Reincarnated Into a Pokémon World and Can See Their Hidden Potential?!

Chapter 84: Poisoned Victory

The crowd was still recovering from the double knockout that had started the match—Dragonair and Hydreigon both out after a brutal Hyper Beam exchange. The battlefield crackled with residual tension as Ray stood still, eyes on his belt.

His hand hovered over Pidgeotto's Pokéball for a moment, but he clenched his jaw and turned instead to the second one.

"Charmeleon," he said softly. "It's your turn."

The Fire-type burst onto the field, landing in a crouch, tail-flame flaring brighter than usual. His eyes burned—not just with determination, but fury. He had seen Dragonair fall, and even more than that, he had sensed what happened to Pidgeotto. This was personal.

Across the field, Donovan gave a crooked smirk.

"Well, that one looks pissed," he said lazily. "Let's see how it handles some real noise. Go, Toxtricity."

A jagged bolt of light announced the arrival of a lean, punk-rock-style Pokémon. Purple electricity arced between its spines. It cracked its knuckles and gave a low hum like tuning an electric guitar.

ToxtricityLevel: 39Aptitude: Core BlueType: Electric / PoisonBattle Style: Disruptive, status-heavy, rhythmic strikes.

Ray took a breath. "Let's dance."

The Battle Ignites

"Toxtricity, Overdrive!" Donovan shouted without delay.

The Electric-type's chest pulsed, then released a violent sonic wave crackling with static.

"Flame Burst, dodge wide!" Ray responded.

Charmeleon lunged to the side, hurling a burst of fire mid-roll. The fireball caught Toxtricity on its side, burning the edges of its purple hide. It hissed and snarled.

Donovan gave a nod. "Okay. Venoshock."

Toxtricity spewed a wave of glowing, toxic slime, arcing toward Charmeleon's position. Charmeleon tried to shield behind a rock, but the edge of the sludge splashed against his arm.

Ray's system pinged silently:

Status Effect: PoisonedCharmeleon – Health: 83% → 61%

Ray clenched his fist. "Hang in there. You're stronger than this."

Charmeleon growled in frustration but didn't flinch. He dashed forward under a second Overdrive blast and slashed at Toxtricity with glowing claws, pushing it back.

Then came a quick Nuzzle. A surge of static electricity crawled over Charmeleon's body.

"Now!" Ray shouted. "Flamethrower!"

From a standing crouch, Charmeleon unleashed a massive stream of fire. The attack connected directly. Toxtricity screamed and collapsed, its body twitching before finally lying still.

A Fire That Refuses to Die

The referee raised a flag. "Toxtricity is unable to battle!"

Ray exhaled in relief. "Amazing, Charmeleon."

He stepped forward, Pokéball in hand. "Come back and rest—"

But Charmeleon turned his head, growled lowly, and stomped forward.

The system pinged again:

Warning: Charmeleon refusing recall. Status – Poisoned. Health: 36%

"Charmeleon?" Ray whispered. "You… still want to fight?"

The Fire-type turned his head and gave a single nod, eyes narrowed, teeth bared, as if to say: "I'm not done."

From across the field, Donovan smirked. "Tch… stubborn lizard. Fine. Let's finish this."

He reached for his final Pokéball.

Ray looked at his partner—burning with poison, breathing hard, but unshaken—and slowly lowered the Pokéball.

"Then let's finish this together."

Charmeleon growled with blazing resolve.

To be continued.
