Star Wars: The Rise of New Order

(Jayden's PoV)

We four followed the Wookie Guide that took us to the Blue Mountains, a few hours ago, now leading to what looked like a prison cell, and inside it was a big Wookie with scars all over its body. There are wounds both fresh and old, clearly visible on its body.

"So, this is the one that helped the poachers and the cause behind this ruckus", Vos spoke as he laid his eyes on the imprisoned wookie.

The wookies were fast. They quickly found the wookie responsible for the abduction of the Serpent's Egg, within hours after we relayed the information.

Based on the descriptions from Vos, the wookies quickly apprehended the culprit.

Seeing the culprit, I felt that there was a chance that we could retrieve the egg and calm down the serpent permanently, but a question lingered in my mind.

Why did the Wookie stay on Kashyyyk?

Did they eat the egg? Is that why they hunted?

No, that doesn't seem right. Those were poachers, not hunters. They came to get live specimens that they can sell to some rich guys, who like to exhibit these things for amusement or to show off in front of their friends or colleagues.

Whatever the case, the poachers would get a lot of money if the specimen were alive. A dead one would also get some money, but this is an egg, not the mother, that can be turned into a trophy.

So, they should have kept it safe for sale. Whether that sale has already ended or not, I am not sure.

Did the wookie return after selling the egg?

It is the only thing I can think of regarding its presence on Kashyyyk.

They stole the egg of the serpent creature, and the serpent was alive when they ran away with the egg.

Was the sale over, and was the wookie that it was safe to return?

Various thoughts kept swarming my head, and none were good. If the egg went into some rich collector's vault, then the chances of us getting the egg back or almost zero.

We can't exactly demand that the collector return the egg. Someone who could afford such a rare specimen would definitely be rich and have connections everywhere in the republic, especially some bribery connections.

It won't be easy even if Yoda comes and asks for the return of the egg, much less two unknown knights and their padawans.

I hope it was not too late and has not yet entered anyone's collection.

Vos conversed with the wookies for a while, and then he shook his head in dejection.

He turned towards us and said, "We were late. The Egg had already been sold for half a billion credits. This wookie stayed in the shadows, and since the egg was already sold, he thought that he could return without any issues. He never thought that the serpent had caught his scent, even though he hid himself from sight".

"Can't we retrieve the egg from this collector?" Secura asked with hope.

People our age are naive, and many think that it is rainbows and sunshine, but it is not. Only the ones who experience certain things would understand that, but even then, as children, they still hope that there is a chance.

Only when you grow into an adult and see the big picture, then one would understand that such ideals are not realistic. They may appear good on paper, and when one is giving speeches, but that's the extent they exist. In real life, they don't exist.

Vos sighed, "My dear apprentice, it is not as easy as one might think. If that person can afford to use half a billion to get the egg, then think how rich that person is, and every rich one has a lot of connections, and those would not be some rich businessmen connections, but in the republic, especially the senate".

"Though we say that the republic works for the people, it was just for some rich, as most of the republic depends on the taxes they pay and the donations that they give to the republic".

"So, there was nothing we could do?" Secura asked in a resigned tone.

"We could ask the collector or make a request from the Republic or Jedi Order, but those don't work anyway, not as they used to once", my master said in a sad tone.

Once, the Republic and the Jedi stood for something. They stood for Justice and against oppression, but as time went on, the Order slowly became the guards of the Senate.

In the last few centuries, the position of the Jedi Order became even worse with the blunders that they keep on repeating again and again, and then burying them behind "Stability of the Galaxy" nonsense.

Though the Jedi have power, the rich don't fear them. They just see Jedi as the dogs of the senate, who would bark or bite depending on what the senate says and the rich can buy the senate and make Jedi do whatever they want.

Jedi are strong dogs that are chained in their minds.

"So, what happens now?" Secura asked.

Vos sighed, "It looks like that right now, we have only two choices. Either convince the serpent to return to its home and accept its loss, or we have to find a way to end its life".

It was wrong, but he can't drag half the galaxy just to save one egg. No one would accept such a measure.

"Is that the only course we have?" Secura asked, dejected that we have to end something that was not wrong in the first place.

It was what the galaxy turned into.

Right or wrong has no consequences. Only Wealth, Power and connections matter.

I don't want to end the serpent's life, which I am not sure that we can achieve. I have a plan to avoid the mess, but I don't know whether my master would agree. Maybe Vos might, if from what I read and remember about his character. My master, on the other hand, though she is someone who doesn't accept everything that the Order does or says, but I don't think that she is reckless and would agree to such a reckless idea.
