Soul Land:The Dragon King's God of Nature

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: The Embryonic Contract Method!

Leng Yaozhu's confident demeanor immediately calmed Jing Shaoyu's earlier nervousness. If she said she had a solution, it was likely she truly had a way.

"Teacher, what's the method?" Jing Shaoyu asked.

Anya and the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast perked up their ears. Neither of them wanted the latter to sacrifice herself if it could be avoided. Both hoped she could survive as a spirit soul instead.

"This method requires the cooperation of the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast," Leng Yaozhu said with a slight smile. She didn't reveal the solution right away but instead looked directly at the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast. "First, I need to confirm something: are you fully committed to becoming Shaoyu's spirit soul?"

The Nightmare Demon Eye Beast trembled slightly under Leng Yaozhu's gaze. The battle earlier had left her with a lingering fear of this formidable human, so she responded without hesitation, "Of course! I'll do whatever it takes to become the Lord's spirit soul!"

Hearing this, Leng Yaozhu's lips curved into a meaningful smile. "Even if it involves undergoing a full transformation?"

"Of course… transformation?" The Nightmare Demon Eye Beast had started to agree instinctively but froze as she realized what Leng Yaozhu meant. She stared at her in confusion.

"Transformation? Teacher, what does this have to do with transformation?" Jing Shaoyu was also puzzled and asked for clarification.

In the context of soul beasts, transformation usually referred to the choice they faced upon reaching 100,000 years of cultivation. They could either continue cultivating in their soul beast form and risk heavenly tribulations or transform into human form to pursue realms unattainable by ordinary soul beasts. It was a choice most high-level soul beasts had to make.

Some soul beasts succeeded in transformation, as evidenced by legends of Tang San's mother and wife. However, many others failed. For instance, the Snow Empress of the Extreme North, once one of the top ten fierce beasts, attempted transformation during her 700,000-year tribulation but failed, resulting in her embryonic form being captured and eventually becoming the first spirit soul in history.

"It's entirely related," Leng Yaozhu said confidently. "Do you know how the first spirit soul in history was created? It happened when Lingbing Douluo Huo Yuhao, through an extraordinary stroke of fortune, obtained the embryonic form of the Snow Empress and transformed her into the first spirit soul with the help of a celestial being."

Jing Shaoyu, who was already familiar with this history, began to piece together Leng Yaozhu's train of thought. He had a vague idea of her plan but couldn't fully grasp its specifics just yet.

"So…" Jing Shaoyu prompted her to continue.

"So, our predecessors at the Spirit Pagoda took inspiration from the creation of the Snow Empress spirit soul. After nearly a millennium of research and effort, they developed a method for soul masters to contract orange spirit souls beyond their limits," Leng Yaozhu explained with a proud smile.

"Please explain!" the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast said respectfully. Though her earlier pride had been shattered, she clung to a faint hope that this method might save her.

"It's simple," Leng Yaozhu said lightly. "You, the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast, must revert to an embryonic state. I will act as the medium using my Limit Douluo cultivation, forming a spirit soul contract between your embryonic form and Shaoyu. This method is known as the Embryonic Contract Method!"

Her words struck the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast like a bolt of lightning. She was left both shaken and apprehensive.

"Teacher, are you sure this will work?" Jing Shaoyu hesitated. Though the process sounded straightforward, it was clearly fraught with risks, especially given that a Limit Douluo's power would serve as the critical medium.

He now understood why Leng Yaozhu had mentioned Huo Yuhao and the Snow Empress. The method she described was almost identical, save for the substitution of a Limit Douluo for Huo Yuhao's necromancer mentor, Electrolux.

"Rest assured, Shaoyu. I never undertake anything I'm not confident about," Leng Yaozhu said with a calm smile.

"Understood." Jing Shaoyu's unease subsided at her assurance. He turned his attention to the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast, knowing that her decision was now the key factor.

The Nightmare Demon Eye Beast deliberated furiously. Her gaze flickered with a hint of madness. This was undoubtedly a gamble, but with no other options, she decided she might as well bet everything. If she succeeded, she would become the close attendant of the Lord of Nature himself.

"I agree," she said firmly, looking at both Leng Yaozhu and Jing Shaoyu.

"Excellent!" Leng Yaozhu clapped her hands, and the golden flames binding the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast instantly dissipated. Feeling her strength return, the beast rose to her feet, only to hear Leng Yaozhu say, "Take a moment to adjust yourself. Once you're ready, I will assist you with the transformation."

The Nightmare Demon Eye Beast gave Leng Yaozhu a deep look, then turned to Jing Shaoyu, her gaze filled with complex emotions. Though he couldn't fully understand the meaning in her eyes, he could sense her deep longing for survival. In response, Jing Shaoyu instinctively nodded as if making a silent promise.

The Nightmare Demon Eye Beast withdrew to the edge of the oasis, settling herself by the water. She lay down and closed her eyes, her aura becoming calm and steady as she focused on preparing herself.

"Shaoyu, let's move closer," Leng Yaozhu suggested.

"Alright," Jing Shaoyu agreed.

The two of them followed, with a somewhat downcast Anya trailing behind. Anya felt a deep sense of guilt. She had initially wanted her master to subdue her sister, but she had overlooked the challenges posed by both her master's current state and her sister's cultivation level, leading to this complex situation.

She could only hope that the upcoming contract ritual would go smoothly.

"Shaoyu, are you nervous?" Leng Yaozhu asked casually as she sat on a stone near the lake, her gaze fixed on the still water.

"A little," Jing Shaoyu admitted honestly.

"That's perfectly natural," Leng Yaozhu said with a light laugh. "After all, we're dealing with a fierce beast. Anyone would be nervous. But don't worry—with me here, everything will go smoothly."

"Teacher, I'm curious. Why was this method developed in the first place?" Jing Shaoyu asked, turning toward Leng Yaozhu.

"Greed," Leng Yaozhu replied bluntly. "Do you know what an orange spirit soul represents?"

"Six red spirit rings?" Jing Shaoyu guessed.

"That's part of it," Leng Yaozhu said. "It also represents the ability to designate the location of fierce beast soul bones, a free fierce beast companion, and the potential to uncover divine secrets."

"Divine secrets?" Jing Shaoyu repeated, puzzled.

"Yes, divine secrets. There's a rumor that orange spirit souls hold the key to Lingbing Douluo's ascension to godhood," Leng Yaozhu said with a hint of disdain. "It's nonsense, of course. If becoming a god were that easy, the rest of the Shrek Seven Monsters from his generation would've ascended alongside him instead of remaining in the mortal realm."

"Ahaha…" Jing Shaoyu chuckled awkwardly, unsure how to respond.

Their conversation continued for a while until the Nightmare Demon Eye Beast opened her eyes and rose to her feet. Leng Yaozhu studied her, noting her peak condition, and nodded with satisfaction.

"Alright, you can begin the transformation ritual now. I'll assist you," Leng Yaozhu said.
