained a façade of routine patrols while covertly shifting into high alert. Massive amounts of weaponry and supplies were discreetly transported to the Beast Roar and Storm starports in anticipation of a potential confrontation. With the Beast Roar and Storm systems flanking the Hurricane and Celestial Crystal systems, any invasion would likely strike the outer systems first.

Lizard Drake System, Lizard Drake Starport

The starport housed a sizable fleet of Lizard Drake warships, accompanied by a contingent of Mechanical Clan vessels. Most of the Lizard Drake fleet was composed of quasi-T5 and T4 ships, while the Mechanical Clan's fleet consisted of twenty uniform T5-class warships.

Unlike the Starsea Human Federation, which categorized starships into specialized types, the Mechanical Clan's warships were balanced all-rounders. While this versatility gave them an edge over standard ships, they lacked the specialized capabilities needed to excel against high-performance vessels of the same class.

Lizard-Class Quasi-T5 Battleship, Command Center

The Lizard Drake chieftain sat in the command center, his face twisted as he tore into the flesh laid out on the control panel. Cursing Feng Mo internally, he couldn't forgive the Storm King for ruthlessly killing their Grand Elder and refusing to return his body. In Lizard Drake tradition, even deceased clan members were a source of nourishment.

A video call interrupted his thoughts, and the chieftain begrudgingly answered, revealing the same android emissary from the Mechanical Clan, La Heng.

"Chieftain, prepare your fleet for deployment. The Mechanical Clan will integrate its T5 warships into your formation and remain hidden. Rendezvous at the interstellar space between the Beast Roar and Dark Reef systems."

Resigned to the threat hanging over his clan, the chieftain complied but deliberately instructed his fleet to advance at a leisurely pace on conventional engines, avoiding synchronized warp speed.

Aboard the Stormbringer

Feng Mo sat comfortably in the captain's chair, eyes on two holographic screens. One displayed the trajectory of the Lizard Drake fleet, while the other showed an unidentified fleet of quasi-T5 and T4 ships heading from System U3 toward interstellar space near the Storm System.

The Stormbringer's radar couldn't have detected these fleets without the reconnaissance efforts of four T4 Scorpion-Class Stealth Bombers. Feng Mo had stationed two of these bombers in each of the two systems, under the command of Mello and her sister, allowing them to monitor the fleets covertly.

Feng Mo wasn't particularly concerned about the Lizard Drake fleet, but the unknown quasi-T5 and T4 fleet with unmarked ships intrigued him. Their lack of identifying insignia signaled a "black market" fleet, operating without any legitimate backing. Even if Feng Mo captured and interrogated them, no faction would claim responsibility.

For Feng Mo, official proof was unnecessary. If he identified their faction, he would settle the score directly. If he couldn't take them down immediately, he'd bide his time until he could.

Feng Mo had prepared a "gift" for both the Lizard Drake fleet and the unmarked fleet, and dispatched the Orca and Hurricane to the Storm System under Ai Er's command for a coordinated strike.

"Ai Er," Feng Mo said, with a playful gleam in his eye, "shall we make this interesting? Whoever destroys more of the enemy fleet tonight wins, and the loser has to grant the winner one wish."

His innocent tone couldn't quite mask his mischievous look. Ai Er caught on instantly, flashing a coy smile and replying, "Deal. If you win, I'm yours tonight. But if I win, I expect you to experience my little whip."

Her tail flicked playfully as she laughed, making her intentions clear. Feng Mo's lips twitched with amusement, realizing how much Ai Er had grown in confidence.
