Chapter 10: Experiment 8 - A deserved judgement
After a moment of bringing SCP-9743 back to his containment cell, and the interview, Dr. Alexander Grimm obtained permit for experiment with SCP-9743 with SCP-682.
SCP-9743 was leaded safely to SCP-682's chamber. After SCP-9743 entered, he walked around, wondering the chamber, but then got sneak attacked by SCP-682, but before SCP-682 could reach SCP-9743, SCP-9743, disappeared, only leaving a trail of blue particles behind, and he appeared some far away behind SCP-682.
After SCP-682 located SCP-9743, it tried to charge, and the eyes of SCP-9743 were now blue, and more lifelike and alive, with more light, instead of all the darkness that were in them and his pupils.
SCP-9743 raised his right hand, and from the ground in front of him, a small line wave of bones rushed towards SCP-682. SCP-9743 seems to teleport away from SCP-682, and barely attack with bones, but after a moment, SCP-9743 sighed, and stopped in an instant SCP-682, making the reptile have a blue aura covering it completely, and unabling it from moving, and then, SCP-9743 moved his right hand.
Each move of his right hand was towards where SCP-682 was being forced to fly against, crashing against the ground and walls, but then, after few crashes and shocks, SCP-9743 did teleport some more closer to SCP-682, and seems to be doing something the Research Team is unable to see.
Whatever SCP-9743 saw, made him act as his pupils disappear, and his expression darkened while looking at SCP-682.
SCP-9743: "I, Raziel, the royal judge and angel of monsterkind, and guardian for secure humankind by being the angel they need, I condemn you to die."
SCP-9743 did then a quick move of his right hand, and multiple big scaled size skull with horns and sharp teeth appeared in both sides aside SCP-9743.
SCP-9743: "Burn in hell, you nihilistic freak."
Then, SCP-9743 closed instantly his right hand, and the skulls opened their mouths, showing inside of each a blue with red outline beam, and then, they closed to open again, but this time, they opened more widely, and the beam was released. The beams all together seems to have covered SCP-682. Almost instantly, the alarm was set, making know as a SCP has broken free from it's containment, but after a moment, the skulls slowly closed, until completely, and the beams disappeared.
After the skulls stopped shooting the beams, the skulls started vaporizing slowly, until disappearing and vanishing. The Research Team observed how where SCP-682 was, there's nothing now, and the wall behind where SCP-682 was is now completely shattered and destroyed with immense hole of size, and around the hole are high amount of cracks in the walls, as if the containment chamber could collapse at any time soon.
SCP-9743 was leaded back to his containment cell, and in the way, he shown to be more serious than usual.
But soon enough, SCP-682 shown it was still there, as it started regenerating itself from what it seems it survived from the attack, but SCP-682's Research Team reported about SCP-682's healing ability being restricted almost completely, as it was healing much more slower, and barely healing any part of itself, as some purple light inside the remains of SCP-682 seemed to slow highly it's anomalous ability to regenerate, burning SCP-682, while SCP-682's ability tried to heal. SCP-682's Research Team calculated that SCP-682's ability was slowed and/or restricted by approximately 80 to 90%.
Evaluation Report by Dr. Alexander Grimm on SCP-9743's Interaction with SCP-682
Subject: SCP-9743
Evaluator: Dr. Alexander Grimm
Date: 03/16/2022
Experiment Overview:
This experiment was designed to test SCP-9743's response to SCP-682 ("The Hard-to-Destroy Reptile"), an entity renowned for its hostility, resilience, and regenerative capabilities. The test aimed to observe SCP-9743's combat strategies, anomalous abilities, and decision-making under extreme threat scenarios.
Initial Encounter:
Behavioral Observations:
Upon entering SCP-682's containment chamber, SCP-9743 exhibited curiosity, wandering and inspecting the chamber before SCP-682 initiated an unprovoked attack. SCP-9743's initial reaction was one of immediate defense, disappearing from its original position in a teleportation-like manner, leaving behind a trail of blue particles and reappearing at a safe distance.
The Research Team noted that SCP-9743's behavior during the initial phase was primarily evasive rather than aggressive, suggesting a preference for analysis and control over direct confrontation.
Appearance of Anomalous Changes:
During SCP-682's charge, SCP-9743's eyes underwent a transformation, glowing blue and appearing significantly more lifelike and vibrant than their usual dark state. This change seemed to correspond with SCP-9743's activation of advanced anomalous abilities, including the summoning of skeletal constructs and the manipulation of SCP-682's movements.
Combat Analysis:
Evasive and Offensive Techniques:
SCP-9743 demonstrated a combination of teleportation and long-range skeletal attacks, creating waves of bones that rushed toward SCP-682. While these attacks caused minimal physical damage, they appeared to serve a tactical purpose: disrupting SCP-682's momentum and forcing it into a defensive posture.
SCP-9743's teleportation ability was used with precision, maintaining distance from SCP-682 while avoiding direct harm. This strategy highlights SCP-9743's calculated approach to combat, prioritizing control over brute force.
Dominance Through Force Manipulation:
SCP-9743 escalated its assault by immobilizing SCP-682 using a blue aura, rendering the entity incapable of movement. SCP-682 was then repeatedly slammed into the walls and floor of the containment chamber through SCP-9743's apparent telekinetic control.
The sheer power demonstrated during this phase is noteworthy, as SCP-9743 exerted complete dominance over SCP-682—a feat rarely observed, given SCP-682's resilience and resistance to most physical and metaphysical forces.
Final Assault and Anomalous Declaration:
SCP-9743's demeanor darkened as it invoked the name "Raziel, the royal judge and angel of monsterkind," and issued a verbal condemnation of SCP-682. This declaration coincided with the manifestation of large, horned skulls, which generated beams of blue energy with red outlines.
The beams, fired in unison, obliterated the area SCP-682 occupied, causing catastrophic damage to the containment chamber. The walls behind SCP-682 were destroyed, leaving a massive hole surrounded by structural cracks, indicating the immense power of the attack.
Post-Attack Observations:
SCP-682's State:
While SCP-9743's assault appeared to have eradicated SCP-682 initially, the entity later began regenerating from the remains of its body. However, SCP-682's regenerative capabilities were significantly impaired:
Restriction Effect: SCP-682's healing factor was slowed by approximately 80–90%, with a visible purple light burning within its remains, seemingly counteracting its anomalous regeneration. The Research Team noted that SCP-682's regeneration struggled against this light, resulting in prolonged recovery and visible discomfort for SCP-682.
Long-Term Implications: The restriction effect on SCP-682's regeneration introduces a novel weakness in its anomalous capabilities. The origin of this effect—presumably SCP-9743's anomalous energy—warrants further investigation for potential applications in containing or neutralizing SCP-682.
SCP-9743's Behavior:
After the interaction, SCP-9743 displayed a more serious demeanor, avoiding any verbal interaction with personnel during its return to its containment cell. This behavioral shift suggests a sense of gravity or emotional toll associated with the confrontation.
Key Insights:
Anomalous Strength:
SCP-9743 demonstrated an unprecedented level of power, not only holding its own against SCP-682 but also temporarily neutralizing its regenerative capabilities. The ability to summon destructive constructs, immobilize SCP-682, and counteract its core anomaly underscores SCP-9743's potential as a high-threat entity or a powerful containment asset.
Psychological Complexity:
SCP-9743's verbal declaration of judgment and its darkened expression during the final phase of the confrontation suggest a deeply ingrained sense of purpose or identity tied to its anomalous abilities. Its self-identification as a "judge" and "guardian" raises questions about the nature of SCP-9743's anomaly, including whether it operates under a specific set of principles or rules.
Containment Implications:
SCP-9743's demonstrated abilities—particularly teleportation, destructive attacks, and its effect on SCP-682's regeneration—pose significant risks to containment. However, these abilities also highlight potential for containment or neutralization applications, especially in scenarios involving highly resistant anomalies.
Recommendations:
Study of Restriction Effect:
Conduct detailed studies on the purple light effect observed in SCP-682's remains. Identify the mechanisms by which SCP-9743's abilities restricted SCP-682's regeneration, as this could inform new containment strategies for SCP-682 and similar anomalies.
Expanded Psychological Profiling:
SCP-9743's verbal and behavioral changes during the interaction indicate a complex psychological framework that may include a sense of justice or duty. A deeper understanding of this framework could provide insights into SCP-9743's motivations and potential uses in future interactions.
Controlled Power Testing:
Design experiments to explore the limits of SCP-9743's destructive abilities, teleportation, and entity-specific effects. These tests should focus on the scalability, energy sources, and potential vulnerabilities of SCP-9743's powers.
Enhanced Containment Protocols:
Given the scale of damage caused during this interaction, SCP-9743's containment protocols should be reevaluated and strengthened. Precautions should include monitoring its psychological state and potential escalation triggers.
Conclusion:
SCP-9743's encounter with SCP-682 demonstrated its capacity to dominate one of the Foundation's most resilient anomalies. The interaction revealed critical information about SCP-9743's powers, including its ability to restrict other anomalies' core capabilities. While this test underscores SCP-9743's potential as an asset in high-risk scenarios, it also highlights the importance of careful containment and monitoring to mitigate the risks posed by its immense power.
