Starlight Ascendant

Chapter 19: Beneath the Surface

Aria's words hung in the air like a challenge, and Queen Xandria's face darkened with anger.

"What do you know, Aria?" Queen Xandria spat, her voice venomous.

Aria smiled, a small, enigmatic smile. "I know everything, Xandria," she said. "I know about your past, about who you really are."

Queen Xandria's eyes flashed with anger, and she raised her hand, summoning a blast of dark energy.

But Aria was ready for her. With a swift motion, she drew a small, delicate dagger from her belt and deflected the energy with a flick of her wrist.

Kaito, Lyra, and Arkeia watched in amazement as Aria and Queen Xandria clashed, their movements lightning-fast as they exchanged blows.

But as they fought, Kaito couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Aria seemed to know exactly what she was doing, as if she had been waiting for this moment her whole life.

And then, just as Queen Xandria seemed to be gaining the upper hand, Aria landed a devastating blow, striking Queen Xandria with a blast of energy that sent her flying across the room.

As Queen Xandria struggled to get to her feet, Aria turned to Kaito, Lyra, and Arkeia, a triumphant smile on her face.

"It's over," she said. "The truth is finally out."

But as Kaito looked at Aria, he saw something in her eyes that made his blood run cold.

A glimmer of madness.

And in that moment, Kaito knew that Aria was not what she seemed. She was hiding something, something big.

And Kaito, Lyra, and Arkeia were caught in the middle of a deadly game of cat and mouse, with no way out.

"What's going on, Aria?" Kaito asked, his voice firm. "What's the truth about Queen Xandria's past?"

Aria's smile grew wider, and she began to laugh, a cold, mirthless sound.

"Ah, Kaito," she said. "You have no idea what you're dealing with. The truth about Queen Xandria's past is just the beginning. There's so much more to the story."

And with that, Aria began to tell a tale of secrets and lies, of betrayal and deception. A tale that would change everything Kaito, Lyra, and Arkeia thought they knew about the world.

As they listened, their eyes wide with shock and amazement, Kaito knew that nothing would ever be the same again. The truth was out, and it was more terrifying than he could have ever imagined.

Aria's words hung in the air like a challenge, and Kaito, Lyra, and Arkeia exchanged skeptical glances.

"What do you mean?" Kaito asked, his voice firm. "What secrets are you talking about?"

Aria's smile grew wider, and she began to pace back and forth across the room.

"You see, Queen Xandria is not who she seems," Aria said. "She's been hiding a dark secret, one that could change everything."

Lyra's eyes narrowed. "What secret?" she asked.

Aria's smile grew even wider. "Queen Xandria is not just a powerful sorceress," she said. "She's also a member of a secret society, one that's been hiding in plain sight for centuries."

Arkeia's eyes widened. "A secret society?" she repeated.

Aria nodded. "Yes. And Queen Xandria is one of its most powerful members."

Kaito's mind was racing. What secret society was Aria talking about? And what did it have to do with Queen Xandria?

But before he could ask any questions, Aria continued.

"You see, this secret society has been manipulating events from behind the scenes for centuries," she said. "They're the ones who have been pulling the strings, controlling the fate of Eridoria."

Lyra's eyes flashed with anger. "That's impossible," she said. "We would have known about it."

Aria's smile grew even wider. "That's the beauty of it," she said. "This secret society is so powerful, so well-hidden, that no one even suspects its existence."

Kaito's eyes met Aria's, and he saw something there that made his blood run cold.

A glimmer of recognition.

And in that moment, Kaito knew that Aria was not what she seemed. She was hiding something, something big.

But before he could confront her, Queen Xandria spoke up.

"You're lying, Aria," she spat. "You're just trying to distract us."

Aria's smile grew even wider. "I'm not lying, Xandria," she said. "And you know it."

Queen Xandria's face darkened with anger, and she raised her hand, summoning a blast of dark energy.

But Aria was ready for her. With a swift motion, she drew a small, delicate dagger from her belt and deflected the energy with a flick of her wrist.

The battle was intense, with all five of them using every trick in the book to try and gain the upper hand.

But just as Aria was about to reveal the final secret, a loud noise echoed through the room, making everyone jump.

It was the sound of footsteps, heavy and deliberate.

And they were coming from the shadows.

"What's going on?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Aria's smile grew wider. "It
