Hal Jordan clearly annoyed said "So... can we talk now ?".

Without further delay, Arthur gave a slight nod to the looming figure behind him.

"Sinestro," he said simply.

The shadow general moved with perfect precision. With a silent gesture, he lowered his glowing ring hand. The remaining tendrils of the cage unraveled instantly, dissolving into trails of violet mist. The air lightened but only just.

Freed from the construct, Hal staggered for a moment, dropping to one knee, the strain of resisting shadow-forged pressure finally catching up to him. He caught his breath and stood, brushing grit from his pants.

"Thanks for that," he said flatly, nodding toward Arthur.

Before Arthur could reply, Kara stepped forward, arms still crossed, expression more annoyed than curious.

"What are you doing here, Hal?"

Her tone wasn't welcoming.

Hal held up a hand, still catching his breath. "Relax. I'm not here to fight. I just need to talk to Arthur. It's... important."

His eyes flicked from Kara to Raven then to Arthur. And that's when he noticed the obvious.

The swimsuits. The scent of ocean salt still clinging to their skin. Arthur's half-unbuttoned shirt, sand on his boots. Raven's hair still slightly damp. Kara barefoot.

Hal tilted his head. "Wait... am I interrupting something?"

Kara raised a brow. "Uh, yeah—our vacation, duh." She said it with that dry sarcasm she'd learned from Earth teens.

Hal blinked. "Right. I mean, were you guys—uh... never mind."

Arthur exhaled sharply, rubbing his temple.

"You're not the first one to interrupt, believe me."

Raven stepped in, voice flat as always, though her eyes glimmered coldly.

"If this is Justice League business," she said, "we're not interested."

Hal's brow lifted. His tone came with that signature sass, a smirk tugging at his lips as he looked between her and Arthur.

"Well," he said with mock politeness, "I'm sure it feels like League business when it involves your boyfriend, but this one's between me and him."

He barely finished the sentence before Sinestro moved.

The temperature in the room dipped. A sudden, dark pressure bled into the air as Sinestro raised his right hand. The Shadow Corps ring, black with curling veins of violet, pulsed with menace. A swirling sigil lit up behind him casting long shadows across Hal's face.

"You dare speak to my King's mate in such a tone?!" he said, voice like a falling guillotine. "Tread carefully, Green Lantern."

The way he said mate made Kara blink. Raven's expression didn't shift, but there was the faintest twitch at the corner of her mouth.

Hal's smug expression faltered only slightly.

Arthur lifted a hand lazily, though his smile now had the sharpness of a dagger's edge.

"Wait, Sinestro. No need for that," he said. "Hal didn't mean it that way."

Then Arthur's eyes lit icy blue, deep and endless.

He looked directly at Hal, still smiling.

"Right, Hal?"

The shadows behind him stirred.

Hal straightened, his mouth pulling into a tight line. That smile might have looked casual to anyone else but he'd seen Arthur fight. He knew that look. The smile that said, One wrong word and the darkness will move.

"...All I'm saying," Hal replied carefully, "is that we need to talk. Privately. just the two of us."

Arthur held his gaze for another beat, then exhaled and nodded once.

He turned to Kara and Raven. "Give us a minute."

Neither of them argued. But they didn't exactly look thrilled either.

Raven brushed past Hal, her eyes briefly locking with his in warning.

Kara walked slower, deliberately brushing her shoulder against Hal as she passed. As she did, she muttered to Raven under her breath, smirking.

"I can hear them from any distance."

Raven gave a quiet, knowing look. "I know."

The two of them vanished down the hallway, soft footsteps fading.

The room fell still.

Hal looked back at Arthur, suddenly aware of just how large the villa felt when you were alone with someone like him.

"Right," Hal said, adjusting his stance. "So. Where do I start?"

Arthur leaned back in a chair, steepling his fingers beneath his chin.

"From the beginning."

****

Hal finished his explanation with the sense of a man who didn't like the message he was delivering.

"And that's why you need to come with me," he said, firm and exhausted. "As soon as possible."

There was silence for a beat.

Then Arthur laughed.

Not a chuckle.

Not a smirk.

But a deep, loud, unapologetic laugh that filled the entire villa like a crashing wave, echoing through the high ceilings and walls.

Hal blinked. His brow furrowed as he waited for the joke to land.

It didn't.

Arthur's laughter faded slowly, and when it did, he looked back at Hal with a gleam in his eye filled with amusement and contempt.

"Let me get this straight," he said, voice calm but sharp like broken crystal. "You want me to go to the Guardians of Oa... and give them the ring that I made… because it scares them?"

Hal exhaled slowly. "Arthur..."

"No, no, I just want to make sure I've got this right," Arthur continued, stepping closer. "The Central Battery on Qward, my shadow battery apparently is absorbing energy from every emotional spectrum. That's what you're worried about, right?"

Hal nodded, jaw tight. "Yes. That's part of it."

"This ring," Arthur said, lifting his hand slightly to show the pitch-black band on his finger, humming softly with violet-black pulses. "This ring that's devouring fear, rage, will, hope, love, compassion… all of it."

Hal's tone tightened. "That ring doesn't belong in the emotional spectrum."

Arthur's eyes flared blue for a moment. "And who decided what belongs, Hal? The Guardians?"

"They've protected the balance of the universe for millennia," Hal replied. "And your battery? That's tipping everything. If it keeps pulling from all sides, it won't just be Oa you'll answer to. You'll have every Corps against you. And what you did in Qward is known to all of them by now."

Arthur's jaw shifted slightly, but his voice remained steady.

"What I did to the yellow lanterns," he said, his tone cooling like ice over steel, "was necessary. They slaughtered millions in the name of fear. I gave them a new purpose."

"You turned them into shadows, Arthur."

"I gave them a second chance," he said without hesitation. "Better than what they deserved."

Hal's voice dropped. "That's not your call."

Arthur took a step forward.

"It is now."

The room grew still.

For a moment, only the low hum of the distant sea waves remained.

Then Arthur exhaled through his nose, his expression softening but only slightly.

"But," he said slowly, "this doesn't mean I'm saying no."

Hal blinked. "So… you'll accompany me?"

Arthur nodded once.

"Yes," he said. "Tomorrow. I'll spend the night here, one last time with the people I cherish. Then I'll come with you to Oa and speak with your precious Guardians."

Hal stared at him a moment longer, eyes narrowing slightly in suspicion.

"You're not planning to… pull something there, are you?"

Arthur tilted his head, almost like he was offended by the question.

"I'm not a monster," he said. "I understand what the Green Lanterns stand for. Order. Will. That's more than I can say for the Sinestro Corps."

He turned then, casting elongated shadows as he walked away.

But just before he disappeared through the arched doorway, he paused.

"You should go now," he said over his shoulder. "We'll meet in Gotham tomorrow."

Hal hesitated.

Then he nodded slowly, placing a hand over his chest and whispering something to the ring. A flare of green wrapped around him, lifting his body off the ground.

He hovered for a second, watching Arthur's silhouette vanish down the hall.

"…Alright, Arthur," Hal said under his breath.

****

Arthur stepped back out into the gentle twilight. Kara and Raven were just outside leaning against one of the low outer walls near the garden. The stars were beginning to appear above them in slow pulses.

And both of them looked… extremely awkward.

Kara stood with her arms folded, kicking a loose pebble with her bare foot. She glanced at the horizon like it owed her an answer, jaw tight, lips pursed, her blue eyes flicking toward Raven every few seconds.

Raven, on the other hand, stood unnaturally still. Her arms were crossed too, but her cheeks were visibly pink. She kept brushing a strand of hair behind her ear that didn't need fixing, and refused to look at either of them.

Arthur paused mid-step. and then, with that signature low smirk curling his lip, he said:

"…I know you heard us."

Kara groaned and dragged a hand down her face, muttering under her breath.

"I'm not Kal, alright? I still haven't mastered the whole precision hearing thing." Her voice was dry, sarcastic, and just a little flustered.

Arthur chuckled. "Liar."

Kara opened her mouth as if to argue but nothing came out. She just looked away again, then gave a small shrug, visibly defeated. "Fine. Maybe I heard... most of it."

Raven, still not facing him, mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like "Wasn't eavesdropping. Just… proximity awareness."

Arthur didn't press further.

A brief silence passed. Not uncomfortable. Just full of unsaid thoughts.

Then Kara spoke again, glancing at him sideways.

"So," she said, more carefully now, "you said you wanted to spend one more night with the people you 'cherish'."

Arthur's expression softened. "I did."

"And?" she asked, cocking a brow.

He looked at them both the stars reflecting faintly in his blue eyes.

"I have an idea."

Kara tilted her head. Raven turned toward him slightly, curious.

Arthur extended his hand forward and said calmly, "But first... I need to make sure we're not interrupted."

A ripple of cold shadow unfurled.

And then... he summoned him.

With a roar of displaced air and a warping pull of gravity, a monstrous figure emerged from the darkness his towering frame crouched low at first, then rising.

Doom.

Doom stepped forward from the rift, the familiar mass of spikes, obsidian bone, and rippling muscle towering above them. His eyes glowed with deep, primal violet.

Both girls instinctively took half a step back.

Kara's mouth opened slightly. "Whoa."

Arthur turned slightly and said with a grin, "This guy will keep the others… well, busy."
