Shadow Slave: is this love?

Chapter 18: Cats, Cuddles and Meows (1)

The author saw a question on the discord.

"@GuiltyThree On a scale of Caster to Crow Crow, with Caster obviously being the lowest, what are the chances there are still living cats in the Waking World?"

The response?

"You know, Hope is dead :]"

And now the author felt spite.

Spite that there was no hope, thus only one thing was possible.

He had to take it upon his own hands to get cats in the world.

"Mwahahagaahaga" a voice could be heard through the skies of the Dream Realm—well only for people who had a sensitive ass sense.

"No but why'd I do this."

Back on the Forgotten Shore, Sunny woke up next to Cas, the bedsheet covering her beautiful figure. She opened her eyes, and turned towards him.

She could look through his eyes so it was a little weird for him...

"What are you looking at?" She asked with her dilated pupils and a smug grin appeared on his face.

"Your bre- you."

'Not again-'

A wide smirk appeared on her face as she beamed.

"Oh?"

A pause.

"Is the view that good?"

Sunny stared at her. Blinking.

"Y-yes." His flaw compelled him to answer as warmth crept up on his cheeks.

"Even after last night?" Her smirk widened, and turned more smug as she winked.

"Literally nothing happened!" Sunny flustered even more and sat back up, before cupping her face. "I love you."

"I know." She smirked, and started to move up. Towards him.

She leaned in towards his lips...

Only to kiss his cheeks.

Sunny flustered, and looked at her.

What?

She-she!

That was not fair!

Casse smirked, and kissed his forehead.

"I finally had a vision... It seems your fate is returning more. Enough to return atleast some of them."

Sunny blinked and looked at her.

'Is it something that important?'

It has to be.

They were finally spending some quality time together, despite him being teased.

It was his dream, afterall.

"Cats!" She cooed in a cute voice.

"A what?"

"A cat. They're only the cutest things in the world! Two worlds even! Its a creature from the Dark Times..."

Sunny sighed, almost reluctantly agreeing it. Almost.

It was like her asking him to eat Honey—Ofcourse, except, a date could be something they enjoyed!

And just like that... he found himself in the waking world trying his best to resist the pull.

The café stood on the corner of s street, built entirely from warm-toned wood — smooth cedar walls, oak beams, and bamboo accents. A sloped roof extended over a wraparound veranda with low seating and hanging lanterns.

A simple cat-shaped sign above the door marks this quiet haven where coffee, sunlight, and soft meows met.

'Wait... Meows?'

What?

What vile creature made that sound?

Better yet... Why was it so much more better than dogs?

They were known as the cutest things of the waking world! Ofcourse, he begged to differ there. They licked and made the skin all too slimy!

That was disgusting!

'I mean do they even clean their tounges!? Have frequent showers!?'

They probably didn't... And back in outskirts they used to bite!

They ring-shaped knocker mounted on a plate and knocked on the door.

Thud-thuck

The knock echoed as the cats leaned against the windows, looking at the pots sitting on the window sills.

"Do we have to?" Sunny groaned. His experience with dogs wasn't very good, especially since a few of them scratched him or licked his face!

That was utterly disgusting!

As they entered the cafe, they were greeted by the owner.

"Lady Cassia, and-" he heaitated.

"Sunless." Sunny completed with a nod.

"We are here to see cats, we might wanna buy one." Cassie said, as she held Sunny's hands and tightened her grip slightly.

Just enough to be warm. Comfortable.

'It feels like we are an actual couple...

Wait we are!' Sunny thought.

It felt odd—doing something so mundane. It felt as if—as if this moment could last forever.

Ofcourse, it wouldn't.

Couldn't.

He was a Soverign, and the Dream Realm had its own problems.

'Maybe I should finally ask her to marry me...' He thought with a sigh. One of his incarnations was using Anvil's shade to make a Ring to ask Cas out.

"Meow"

An adorable voice sounded in the room as their heads turned towards it.

There they saw a majestic large cat with tufted ears and a bush tail covered with a thick silky coat. (I took the tufted ears part from gpt, so thanks lol)

It looked gentle and intelligent... Loyal.

As loyal as a dog—not that Sunny agreed dogs were loyal but that was the only metaphor he knew. It radiated a calm presence and it seemed to be playing with a... Ball?

"Awww..."

Cassie cooed.

It did... It did look cute.

There bad to be a Nightmare Creature messing with their heads... How else would Sunny find a pet creature cute!

He watched as Cassie walked towards the cat, and lifted it up with gentle care, staring to pet it...
