Reincarnated Into a Pokémon World and Can See Their Hidden Potential?!

Chapter 61: Officially in the Game

The bright morning sun spilled over the glass towers of Celadon City, casting a golden glow over its wide avenues and bustling streets. Ray Virel leaned against the window of the van as their convoy from Glendale rolled into the city. His heart beat fast — not from nerves, but from excitement.

Beside him, Kira Damos was quiet, her hands resting over her bag where her three Poké Balls were tucked safely inside. Her father sat next to her, calm as ever, while Ray's parents chatted softly up front.

Today wasn't just another day.

Today, they would register for the Intermediate Trainer Tournament.

The Celadon League Center was nothing short of impressive — a sleek, multi-level facility with the League's crest displayed across enormous banners fluttering outside. Crowds of Trainers and their families were already swarming the area. The energy was contagious: confidence, ambition, and dreams converging in one place.

Inside, giant screens rotated between tournament sponsors, historical matches, and a list of rules and requirements. Ray's eyes locked onto one screen.

Intermediate Trainer Tournament Rules (Revised)– All participants must be officially registered Intermediate Pokémon Trainers.– Each participant must register exactly three Pokémon, all legally owned.– Pokémon will be scanned and matched to Trainer ID via League records.– Borrowed Pokémon or falsified data will result in immediate disqualification and legal consequences.– Participants must not have held Intermediate status for more than five years.– Matches will be 3-on-3, no substitutions mid-battle, standard League time limits.

Ray swallowed. This was real.

At the registration desk, they stood shoulder-to-shoulder. A woman in a League uniform greeted them with a clipboard and a warm smile. "Names?"

"Ray Virel," he said with a nod.

"Kira Damos," Kira added confidently.

"One at a time, please. Mr. Virel?"

Ray stepped forward and released his Pokémon one by one: Pidgeotto, who puffed out his chest proudly; Dratini, coiling shyly around Ray's leg; and the unusual golden-hued Charmander, who looked up at the clerk with curious eyes.

The woman raised her eyebrows. "That's… quite the team."

She ran her League scanner over each Pokémon. Lights blinked. Names, aptitude levels, ownership history, and previous battle data flashed on her monitor. Ray could barely breathe.

Then — a soft chime.

Registration Complete.

Trainer: Ray Virel

Age: 15

Status: Intermediate – Confirmed

Team: Validated

Evaluation: Flagged – High Potential Trainer

Ray tilted his head. "Flagged?"

"Don't worry," the woman chuckled. "It's a good thing. Means someone's probably watching — sponsors, scouts, or even the League itself."

Ray blinked, stunned. They were watching me?

"Next," the woman called.

Kira stepped forward and, with grace, released her team: Machoke, tall and broad-shouldered; Tyrogue, brimming with restless energy; and finally, Riolu, her most recent and rarest companion, a descendant of Duke's legendary Lucario.

The woman's expression shifted. "Another incredible lineup… And you're both fifteen?"

Kira smiled. "Yes, ma'am."

The scanner ran its course. All three Pokémon confirmed. Another chime.

Registration Complete.

Trainer: Kira Damos

Age: 15

Status: Intermediate – Confirmed

Team: Validated

Evaluation: Flagged – High Potential Trainer

The recruiter's eyes lingered on her screen for a moment before tapping a button that sent the data to a secured League database. Just a few feet away, two sharply dressed men in suits stood silently, pretending to look at tournament pamphlets but clearly noting every young Trainer marked with the "High Potential" tag.

Outside the center, Ray and Kira were greeted with cheers from their parents. Ray's mother hugged him tightly, and his father clapped his shoulder with pride. "You did it, son. You're really in."

Kira's father placed a hand on her back. "I always knew you had the strength. But I'm proud to see the world recognizing it, too."

As they walked together through the plaza, past Trainers, vendors, and tournament posters, Ray turned to Kira.

"Can you believe it?" he said, still grinning. "We're officially in."

She smiled back. "I can. We've worked too hard not to be."

Above them, one of the large screens flashed again — this time showing the tournament bracket screen, still empty.

But soon, names would fill those lines.
