Chapter 136: Revealing the truth
Data, a lot of data. Sensory data which told him the size and structure of everything inside the Empirical Aura. From the smallest grain of sand, to the largest tree, Bian could see it all.
Observing too much at once would kill any body, no matter how powerful they were, but Bian didn't need to literally observe everything.
He filtered out the basic and useless things and thus was left with what concerned him. Different packs of beasts, a royal shelter, dens, caves and other important structures.
He couldn't tell the fitness of a creature with the Empirical Aura, but there was a certain rule he had observed in the sanctuaries. The biggest creatures tended to be stronger.
With that in mind, he narrowed down the location of the super creatures using their dwelling place and their size when compared to the other creatures around them.
A lot of them were gathering some materials and resources, then froze when the light came upon them. It dealt them no harm and they couldn't track the maker, so they continued with their tasks.
Bian could only laugh as he knew they were gathering this resource for him. As for the shelter, there was only a single person there. Bian knew how treacherous this person was, but since he had not offended him, he left the individual to his fate.
Bian memorised the locations of the super beasts and deactivated the Empirical Aura. He cleared his throat for a moment and said,
"First up, head to those yellow hills. Let's prepare ourselves as decent guests, Han Yan, Man Tian. It's not everyday that we get to be treated with such an accord."
After years of fighting against creatures, for the first time they were welcomed by them.
The mountain king and its offspring, the monstrous and powerful white snake and so many other super creatures.
When they showed up to their doorsteps, the creatures would bring out a treasure for them. Most of these items took a lot of time and energy to be cultivated and had strong effects.
It wasn't easy for the beasts to give them out, but they did so because of the silver fox. The little creature had healed many of them, and not being Homo sapiens, they knew how to return the gratitude.
'Well not all humans are ungrateful wretches, just most.' Bian mused.
With the tyrannical speed of the golden growler, they traversed most of ghost mountain in just one week.
They gathered all the resources and fed them to the golden growler along with the Aqua Fruit.
"It needs time to digest the gains." Man Tian said as he retrieved the golden growler.
Now the three of them stood still for a while, looking at the peak of ghost mountain. Bian mused for a bit, a frown on his face.
"Do any of you have a way of attacking an ethereal foe?" Although Bian had a plethora of skills and abilities, none of them could harm a ghost.
The most alien of his abilities was the Empirical Aura which Bian was starting to understand. Still, he wasn't sure it could damage an incorporeal opponent.
"You mean the ghost in ghost mountain is actually a real ghost." Han Yan questioned.
"As real as ghosts can be. It is a nine-tailed ghost fox."
"Dare I even ask how you know." With a heavy sigh, Man Tian also shook his head.
"Actually I've been meaning to tell you about that." Bian sucked in a deep breath. "Truthfully, I'm from another world entirely. I had seen a prediction of the things of this world and when I died, I ended up here."
He studied their eyes for a moment before he continued, "The predictions I saw were mostly accurate, but now a lot of things have changed. It is no longer as reliable. My crossing here makes me an anomaly, and that is why the Executioners are after me."
The silence that ensued was a deep one, encompassing several moments. Finally, Han Yan asked with a serious glare.
"How old were you when you died?"
"That's your question? Well I wasn't even twenty yet before I died a virgin. I'm older than I ever was before." Bian revealed with a slight smile.
"How do the Executioners know about you?" Man Tian asked.
"It has something to do with Han Jingzhi, I'm sure of it. He is a master at predictions and manipulation, so I presume my transmigration had a large impact on the timeline."
The two of them took a moment to digest what Bian said. Bian thought about it a bit more and added.
"I think my super body is what actually triggered him. The Executioners came to be while I was in the second sanctuary after gaining my super body."
"Doesn't the Emperical Will boost your luck?" Man Tian asked. Having good luck was useful, but it wasn't really that great in his opinion.
"I thought so at first, but that isn't the case. The Empirical Will is actually probability manipulation. The chance of getting a beast soul is always low, but I can directly increase that chance to a hundred percent, making it a guaranteed drop."
"I figured it out, when I needed to gather some water of life. The glowing water droplets I showed you before. Those drops actually flowed and entered the container in my palm. It was entirely possible, but had a very low chance of happening."
"That's a horrible power for him to contend with. I know about Han Jingzhi, he has been manipulating others a lot and your powers would be a deadly counter to him." Han Yan nodded.
Man Tian was also intrigued by the concept of his powers. Probability manipulation was a very powerful skill, but it wasn't all powerful. It just happened to counter the skills of someone who could predict the future.
It also left him thinking, what was the Empirical Aura then. Super body evolution were always connected, so what type of power was the Empirical Aura?
He couldn't hold unto his curiosity and finally asked Bian.
"The Empirical Aura is even more ridiculous in my eyes. While the Empirical Will is probability manipulation, the Empirical Aura is plausibility manipulation."
"You're joking right?" Man Tian said gobsmacked.
Even Han Yan had an incredulous look on her face. Plausibility manipulation, wasn't that basically reality warping.
"Normally, gaining the beast soul of a creature that wasn't killed by your hands can't happen, but the Empirical Aura makes it plausible."
"The same for killing a creature by killing its clone, such a thing shouldn't be possible through a mundane attack but the Empirical Aura makes it plausible"
"Doesn't that mean that you could turn that tree to cotton?" Man Tian asked.
"Even I'm not sure of that and It's the reason for so much of my headaches. I don't know the limits and complete coverage of the Empirical Aura." Bian admitted.
"I think - no I'm sure the Empirical Aura will work on the nine-tailed ghost fox." Han Yan assured.
"How can you be so certain?" Bian had to question her. How could she know more about his super body, than the owner.
"Its quite simple, so simple you didn't see it. You can't simply change a tree to cotton, but you might be able to kill a forest by cutting down a tree in future." She saw the look of confusion on their faces, which was quite rare on Bian.
"Haven't you noticed? The Empirical Aura, it's meant for killing. There is no way it wouldn't allow you to slay an incorporeal beast." Han Yan said with conviction.
Bian reasoned all the things he had been through, and he nodded in acknowledgement. The Empirical Aura really was suited for killing.
A light flashed by his eye for a moment as he realised the implications. He calmed down and they discussed the final course of action.
Han Yan surprised them with her next words.
"If worse comes to pass, I can link the nine-tailed ghost fox to one of us using causal relationships. Then any damage on us would be reflected on it." It was a cruel method which would only be effective if they killed their friends.
Luckily they wouldn't need to go so far. Even if everything went to hell, they just needed to survive and escape. If possible though, there would be murder on a mountain top.
