Reincarnated Into a Pokémon World and Can See Their Hidden Potential?!

Chapter 60: The Road to Celadon

The morning sun had just begun to peek over the rooftops of Glendale, casting a golden hue across the quiet town. Birds chirped faintly in the distance, and a light breeze rustled the trees. Today marked the beginning of a new journey—not one of first steps, but of progress, of dreams inching closer to reality.

Ray stood near the front of his house, his backpack strapped securely to his shoulders. Pidgeotto sat proudly beside him, feathers glistening with vitality, his deep blue aptitude now a clear badge of honor. Charmander clung playfully to his trainer's leg, its pale yellow tail flame flickering with eager energy, and Dratini peeked out from a secure pouch on Ray's chest, eyes curious and bright.

The carriage arranged by his parents stood by the path, loaded with luggage and food for the trip. His mother adjusted his scarf with a tearful smile, and his father gave him a firm but proud pat on the shoulder.

"You've grown a lot," his father said. "Stronger, smarter… and a little more reckless."

Ray chuckled. "I had to push forward. This tournament means a lot."

"I know. Just make sure you come back in one piece." His father's voice was gruff, but Ray caught the concern behind his words.

A voice called out from across the street. "Ray!"

Kira and her family emerged from their home, also prepared for the trip. Kira waved enthusiastically, Machoke walking beside her with a confident grin. Tyrogue and Riolu trailed close, both lively and full of energy.

"Morning!" Ray greeted, walking toward her.

"Morning," she replied. "Ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

Their parents exchanged polite greetings as the carriages were prepared. Kira's father had managed to acquire their transport from a family friend, and Ray's parents had stocked up on supplies. It would be a two-day journey to Celadon City by road—time enough to rest, review, and mentally prepare for the tournament ahead.

As the wheels began to turn and the trees of Glendale started to fade into the background, Ray and Kira sat across from each other inside the carriage. Their Pokémon were resting quietly. The atmosphere was peaceful, but both could feel the anticipation bubbling beneath the surface.

Kira looked out the window. "I still can't believe it. Celadon City. The Intermediate Trainer Tournament. It's real now."

Ray nodded. "Yeah. It's happening. After all the training, the exams, everything… this is our chance to see how far we've come."

Kira leaned back, her eyes thoughtful. "Do you think we'll make it to the finals?"

Ray looked at her, then smiled. "I promised I'd meet you there, didn't I?"

She smirked, extending her pinky. "Then don't you dare lose before then."

He hooked his pinky with hers. "Right back at you."

They both laughed softly, but there was a weight in their voices—a shared understanding that what awaited them wasn't just a competition. It was a crossroads, the moment where trainers from across the region would showcase their strength, their growth, and their ambitions.

That night, as the group camped at a rest stop near a lake, the stars stretched across the sky in full clarity. Ray sat by the fire with his Pokémon curled around him. He looked over to Kira, who was quietly brushing Riolu's fur.

"I'm scared," she admitted quietly.

Ray blinked. "Really? You?"

She nodded. "I've never been in something this big. It's not just a test anymore. It's… everyone watching. Everyone judging."

Ray was quiet for a moment. Then he said, "You know what I'm scared of? That I'll win and you won't be there at the end."

She laughed at that, softly. "Then I guess we both have to be brave."

He smiled. "We've come a long way from that first day, huh?"

"Yeah," she said, gazing up at the stars. "And there's still so far to go."

They sat in silence for a while, fire crackling between them, the distant sound of nocturnal Pokémon echoing in the woods. But in that moment, neither of them felt alone. The path ahead was uncertain, but together, they had strength. And together, they would face what came next.

Tomorrow, they would arrive in Celadon.

And the tournament would begin.
