Chapter 274: A Beautiful Woman
Third Person's POV
Ethan wryly laughed inside as they were scaling the very spire where Ethan and Aurae were currently concealed.
It wasn't long before they reached the window ledge.
Aurae's face tensed with apprehension but when she noticed they weren't paying attention to their precise location, she exhaled quietly in relief.
Still, Ethan remained absolutely vigilant and ensured that their bodies didn't shift or make contact with the approaching individuals.
They were both pressed into the narrow crevice at the edge of the window sill while being almost fused with the shadows.
Behind them lay a wooden trap door barring entry into the spire's interior.
To his surprise, as the figures reached the window, one of them produced a slender metallic lever.
Without hesitation, he tapped the wooden trap door with it, and to both Ethan and Aurae's astonishment, the door dissolved into dark shimmering ripples and vanished entirely.
What had been a simple wooden barrier now revealed a modest, circular room shrouded in dim yellow light.
The inside appeared small but oddly cozy though it was also wrapped in an eerie silence.
The cloaked figures slipped quietly into the chamber through the window and passed within a hair's breadth of the two hidden observers.
Neither Ethan nor Aurae dared to breathe as the strangers entered even though their presence had been so close that it was nearly tangible.
Once inside, one of the trio pulled out a rolled-up portrait from his sleeve.
Without speaking a word, they exchanged wordless looks and then unrolled the portrait.
They lifted it toward the seemingly empty space in the room as they faced the invisible wall with ceremonial precision.
Ethan narrowed his eyes and was curious about the portrait's contents and purpose, though he refrained from using his soul sense.
He didn't wish to risk detection just to satisfy his curiosity.
Still, he found it odd that they weren't viewing the portrait themselves but presenting it to the room as if someone or something was already present.
Just as he was lost in speculation, a sweet and melodious voice tinged with charm and mockery rang out,
"Well, well, well… what do we have here?
Did you three idiots finally get a clear look at the one who beat up the Duke's precious son?"
The trio froze as if lightning had struck them and trembled from head to toe at the mere sound of the voice.
Ethan could feel the panic rolling off them in waves though in his eyes, their reactions were almost comical in their intensity.
Beside him, Aurae was similarly transfixed.
For a moment, they both forgot their proximity and the way their bodies were still pressed tightly together as their attention became wholly absorbed in the unfolding scene.
Genuine curiosity gleamed in their eyes and that even overpowered the awkward intimacy that the dark elf had been feeling due to their shared hiding spot.
Ethan's eyes gleamed with heightened interest and something else in the moment, he heard that melodious and enchanting voice.
He had already concluded that the voice, without a doubt could only belong to a stunning woman.
As he stared with wide eyes into the dim room, she emerged gracefully from the shadows.
She was of average height with long sleek black hair that cascaded like silk down her delicate shoulders and her back while gleaming obsidian eyes peeked through the delicate black veil draped over her face.
Though Ethan could only see the captivating intensity of her eyes, the elegant arch of her brows, and her smooth flawless forehead, he found himself utterly spellbound by her presence.
Her figure was nothing short of exquisite.
Her breasts were full and firm and he was already imagining how they would fit perfectly in his palm.
As she sashayed into the room, her slender waist moved in such an alluring manner that even though she didn't do it intentionally, he could already visualize the day when he would hold that slim waist in his arm.
He could see that her hips were also perfectly curvy as suggested by the silhouette of her legs outlined by the modest black gown she wore.
Despite the simplicity of her clothing, there was a refined allure to her.
A small, drop-shaped black gemstone adorned the center of her forehead and glinted subtly while accentuating her already ethereal appearance.
The ornament though unassuming seemed to complete her image as she looked like perfection sculpted by shadow.
Ethan stood frozen in awe as an instinctive desire danced within his eyes at the thought of how breathtaking her uncovered face might truly be.
There was something profound in her presence and something more that transcended mere beauty.
Her quiet elegance and poised composure set her apart from any woman he had encountered before.
She appeared to be older than Virelle yet not nearly as old as his powerful and dominating Master Nyx.
As she moved through the room with graceful steps, she exuded a serene and timeless aura that seemed to be one that was untouched by arrogance but was still heavy with self-assurance.
Though she did not release even the faintest hint of killing intent or spiritual pressure, the three cloaked intruders trembled like leaves in a storm and were unable to even lift their gazes to meet hers.
Unlike his master Nyx, who radiated overwhelming dominance that could crush the will of a mere mortal, this woman's presence was subtler and colder, yet no less captivating in his eyes.
Her inner nobility mirrored that of Virelle though Ethan could sense that her maturity and confidence was greater and stemmed from a much deeper place.
While Virelle wore an apathetic mask that intelligent minds could often see through, this woman cloaked her true nature behind genuine emotion.
He could see the truly cold intent in her eyes which seemed to be masked by her smile that was evident by the slight creak in the corner of her eyes.
Her eyes were not simply aloof as he could see a thorough calculating look in them.
